With so much scrap wood I still can't understand a small wood stove with propane backup heat is the best solution. There must be a perfect wood stove willing to,sponsor your cabin. Stay warm friend

I totally agree. I have been saying the same thing! Once installed, you don't have to use it, but the option is always there.

I have a small 14x16 cabin with woodstove for heat and the same Martin Heater Ryan is about to install. Being in the woods is all about good stewardship of materials and keeping costs down. Ryan listen make provisions to connect a wood stove backup plans a must.
Just yesterday here south of you in Ohio I filled one of my 30lb propane tanks, Tractor Supply here is currently charging $3.99 a gallon any my tank takes 7 gallons. I love my Martin Heater but it is thirsty so to mitigate costs do like you say don't run when your not there to enjoy but at the same time backup plan woodstove.
For me I like fires so much I try to opt for fire first and propane second. Clean up the scraps and get free heat a no brainier. Market Place has wood stoves for sale all the time. The wonderful stove I have is over $1,000 New yet I got it for $150 only had to put new firebricks in which were cheap from Tractor Supply.
Great job Ryan love your channel.

The problem is that the majority of the scrap is wet. It will not burn well and will mess up the chimney on the stove.

She’s a beaut Clark, a wood stove would dry the door out fast it’s a very dry heat compared to the propane that is throwing out moisture when it burns. Keep up the great videos you do good work.

I always look forward to the Saturday morning update from The Worm. Thanks for the video Ryan! (FYI, a 2X12-12' rough sawed cedar board is $167 at Menards.) I usually post a comment with the current number of subscribers at the end so I can monitor the growth rate of the channel. There have been about 1,000 new subs per week since the channel reached 50K. At the current rate of growth The Worm could reach 100K subs by Sept. 16. Today the subscriber count is: 58.2K

I had to laugh when you lowered your face Shield out of habit and also when you tried to flip a light switch that wasn't there.
Its crazy how hard it is to break old habits. The last step upto my parking area was a treated 2x4. Well I added more gravel to the parking area and replaced the 2x4 with a 2x6. My wife and I both tripped and fell several times until our brains finally remembered to lift our feet higher. I hung a piece of chain across the handrails as a visual reminder. I love building stuff. I enjoy your channel.

I live in a very cold climate, we go down to -30c here in the winter and i use my dewalt cordless tools outside all the time no prob. It may just be Ryobi, or the bats are old.

I believe that if your stair treads are three feet wide, you need a third stringer in the middle. Also, when making two piece step treads, you should use the thinner board inside. That way, the wider front board is more securely attached and less apt to want to pry off. Hope this helps. By the way, you should see how cold it gets up here. Northern Canada.

Great job...

Bob Blyth, Perth, W.A. (OZ): You get more blizzards than we get cyclones, I think I prefer cyclones! It's going to be a tough Christmas and New Year if you stay bush, though I hope you spend it all with loved ones. Stay safe and Merry Christmas to you All!

You should try to bury your water buckets in your saw dust pile to keep them from freezing, they used to bury ice in saw dust to keep for the summer. Just a thought.

I love the joists under the steps for support. I would have wasted another 2x12 for a center support but you used 2x4 scrap 4’ long. NICE. ; )

I live in a small cabin like yours, that I built my own self. One thing I keep thinking about doing. (Every winter I consider it. LOL) Cut a hole in the wall. Build a cabinet on the outside of the wall. Put a door on. Use that for a 'cooler'. Keeps the food cold, keeps the critters away from the food. And easy access from inside.
