  • The concept of the end for humanity is a tough pill to swallow. The reality is everyone single one of us, no matter what we do, will eventually have the lights go out for the final time. But what lies beyond that threshold? Is there really an after life or is it something else entirely? And can we even delay the inevitable or outright cure it? Lets discuss that in todays episode!

I'm a vet tech and thus have handled many recently deceased animals. We once euthanized a cat and when I brought the remains back to the treatment room after the family had said their goodbyes, the cat started turning its head back and forth. I double checked and there was no heartbeat or pulse, and the cat was not breathing. I got the doctor, and she also confirmed the cat was definitely dead. There was simply still residual electrical activity in the muscles of the neck, causing the head to move. It will haunt me forever, but I am so happy it didn't happen in front of the family. As upsetting as it was for me, it would have been far worse for the people who loved that cat.
The doctor ultimately had me wait an extra half an hour before placing the cat in a cadaver bag and taking it to the feezer for the crematory to pick up.

Oh yeah, the electrical firing is so bizarre. That's how you also get the final breath, it isn't all silent and cute, no it's so guttural and disgusting to hear that my mom who normally loves the macabe is still traumatized by it and is glad she isn't there for the final day and that was from one time.

The body may seize and flicker, but that doesn't tell us much about how the actual thinking organism is feeling. It's either scared and anxious because it is experiencing something new and scary (in which case having it's humans around would help stabilize it's emotions during death) or relatively calm because it's surrendering to the sensation of death. Lot's of animals have pathology to simply go limp and dumb when being killed or eaten and spacing out. Like a inborn anesthetic for their bodies and minds.

My interpretation of Lazarus Zoe being evil is that when Ava went to "hell" and saw young Zoe, it showed her that Zoe started a fire that killed people, hinting that there might be some lingering psychological issues with her. When Zoe is brought back and the serum makes her neuronal pathways multiply, I think it makes her psychopathic tendencies grow with them. Similar to a projection of one's ID.

If you’re an introvert and intelligent, social iteraction actually becomes way easier when you treat it analytically. In small talk scenarios, people are pretty algorithmic and most respond similarly to similar stimuli (for example, people like talking about themselves and their interests as long as it’s not too personal or private). If you pay attention, you can create conversation skills with enough practice. It does require you to care about your conversational partner’s experience though.

I always found it easy to talk to people when playing a game. Probably becuase it gets me out of my head. I try to get in the mindset that the interaction itself is a game. It backfires sometimes...

Maybe DMT release before death is an adaptation to prevent us from damaging each other in our last moments of life to protect our communal life style, most animals go rambo with pain and so on while on their last legs, given that we humans became more communal over time we develop counter measures to not destroy our community by going rambo while dying. Idk but it's a theory

Idk man I’ve done DMT. Once I did it everything went crazy, it sounded like rockets going off in my ears, everything started to vibrate and change form. I closed my eyes and tilted back then I was in a large empty pitch black chamber. Or void. It seemed endless but had depth it was very weird. I started to freak out and panic. Thinking I was dead and I made a huge mistake. Then I heard a loud booming voice tell me “do not be afraid, everything will be okay” after that I relaxed and then a white light above my head exploded with waves of color that I couldn’t never hope to describe in detail. Everything blended and moved, shifting endlessly into one another. Shapes appeared all over , fractal patterns of light and color making shapes. Like you’re inside a kaleidoscope on crack. 3 different beings tried to talk to me or interact with me while in the kaleidoscope. One was a feminine figure kneeled in a garden working. (Btw these figures looked exactly like the walls of the kaleidoscope, they were made of moving color/shapes with a black outline that defined their form.) while she was there the colors were green and blues, a masculine figure came sitting like the Buddha with a staff. His colors were red and orange with some yellows, I can’t remember the last being but it had antlers and those antlers started branching and multiplying and growing.
Each entity tried to show me something. The garden lady picked something and tried to show me. The Buddha guy bowed to me and then stuck his hand out to show me something. Same as the last tho I can’t remember his motions. Each time I tried to look in their hand they disappeared. Then a few more minutes of color and flying through hyperspace and I came back to my body.
By the way I did NOT want to come back. I wanted to stay. I was not allowed to stay. I was told I had to leave or at least felt I had to leave. I came back to my body and everything was made of circles. Those circles were all vibrating tightly packed together. As time went on the circles faded back into straight lines and the world we all know.
Whatever DMT is we do not understand it. It is not simply a chemical that makes you hallucinate. Until you’ve done it you can’t really speak on its experience or purpose. I’ve done a few different types of hallucinogens. Nothing is like dmt. All of them you are in the real world and can understand you are tripping. DMT does not feel like that at all.

Only thing that comes to mind to explain the DMT release in the brain when dying, would be that with humans being social animals by "moving on" at peace would decrease the likely hood that those "left behind" would succub to depression making it easier for them to get back on their feet and do what they need to do to survive durring that time period.

If the DMT rush almost always happens in humans then it's presence is just what death looks like. The better way to investigate this is to look at other animals to see if any of them have it and if the are any evolutionary commonalities.

Ooorrr it could just be dumb luck. Random mutations happen all the time. Back in the day Unga-Bunga's brain just happened to develop in this way, he had a load of kids who also picked up the adaptation, UB kicked the bucket and no-one knew he got a free checking-out show, what a bummer. But his kids had kids, the adaptation spread, and here we are. Just because we have something it doesn't always mean it's there for a reason. Looking at you appendix. Also, 90% of people are right-handed. Why? There's no inherent advantage to being either right or left-handed overall, only in certain situations. Looking at it in terms of beneficial effect, really ambidextrous people should be the overwhelming majority as that must be more practical use. So just because something becomes prevalent in our 'design' doesn't always mean it's necessarily the best option, sometimes it's just the one that got lucky.

It could be a mixture of the two. Died and soul went to hell. But time works differently on the other side. She was dead for an hour, soul spent, what did she say, six months in Hell. Think about it in terms of Dean Winchester. Four months real time, 40 years in Hell. Even Dean essentially became a demon and a torturer for Hell after enough torture. So what came back for the evolved character was still her. But it was her after getting tortured enough that she became demonic herself.
