      Haha, not my favorite word choice either, but it could be worse. Thanks for watching!

    Wow those are much cooler then hood pins.

      Michael S. I agree! Had them a few months now and no rust or any issues. Very good stuff.

    I would have installed a blocking pin with a cable and spring to prevent the L arm from moving.

      You should! I just checked and Mr. Gasket 1472 Hood Locks are still available on Amazon in Canada and the US. Ignore the few negative reviews, the product is good and with properly adjusted pins the locks work perfectly. Mine still do and not a speck of rust.

    Just wondering since im doing this same set up of hoodlocks on my hood.. would i unlock hood with key first then pop the hood with handle ? Im in a honda civic ?

    Can I use this same lock for my trunk to secure my audio?

    • @TurboCamaro67
      @TurboCamaro67  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sure you could, you might want to take some extra time to put some sealer around the hole and even the lock to the big washer or you'll risk getting water in there. I've had these locks outside now since this video and they are hold up with no signs of rust.

      @@TurboCamaro67 I had a thought, question, are the keys universal, if so you would have to incorporate some sort of strategy/device to prevent the vehicle from starting?

    • @TurboCamaro67
      @TurboCamaro67  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My understanding is this kit has a number of key variations but obviously someone could get lucky with a similar style bike lock key and defeat the lock. In my case, I have an alarm system with starter control (see alarm video) but you could hook up some kind of hidden starter solenoid or ignition button/switch in the vehicle interior. I've never been afraid of someone stealing the car in that way, I think it's more likey planned ahead of time and they'd get access to a tow truck to just hook it and book it.

    Did you ever sanded and polished the paint ?

    • @TurboCamaro67
      @TurboCamaro67  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jose Felguerez Most of the car I did, some areas where I used a cheap skim coat actuslly caused some small bubbling that I should have sanded and done a cut polish. I've left it a while now as I intend to something different with the exterior, just have other big upgrades on the go. Maybe next summer for the paint.

    Hopefully you never need in the hood quickly like in case of fire.

    • @TurboCamaro67
      @TurboCamaro67  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hah, the thought had crossed my mind. Where I live it's probably more likely someone will steal the car, or part of it before it would catch fire. Perhaps someone needs to invent an under dash release mechanism that looks like good pins, so we get the best of both worlds.

    Sir ,where i live , battery theft is very common. So i was thinking of using this to protect my bonnet from opening. Please tell when bonnet is closed and locked and someone try to pop it up from inside or outside , will it still pop up or , what happn then ?

    • @TurboCamaro67
      @TurboCamaro67  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      With how close I got the pins to the holes the hood does not move with I press the release. I'm sure with enough effort someone could just pry the hood open but they'd do damage and make some noise, probably set off the alarm too.

      Turbo Camaro Dear sir , one small query. When this hood lock is applied and bonnet is completely locked. Now if i open it from inside car liver , what will happen ?
      Liver won't push ?
      Or it will push but bonnet won't open still ?
      Or it gets stuck in between ?

    Very good, can't wait for the key to break...

    • @TurboCamaro67
      @TurboCamaro67  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would be unfortunate, good thing it comes with 2 keys for each lock (4 keys total). I've had these installed for a couple years now and haven't had any of them break or start sticking. Thanks for watching.

    • @TurboCamaro67
      @TurboCamaro67  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The hood is a base model 67 Camaro stock hood. The locks can be purchased on Amazon or maybe a local parts store can bring the Mr. Gasket Stainless Hood Lock Kit in.

      @@TurboCamaro67 people were saying these weren't good and always snapped in half. How are yours working out and do you daily drive your Camaro?

    • @TurboCamaro67
      @TurboCamaro67  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@trentdaddydolla647 I've had no problems with them. I live the cylinders every once in a while and I ensured their was no resistance when I installed them. They went made of titanium so I'd bet they'd shear off if they were misaligned or the hood bounced around too much. I've managed to roast the piston rings and am waiting to do some major work on it. Locks are still recommended though.

    Lol... I wAtched to see the assembly of the plates and rubber plate of the locking pin.... Sad.... It was mostly about the car.

      Sorry I didn't do a lot of detail on the order of assembly. I made the video mostly to show the final look and function and what I had to do for this vehicle. The instructions for the lock set cover the lock assembly quite well. Thanks for watching!

      I think they look good, and still work as good as they say they were installed. Not a lot of options for locks for daily drivers unless you want to install a new under dash latch system Thanks for watching!
