@@Jay-lz2wc hello Dark Souls senior, I am an Elden Ring junior, I really wanted to play Dark Souls 3 but feel this weird OCD because Im playing the 3rd one before the first, do you recommend me going through 1 and 2 first before 3 or just go straight to 3? @apolloisashirt honestly I started with 3 and then moved to 1. It will be easier in some ways and harder in others but I don't think it diminishes your experience to play them out of order Ds3 feels like the more modern game but it expects you to be familiar with the franchise (or at least the concepts it uses) already. @@Jay-lz2wc Ah I see, I'd say I'm pretty experienced then as I've beat Elden Ring like 9 times already. I know this comment will likely never see the light of day. However, Bravo, this is an outstanding performance and I was both gripped by the flashbacks of trying to fight O&S and the beautiful melancholy sound the final battle with Lord Gwin. Outstanding and thank you all for your hard work.
Pay your respects to these magnificent musicians. They have to start over every time you die 5 seconds into a fight. Seriously though, outstanding stuff!
Bro I love dark souls but this statement is completely false, it has less than 5 good songs, yes those few songs are real good but the dark souls OST doesn't compare to other soundtrack like xenoblade, zelda, persona, elden ring, fire emblem, final fantasy etc.
absolutely love this! Please consider doing tracks from bloodborne in the near future. Specifically ghermans, or ludwigs tracks. Though they're all incredible tracks.
The instrumentation for the piece is one of never seen before. it's insane. They have a contra bass sax, bass and contra bass flute,a cimbasso, contra bass trombone, ophecleide, contra bassoon, a contra bass clarinet and a sub contra bass clarinet, harpsichord, piccolo, english horn, soprano sax, wagner tuba and possibly a bass trumpet(though it could just be a wierd looking rotary trumpet but it isnt usual to have 1 rotary and multiple normal trumpets)
A great performance of the pieces, but I feel like Gwyn's theme loses a bit of the meaning behind it when played by a full orchestra. After fighting countless gods, demons, monsters, and men to the time of booming orchestras and screaming choirs, having the final boss theme be just a simple piano piece really enforces the tragedy behind the fight.
The Original Zatharax That’s not a loss of meaning though, that’s just a different meaning (which, yes, technically means that you lose the original meaning, but it’s not like it’s not replaced is what I’m getting at). We hear a melody that’s supposed to evoke both sorrow and pity. But that person wasn’t always that, so I think it’s not unbefitting of Gwyn’s theme to have more powerful variations, to pay homage to his former glory, even if it’s still tainted by the sadness of his sacrifice and hence ultimate demise.
I know what you mean. A lot of the boss fights give you the feeling that you're on some grand journey through this time, you're doing something heroic, changing and saving Lordran, yet by the time you reach Gwyn you are disillusioned, it's not a heroic journey, it's a tragedy, you're just the person who's going to wrap it up for them. It's sad but the simplicity of Gwyn's theme really hits a spot. I absolutely love it. Though this version isn't particularly bad, it takes that very feeling away, so I get it.
