bloody hell!! so full of energy and so tight. I saw them for the first time in 77 on the "no more heroes" tour. They were great then but this set is awesome!!
Great recording. I wish I was able to see them back in 77. My first gig was the MIB tour in 1981. The sound is so clear and my personal favourite track here is Straighten out " , it's a shame Dave's swelling organ isn't higher in the mix for the first part of his solo.
Thanks , I love a bit of smutty language but the credit goes to Hugh Cornwell . Have you listened to "Tits" ?? I was in stitches when I first heard Hugh's double entendres as he introduced the band . It's an early Stranglers song and they played it to show audiences that they weren't taking their music too seriously.
They used the wrong recording sessions from The Roundhouse on X Cert, I have a better Roundhouse recording that begins with Heroes that is as good as this. Crunchy and clear.
didnt the Stranglers have a beef with the soft Clash? i did read that they nearly came to blows. i know who would have walked out of that alley....im listening to them right now! another great one V-Cobra!
@@jonblazeinc Rotten says a lot of things he doesnt really mean, I bet he really loves The Stranglers, The Pistols were well known for being at a lot of the early Stranglers shows, Ive read quite a few times how Jet used to give Paul Cook tips on how to play the drums.
@@fusionreactor8265 In 76 yes stranglers and pistols hanged together at sessions...I think once they started releasing their records and through 77 probably wasn't the case anymore.... maybe had professional respect for each other
Great set from a great band whoever gave thumbs down TOSSERS
The Stranglers are without a doubt the greatest group in the entire history of the world !
Who would argue with someone called 'Fusion Reactor' ?
I love The Stranglers..have always loved The Stranglers..and will continue to love them at every available opportunity.
A play on the original quote that not many will get I think! Well done.

Great stuff always loved the Stranglers, wonder who put thumbs down what we're they expecting 😂
That synth under / over Hugh's vocal in Straighten out is soooo cool !!!
Never heard it on any other recording !
fantastic quality for such an early recording.
Wow. My 15th birthday.... Was too young to get in got a record instead. The following week! Rattus! Stranglers for Ever!

Feel like a dog ........ Not to upset the snowflakes.. what a banging tune
Recorded by the BBC at the Paris theatre London April 1977.
I was thinking this might be the Hope & Anchor recording. Either way, it’s immense 👍🏻
They were amazing in their day and here is the evidence!
thank you so much. I cant believe how much I followed and loved this band. Dunfermline, first time cancelled, second time onstage.....
In 1977 every punk suddenly played music. They were musicians who suddenly played punk ;-)
But played punk better than the rest
yea i like that ! good point.

Incredibly tight performance but looks as though this was recorded soon after Ratus were released. Pity it's just audio but still rather excellent
First time hearing..1981. Portland,me
