Thanks for the review. Am going to give it a try and just bought a second hand, as new condition one that arrives next week. Wanted a light telephoto lens for hiking (paired with a 15-45 and XE4). Let's see if it works!
I love this lens. I use it on my Fujifilm X-T30 for air show videos and photos. I got great videos and photos of the Air Force Thunderbirds and the Navy Blue Angels. ❤
i have a fujifilm xt100 i need a 400m-500mm lens for planespotting but i cant find any budget lens like the xc50 and 230mm is not enough zoom for me do you have any reccomendation?
Hi! If you need longer than 230 mm then it gets tricky. It certainly is not going to be a budget lens. The longest native lens for Fuji X-mount is 150-600mm. That is very expensive. You may want to look into using tele converters. This is a way to extend your lens for cheap. You can also consider non-native lenses that can be attached via an adapter. One affordable example is Tamron SP 500mm f/8. Kind regards!
Hi Klavishnica! Yes, I do my best t respond to everyone. For me interacting with people is a big part of the experience. I'm making my videos with the intent to benefit my viewers. Best of luck to you!
hi, i have plan to buy this lens to combine with xt30 to take pictures of moving cars and motorbikes. but I see you replied in another comment that this lens is not optimal for that because it is not bright enough for fast action. is there any suggestion of other lens that is better than this lens with similar price?
Hi Toni! Thank you for asking! This lens has many positives, but it’s true that it’s not very fast (both in terms of capturing light and focusing). However, it will still work and isn’t a bad option to consider. Your best option would probably be the XF 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR or even the XF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS WR. Unfortunately, these lenses are expensive. Some people also use the XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR for cars, but it has less reach than the other options and isn’t a zoom lens. If you’re photographing a fast-moving object in bright daylight and it’s not very far away, just about any X-mount lens can work. Best of luck to you!
@@Toni_Pratama Hi! Yes, absolutely. You'll find that the XC 50-230 is a really nice lens. It combines great reach with light weight and I love its image stabilization. Enjoy your photography!
Hi Lines of a Lifetime! Thank you for asking. Yes, this lens will work very well with your X-T200. It might not be optimal for sports, though, because the smallest F-stops are not small enough for fast action (especially in low light). Kind regards!
yesterday I bought xc50-230 second hand which cost HK$1000 which is almost new and have Fujifilm warranty nearly 1 year. I already took 300 photo for this for a volleyball . This photo is sharp enough for me.
I'm excited to try this lens out. Got what seems like a decent deal on ebay ($150, used in good condition). Paired with my X-T30, an XC15-45, and a cheap manual 7artisans 35mm f/1.2, I think this lens will help make an excellent lightweight travel kit (previously, I had a 60D kit, but ended up selling because I just didn't want to travel with all that weight. That camera plus two of its lightest primes (40/2.8 and 50/1.8) weighs almost as much as this full kit)
Hi A Killer Squirrel! Congratulations, this is a great lens to buy. What you say about camera weight is very true, too. This is precisely why I like my Fuji cameras. Cheers!
Hi! Thank you for asking. I view these lenses as very different. The XF 18-55 is a versatile every day lens that can handle most situations well. The XC 50-230 is a specialized lens suitable for telephoto work (in bright light or when using a tripod). These lenses fill different purposes. If you only own one lens then the 18-55 is generally a better choice. The 50-230 is a good second choice for certain special situations. Kind regards!
Hi! Thank you for asking. This is a very good lens and will work for multiple purposes. However, it is primarily a telephoto lens and therefore the minimum focusing distance is not optimal for food photography. It can work in certain situations but you'd be better served with some other options. Kind regards!
Of course it will work. It is a great lens for the money. I have 2. They came with my Fujifilm X-T10, and X-T20. Each camera also came with the standard 18-55mm 3.5 lens. When I bought the Fujifilm X-T30 it came with the 18-55mm 2.8 lens. They are all good lenses. ❤
Hello! Thanks for asking. I think the Fujinon XC 50-230 mm lens will work very well for long distance video shots from tripod. It has image stabilization and for capturing landscape you typically don't mind that very large apertures are not possible. I've used this lens for long distance landscape work and I've been happy with the results. If you care much about bokeh then there are other lenses that perform better. Happy photography!
Hi Stefan! Thank you for your question. The version II has more advanced optical image stabilization. Basically it gives you more stability so you can go to slower shutter speeds. The advantage is supposed to be 1/2 stops but some users have reported much bigger differences (even up to 2 stops). I hope this helps you. Kind regards!
Hello! Thank you for asking. This lens should work very well with X-T200. I see it mainly used for landscape telephoto work. So it's really nice for travel because it's light weight. The lens may not be bright enough for wildlife photography. For wedding you might light a bit more bokeh than this lens can offer. Kind regards!
