With the manner DDP got that belt, if he has a true competitor spirit, he should ask UFC to give Strickland a rematch as much as Sean himself wants one. These other matches should come second to proving he truly won that title.
DDP knows he logically lost the fight, and only eeked it out by risking a sneaky headbutt. It is pretty clear in replay that Sean has barely a cut over his left eye, then DDP headbutts him and blood starts gushing from the cut(conveniently camera angle is all from rear and no other footage released as if they dont have cams all around?) - that is the only reason DDP won is because of that damage done illegally.
If it was an accident or not, it is not an accident that the Referee, judges and the athletic commission all decided to ignore this. He didnt have a point deducted (would have been a draw and Champ keeps belt), judges counted it as damage (even though DDP was INCAPABLE of doing that damage legally) and the Athletic Commission did not review, comment on or revise it.
Theres no way DDP wants that rematch with Strickland, he literally had nothing that could hurt Sean except sneaky headbutt and useless takedowns that resulted in 0 hits.
Dricus Du P*ssy plans to pretend injuries for the next year or so while sitting on the belt, pretending to be the Champ he is not, then lose it to the first guy he fight. Watch and see. UFC rly F up by handing him a belt when he didn't deserve it. They hated Sean because of politics, but DDP is so much worse for the sport itself. Thats what happens when you undermine your own sport over stupid sh*t that happens outside the octagon.

I think Strickland did more damage, we all saw Dricus' face after. Strickland's star is burning white hot, and with how fast everything is going for him, and the heat he's attracted, I'm genuinely worried about him. Maybe a little cool down time is a good thing for his mental health. He's already the champ in my eyes. I just hope he takes care of himself, and that someone's looking out for him and his best interests.

Sean won’t get a shot at the belt for the next 3 years unless he apologizes for his rhetoric. If he stops talking social and political issues, or apologizes, they will allow him to be the stepping stone for other contenders. A shot at the belt is an impossibility.

Strickland absolutely deserves the rematch, he didn’t even lose that fight. You take away the headbutt and he’s not even bleeding. Khumshot does not deserve the title fight even if he beats Bobby knuckles. Khamzhat hasn’t even fought a ranked middleweight, and hasn’t finished an opponent since jing a ling jong.

Uncle Chael... does the UFC ever stop fighters from getting fights purely because they don't like them. Example: do you think the UFC does not like Sean Strickland with him saying crazy stuff? Which I love! My question is if you think the UFC will hinder Sean from moving up because they don't want him to be the champ?
There is absolutely no way they put Bo in there versus Khamzat next. Bo is on the O'Malley timeline of being built up by the UFC. They are going to put him in there against someone with a number next to their name for their next fight, but it's going to be someone who he has as good of a style matchup against as possible to maximize his odds of winning. Someone like a Paul Craig or Marvin Vettori who don't have that good of standup skills and who want to take the fight to the ground as soon as possible.
Bo won't even fight a ranked guy after Brundage. No way. Maybe by the end of the year

We were interested in him Vs DuPlessis when we thought DuPlessis was having success winding Adesanya up and might beat him. Now Adesanya is away from the belt, that interest is dead and no one wants to see Adesanya given an opportunity to fight for the belt and stink up 1 or more main events. He should retire.
Being the backup would usually put you up for winner. Being the backup in this scenario doesn't seem to have that in the cards .
Since Shawn beat the brakes off adesanya for 5 rounds and the fight was a split decision, I say roll it back for DDP vs Strickland. Put adesanya in against Costa or Bo nickel.

Hes on the PPV bc algorithmically, theyve decided by the numbers and cohorts, the people that buy PPVs have crossover with Bo Nickal fandom, so it's a more valuable move for the UFC. That doesnt mean it makes sense or is actually warranted whatsoever competitively, and that's exactly the situation we're in.
I think the most interesting outcome here is the UFC gambling with their money essentially and spoiling it for themselves by Bo not having a great performance. The fans will turn on him in such a case just like Paddy for not winning empathetically enough. Fans see this stuff for what it is, and despise the promotion not putting on better fights and they use this ammo to assault the UFC's future stars the moment it doesnt go according to script. The direction the sport has taken, seemingly since the UFC was bought out, points to a watering down of the league. Suddenly top fighters arent secured long term, matchups stink to high heaven, etc. Its no longer that league where we always get the fighters in their prime against each other. Its got built in excuse making now for not delivering the highest competition every time out, similar to why boxing became stale. I dont even watch a lot of cards bc i just don't care that much anymore. Otherwise it’s 2 vs unranked. He’ll probably go to #9. I highly doubt they put a grapple heavy Bo in there with Sean right now. If they are gonna go for that kind of fight, it’ll be costa, not Sean. Let’s see who is right.
