My favorite player. Went to Detroit on the 10th anniversary of the Pine Tar Game and Brett hit 2 Home Runs. His only multi HR game of his final season. In his book he said he knew he was going to do something good that day.
I had the Largest George Brett card collection in America. Well over 10,000 of just him. I had binders of cards every page had 18 of every card. The Greatest.
Maybe my favorite baseball play all time involved George Brett playing 3rd. He is playing close to the bag and there is a man on third. Grounder is hit right to him and he acts like he is going to throw to first. The runner on third starts for home but George does not go to first but nonchalantly tags the runner out. Last thing me and the runner expected.
Only got to see him play once against the Orioles in 91. The last season in Memorial Stadium. He hit a one hopper over the center field fence for a ground rule double.
"I never hit a home run trying, it was the result of making a good swing". Although that might sound simple, that it the best advise a youngster learning to hit could ever hear.
George was my favorite baseball card and player. Wanna talk about the old days when players hit the ball more - Pete Rose was the definitive player. Yet denied Hall of Fame status over gambling? Ridiculous. We all miss those days, the golden age of sports.
Second Greatest 3rd Basemen of ALL TIME (behind Schmidt of course). Unfortunately, he just was not a very good defensive ball player, average defensively at best.
Brett was actually a very good ballplayer defensively. He did like to overthrow the 1st baseman once in a while, but he actually won a Gold Glove, and he made a play in the 1985 ALCS that probably saved a game for the Royals.
Brett one of 5 players in MLB history that I would want at the plate in the bottom of the 9th. Fantastic clutch player
I loved George as a kid. I would emulate my stance after him. I loved that closed stance of his. He was a beast.
Agreed! I think Charlie Lau was the batting coach. Classic swing!
Yeah I think so too. I still remember the ‘pine tar game’. Ha

Best hitter ever .
Ted Williams and Tony Gwynn may have something to say about that.
My all time favorite baseball player and first major crush as a young girl! Love George! Thanks for having him on the show!!
You and many young girls in Kansas City had crushes on George. He was a bachelor till about 1990.
Imagine how many home runs he would have if he didn't play in Royals Stadium. Well over 400.
The coolest player ever to watch.
I love when you have George on
Saw him in the metrodome... he hit a ball so hard off the press box it landed in the infield.... damn

Holy shit
No wonder I had such a hard time finding some! I think I have every card ever made of #5. Haven’t had them out in a couple decades.

So much personality and knowledge of the game. You don't get that at 20 years old these days nevermiind 67.
Seems so genuine. Very likeable.
One of my three top mlb players. The other two are Nolan Ryan and Pete Rose.
Only got to see him play once against the Orioles in 91. The last season in Memorial Stadium. He hit a one hopper over the center field fence for a ground rule double.
My favriotest royal of all time
Does it ever bug Dan when he can't control a conversation.
It's hilarious.
Schmidt and Brett one and two greatest 3rd baseman in MLB history.
The Man. Straight up.

Would love to have one of the bats with all the signatures. That is so cool. Now I start searching eBay. LOL

Billy Martin was a tactical genius. No other manager would’ve caught that. Earl Weaver or Sparky maybe.
Billy was a shi_. Nobody like him or trusted him....he would have cheated any time he could
Alex Robinson rofl
Dan pissed about the show n tell thing. Look at his face lololol.
Not how he wanted to start the George Brett show.

Schmidt was amazing. Brett, Boggs are right up there. I am sure I am missing a few.

Actually if you look at all the stats, not just home runs. Brett is better than Schmidt. Plus wayyyy more clutch.
@@randomname3715 yeah I'd take George any day. He had so many Big Time moments. I mean the guy was an inch away from hitting .400
