Thank you! I’m a 19 year old college student and was quoted over $1,000 dollars at a shop to replace rear struts/shocks on my 07 Camry because they told me you have to dismantle the back seat to get access to the shocks. I see what they mean but they wanted around $700 in labor costs, which seems really steep.
Its called profit. They cant lose out just to accommodate someone
This channel is starting to become a regular for me. Thanks, guys, for all your helpful vids :)
Thanks for checking us out! Have a great weekend. +Christopher Lee
Excellent - Thanks. This is the best demo I have seen. So clear and well presented. Saving me over $150 per side.
+GAZZ MAN Thanks for checking us out!
Excellent job done bro ....
One Suggestion...... When you hammer bolts out of shock absorbers, you should put nuts on the top of bolts, so that hammering shouldn't damage the groves ...
Hope i was able to explain and it was conveyed properly ..
Thank You .
Thank you awesome video.
I have used quite a few of yours overtime to keep my 06 Camry Le going.
Thank you for the videos
This is one of the MOST useful channels on TH-cam. You guys are awesome!
I wish this would take me 18min to do but it will prob take me 4hrs in real time lol. Great video, thanks.

Nice to see setting realistic expectations for that dang OEM sway bar link hex socket. I am very impressed with the factory tapered bolts through Toyota knuckles; unlike their straight predecessors, these will not rust and seize into the knuckle.
Put strut bolt nut back on the bolt a few threads and hammer on the nut so you don't damage the bolt threads.
SIDE NOTE: If you have the XLE and have the recline-able rear seats you won't have those pieces on the sides. The top bolts are under the soft cloth covers between the top of the seat back and the rear shelf. Easy to access, but bolts still a pain.
I use a TORCH for those sway bar links...works every time
The stabilizer bar will NOT strip if you use a Torx screwdriver instead of Allen key.
True statement
Do you know what size torx it is? :)
@@KamykoGamingSquad t30 i believe
Use a bottle jack to push the strut assemble up to push the three studs up into the car so you can get the three nuts started.
Great clear and amazing video.. thanks 1A auto..
Yes, thank god Moog was smart enough to add an additional part to hold the sway bar end link while tightening/removing the nut.
If you are replacing the strut assemble, replace the sway bar link and the antisway bar bushings.
gracias; buena ilustración de reemplazo de amortiguadores posteriores; toyota camry
Really wish your guys' stuff was a bit cheaper to show support for your videos. Bought my 07 manual transmission Camry 2 years ago.
Doing this project now but man, it's become a 2 day project. So much trash underneath that backseat 😂
Thanks so much 1Auto.
Very good video. Thank you so much for clear instruction.

+Raul Aybar Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Great explanation! Thanks!
Would you recommend just replacing the end links on a car that old?
Does it matter if you fully tighten the top nuts on the strut when the car is on the ground vs suspended on a lift or jack? I see some people say you should lower the car and then tighten the top nuts is why I'm asking. Thanks for your awesome videos!!
i replaced my front shocks this past weekend and we tightened the top bolts to 76 ft lbs while the car was still in the air
Was the replacement shock 2wheel or 4wheel drive?
1AAuto where have u been all my life?? I will assume you sell to the public, right? Are you pretty competitive, or cheaper, than our local Auto Zone/Oreilly?

Does the rust penetrant compromise the rubber lines for brake fluid and abs?
Hey yeah, nice video but I have to critique it: you most likely will need to remove the rear sway bar (unbolt it and drop it) for the control arms to flex enough to get the new strut in and bolted. This was on an 07 V6 Camry - 4cyl models may differ. Also, cars with reclining rear seats (V6 XLE's) are difficult to fit a tq wrench in for the top 3 nuts....AND you may want to leave the back seats out when your done, lower the car with wheels back on, THEN re torque those top 3 nuts with all the weight of the car on the strut now...thanks
Kind of funny he did the front struts and he goes use 66 lb/ft of torque on the top nuts guess what I snapped one right off all that work for nothing and had to wait for replacement. I called Toyota they didn't really want to tell me so I went there and had the guy look it up on his computer and Low and behold Toyota spec for front struts is 29 ft/lb 155 ft/lb for the lower 2 bolts. And 55ft/lbs for the front stabilizer links I used MOOG more beefy than original Toyota links and they have a nut on the back it's a breeze to install them.
On the rears the lower bolt doesn't come out you can't just tap it because its head goes straight in the brake caliper I had to remove the top bolt on the caliper and seeing it out of the way.
Thanks for the feedback! +Sanjeev Goswami
How is the quality of the strut? is this OEM? Since the price is significantly lower than what dealer suggests
I have an 08 XLE and I cannot get the new rear right strut assembly to fit. I compared everything, and it all looks identical. The problem is the two lower mounting bolts. I cannot get the knuckle to line up to the top hole to thread the bolt through, the bottom bolt reinstalls easily.
After replacing I still hear a bit of sound that I think is from the sway bar. Does that need to adjust to the new struts or should I check it or maybe it’s too tight?
Does your product match EXACTLY the stock ride height? I replaced Camry struts via a retail parts supplier…they lifted my car 1.5” per side. I never got over it. Oh I was p%ssed.
is there more a heavy duty spring or shock you can get?
Thanks that was helpful
+AMMAR ALAMDAR Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
thank you so much!!!
Do a video on the 08 XLE it totally different from this had it for 5 years still have no idea how to take it off

RepIaced both struts on my 07 Camry. When I test drove it the left front clunks when I go over any bump. Rechecked and retorqued all. I appears the the strut was not set correctly from the factory. If I push on the left front of the car I can see play where it comes through the wheel well and can hear it also. There is a distinct difference in the amount of thread showing between the left and right. Is it possible to adjust these on the car?
+wayne perkins Sometimes the top nut will loosen and can be tightened back down if this is where the rattle is coming from. Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
Which strut is that the two bigs one?
I have a question after I finished all shocks do I have to do alignment?
+rosendo mendoza Changing these components will affect your alignment. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
I took my camry 2009 to the mechanics told them to fix all suspension that needs fixing. They fixed 1 or 2 things said my car was ready to be picked up. Then told me that the Rear Right Hand Strut will need to be replaced in about 3 or 4months time because its making a slight noise. I think they missed this, and this was the main noise I wanted solved. It so obvious when driving. I know it's making more then just a slight noise. Its a horrible hard knocking when on bumpy highway and roads. I've travelled in it they only took 4 a test drive on small my local town street. Its wasting my money and time when they can't do what I ask. The drive is pulling when braking, wobbling and all I hear is a whole lot of noise from that side and when your a passenger on that side it's awful. The car just got new tyres, by 3 or 4 time ill have wearing. Since now I found this video I am defiantly going to attempt this myself. Thanks so much for this simple video.

@@1AAuto Are you based in Australia?
+Elisabeth We are based in the US and our video studio is out of Massachusetts.
Does is the same thing on the SE model ???
This process should be the same for all Toyota Camry models from 2007-2011!
Hi guys,
Will this work on the 2008 hybrid Camry too?
+hawk362_Prince We don't have a how-to video for your vehicle right now, but the basic steps in this video should be enough to do this task. Buy this part for your vehicle on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
If you are going to replace the sway bar do you need to remove that first bolt that holds the sway bar to the strut? Can you just remove the lower one of the sway bar? Then you only need to remove one of those sway bar nuts and toss the sway bar attached with the strut to garbage?
my 2014 Camry SE sport has rear leaking strut, what is the part numbers do i need to order? only one side is leaking
+ZKRD The rear RH Passengers side is 1ASTS01454 and the rear LH Drivers side is 1ASTS01453. Thanks for watching.
Is this the same for the 09 Camry Hybrid?
+Jon Gaspar This part 1ASTS00813 is listed to fit all 2009 Camry models.
@@1AAuto I know the part fits, but the hybrid battery is in the back seat area. I don't know if I can access the 3 upper bolts to the strut without being in danger of electrocution from the orange high-voltage wires / battery. Also, do I need to disconnect anything electrical. I ran into an electrical sh@#t storm just bleeding brakes.
I was gonna say if that didn't strip on him this would have been rigged. Those links always strip. Terrible design.
+Claude Smoot Thanks for watching. Have a great day! 1aauto.com
I'm gonna skip all that nonsense and try my angle grinder with a cutting disc
@@jmccomas2010 My preference: just drill the bolt out, using the hex hole to center the drill bit.
U removed top sway bar wrong. It has huge pressure downward. You need to jack up control arm 2 inches or so to relieve pressure, simultaneously support drum with jack or another jack to prevent ripping control socket downward too far.
Stabilizer nut removal = Angle grinder with a cut-off wheel.
Will this work on corolla 2015 S??
+jorge murillo At this moment, the closest how-to video we have to your request is for this vehicle, which is very similar to the one you have. The steps may not be 100% the same, but should contain an adequate amount of information necessary for accomplishing this task
Have a different seat ?
Would it work with a 2002 Camry?
+Joshua Escobar The installation process should be very similar for your vehicle.
A little heat it shouldn't take much should do the trick but don't spray it first because the penetrant will catch fire, I have to change the front and rear on my neighbors 09 corolla, why no air tools just curious.
Haven't asked if it wasnt front, rear or all but local garage was going to charge my father-in-law $2000 for struts on a 2010 Camry.
Well parts alone are about 500 for quality parts and whatever they charge labor wise probably 1.5 hours per unit
Hold the wheel so it doesn't fall off, really I have to beat the hell out my rims to get them off.
Does a 2009 Camry have shocks?
+kevin le Thanks for watching! The 2009 Camry has only struts for all 4 corners. 1aauto.com
Wouldn't you want to use the F word sometimes
