I've seen a few videos where they're being used on saltwater beaches and it looks like they do great...
Hitting a small gold ring at 12" isn't bad..
Granted a pulse induction detector would be better.
But a $250 machine thats waterproof and can do land, saltwater beaches, AND gets really good depth like what I've seen, that is amazing!
The only improvements I would recommend is improving the vid and maybe a custom mode that allows you to notch out certain areas and choose which tones you want to use..
And maybe adjust the volume so deeper targets don't go quite as faint.
It's definitely worth the money and makes you question whether it's worth that extra $500+ to buy the higher-end detector when this one can get the job done in most cases..

I hunted with this machine last night and was really impressed. It was really easy and intuitive to use. There isn’t a better value out there. It’s not gonna outperform a Deaus or Equinox 800, but it’s not far behind and 1/3-1/4 the price. If your looking for a good first machine this will serve you well for a long time. The green headphones were a little small on my jug head, but not too small or uncomfortable. I found a small button and Confederate bullet

    • @pictlandpickers1171

Nice one. I think its probably just lacks a bit on the discrimination in comparison to those other machines. It finds really deep items though

I liked your review. I bought one of these and sold it to a friend. You definitely get more than what you pay for imo. But it doesn't out perform my $900 detector and it shouldn't even though some other videos showed it doing just that. What they left out was that on the deeper targets there was no VDIs and the audio got very weak. Thank you for showing that.

No hype needed. All one has to do is walk around with one of these for a bit and you'll see just how great it is, especially for the price. LOVE my Simplex. My simplex got put to an alternate use yesterday. My kids are putting a pool in, right now they're clearing the spot where it will sit, getting ready for a layer of sand to go down. 2 years ago they did a bunch of siding and a little roof work to their place, so I took my simplex out yesterday and walked the area where the pool is going to go, and it's a good thing I did, we found a huge construction staple and several siding/roofing screws. Would not have been good for their pool liner to sit on those, for sure. When we were done clearing the pool area, my son in law and I walked the rest of the yard near the house and got several more siding/roofing screws. Didn't find anything of monetary value, but keeping their lawn mower from picking up screws under their grass and throwing them in the direction of family members is of more than monetary value. I learned a cool trick with mine a little while back, too. I put it in park mode and turn the sensitivity down as low as it would go and walked around the bleachers at the city park's baseball diamond. Found about a dollar in change in less than 10 minutes, all on top of the ground, just down under the grass. No digging required to get them, so no permission needed from city hall to do.

I own a Simplex and have tested it over the past three weeks and I would say this is a fair and accurate review of the machine. It's not going to compete with machines like the Nox & Deus in every situation but it does hold it's own very well. When you consider the cost, it's performance is actually quite impressive. If your looking for an inexpensive waterproof machine that has good depth and build quality then the Simplex is a very capable machine and is worth considering.

Hey I’ve been frustrated with mine so far. I just got it yesterday. It seems like it only goes about 6 inches deep, it also give a bunch of staticky beeps. It seems like it beeps so much that I don’t know where to dig. I ground balanced, lowered the sense but it still gives off like 100 staticky beeps on each swing. Should I return it for a new one or is that how it’s supposed to work?

New sub Amphibious Detecting highly recommends your channel, I agree with everything you have said with the little time I have put into the simplex and you are so correct about people comparing it to higher end units when in fact they should be comparing it for what you are getting for your buck plus performance and features, as of right now I would be hard pressed to find another machine Equal in price that has the features and possibly performance, I mean you do have the multi frequency low level machine that is like twenty two bucks more than your base simplex but good luck viewing your display in deep woods or in a dark situation in the rain.

The simplex is flying here in the UK. I love the machine. And here’s abit of advice to those who are struggling with understanding the 3 tone or 2 tone field modes. Run it in beach mode inland. This is a single tone that is also very deep run the ground balance at 90 and it will be winner. I know it sounds crazy but Trust me this works.

First I don’t understand your title don’t believe the hype. It did everything you had it do very well. As far as the vdi numbers go I do not have that problem with them not showing up so I wonder if its a issue with a update because I don’t believe I have done the updates yet. The biggest problem I have is people saying it should not be compared to a expensive machine. The fact is it will preform as well as a expensive machine and I know people hate this because it is a lot cheaper but face the facts it does do just as well. I own one I am not a rep nor am I trying to sell them I am just tired of it not getting the recognition it deserves.

I LOVE the way the Simplex+ feels (especially with the 9x5" coil) and sounds, but it doesn't even come close to the depth of the AT Max. It shouldn't I guess, but I bought it because of all the hype and videos I've seen of its performance. At 6-7" it doesn't find much at all unfortunately.

Minelab has the Equinox, Nokta with the Simplex+, XP with their Deus and ORX and now C.Scope with the EVO-6000. There is no denying the value for money here though. Just a shame we pay more for it in the UK than our friends in the USA. Also it is permanently "out of stock" so that doesn't help.

Shawn I will give you some advice and my advice would be do not listen to reviews online. Basically by a old minelab but in the best possible condition either a explorer xs , explorer 2, e trac they tend to be a bit heavy but you get use to it or you can get or adapt a hip mount you can still get replacement rechargeable battery packs or use standard batteries a minelab should come with both battery units. The minelab xs is minelabs first turn on and go with diplay over 20 years old and the only minelab that I feel truly surpasses it is the ctx3030 but its 800-1000 more so even more when coverted to dollars. Its worth paying out up to £300 for a minelab explorer xs or explorer 2. This difference is minelabs technology they are still the world leaders and got it right 20 years ago so its been near impossible even for them to improve it. I have had garret ace 150, 250 I had tesoro cibola the old version but you have to learn the sound to know what you are digging and its only good for 5-6" on coins. Garrett are okish on land but awful on sand obviously the high price garrett detectors are decent on land but still rubbish on the beach. I could waffle on all day about minelabs I belong to a metal detecting club in the u.k as there is no way to access land legally otherwise. We have about 50 die hard members nearly all of them use old machines like whites detectors or some obscure make I have never heard of. Some are now updating to minelab ctx3030. Not everone can understand how a detector truly works like playing music by ear I can hear what my machine is telling me it took me 5 months to workout what I was digging without having to look at the screen BUT don't be fooled as there isn't a detector on the planet that can tell you exactly what you are going to dig metal wise as many metal mimic one another. Probably 90 percent of people sell there detector in the first 2 years or use it a handful of times then sell. Cheap detectors are cheap for a reason its best to buy collection only and get the seller to take you out with it if he wants your money and has nothing to hide he/she will do that for you. Hey good luck I have had some top finds but I have spent a lot of money traveling around the u.k to dig at sites worth digging. To find most good stuff u need to turn detective and think where things will be. Beaches are best after high tides and windy choppy seas it churns stuff to the top that may have been burried for hundreds/thousands of years. If I get good beach finds 8/10 its after a storm.

Maybe a ? after the title to form the question to naysayers. Great review and when you rotated around the quarter the system did what it is suppose to do by breaking through to get a decent TID. I hunt by sound and when I hear a solid signal I may glance to see if I have some affirmation on what I believe it to be. You are right, it was designed and built to be price point to get more features for someone maybe getting into detecting but otherwise could not afford some bells and whistles. But I personally believe Nokta messed up by producing a machine they could have easily doubled the price and people would have thought it a good deal still. I have had several different detectors in the past and even a Deus and this detector is certainly a diamond that may not be at Tiffany’s but certainly has features proudly worn. I would think these would surely not be able to remain on shelves but glad they do.
