I'm looking to paint an electric guitar and have a few questions. I like the grabber orange over charcoal metallic. Is this type of paint a good fit for an electric guitar? What type of primer works with the metallic basecoat? What type of clear works with this too? I'm looking for a high gloss finish.
Hi Mark, You also emailed us this inquiry, so this response is in supplement. Start with AutoBorne Sealer, www.autoborne.com. For W359 Metallic Charcoal, apply over 6002 Sealer Black, for W306 Wicked Pearl Orange, apply over 6001 Sealer White. For candy2o, mix with 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear, www.uvlsclears.com. A standard mix ratio is ~ 4050 Gloss Clear 6:1 candy2o color. Can 0351 Wicked Metallic Silver be used as a base under the candy colors? The local shops do not have the full range of products so the 4 base metallics are not available. Thank you
Wicked Metallic Silver can be applied over a base of AutoBorne Sealer Black or Grey, and used as a base for candy20. However, 6013 Silver Sealer is much better as it has a higher metallic count and is more reflective, which is why we use it as the standard base silver for candy20. However, any metallic can be used as a base for candy20, each producing a different value (color) of candy. Thank you.

Not sure Createx will respond to this as the video is over 6 months old. But yes, you can, and should, shoot 2K clear over this. You can spray 2K clear over all of Createx paints. I do it all the time.

May be a strange question, but would candy2O colors be fluorescent over an opaque white??? trying for a specific effect on a piece , I'm contemplating in particular poison green, sunset magenta and caribe blue and deep purple.
While technically a fluorescent color is dye, its much different compared with the metal complex dyes used to make candy2o. candy2o, applied over white, is not a fluorescent as light is not emitted after being absorbed by the complex dye, hence no luminescence, as would occur with a fluorescent dye. Iam brand new to all this an i think i ordered 4012 i got a few sets of paint i think i got a 6 or 8 pk of transparent a 6pk of autoborne an some $70set i dont remember but had illustration i believe. Will the 4012 work or do i need the 4011

Yes, candy2o can be applied direct to cured solvent-based base-coat paint after scuffing with 600 - 800 grit sandpaper then cleaning with a solvent-based degreaser before applying candy2o. Thank you.

I think the gold and blood red candy will look great for painting an Iron Man helmet I just made.

Can you mix these in PlasticDip topcoat (clear)? Which color line can you use with DYC Plastidip?
We’ve never tested candy20 with PlasticDip, but if it’s water-based, it will mix. Test first before any actual paint jobs. Thank you.
