Shoebass, shoe in a bass, bass in a shoe
👟
ever drank Bass Leads from a shoe? 🧜♂️
You’re just a fakey bass maker and I ain’t got time for yoo hoo!
Reminds me a lot of Peter Hook, the way he plays up high but uses open strings to create an out of this world sound.
Hell yeah, sounds awesome. Gazey riffs on bass and lower tuned guitars are in general something i find very underrated. Throws in a bit of doom in the mix. There's a song called High Spirits by Conjurer and Pijin that really nails that kind of atmosphere.
Brilliant, so good and glad to hear this.
Great work, man!
I felt that in my soul, great job 🥹

@@squigglymendernew subscriber earned today ahah, you’re great!!
Fantastic man
I've only seen two other bassists (excluding myself) that incorporate high chords with a drone string. Absolutely love the sound and people should do it more. Great playing and tone!
🫡
@@squigglymender where did you get the inspiration?
@@harveyradiusjust dialed up some high gain and started jamming
That's something I learned to do playing Blink. Mark Hoppus would use them occasionally, see Carousel.
pete hook made a living on it
kinda remind me of bcnr, not exactly a shoegaze or dream pop band tho
but that bassline remind me of their music
I love this.
That was great 👍
Amazing
actually shoegaze, not dream pop. love this.
What would you say is the difference?
@@_widas_shoegaze is a bit more distorted while dreampop is airy and ethereal
@@FungalHarmonyBoth are great, and there's a fair lot of overlap aesthetically. It's the best when they merge!
@@IAmValefree agreed! Although I myself am not the biggest fan of shoegaze because of how difficult the lyrics are to understand
@@FungalHarmonyit's not about the lyrics you're missing the point of shoegaze.
Brilliant
this is the first time I've wanted to say this but for all that is holy I do need hours of this to listen to
or I need the effects to play this for hours on end on my bass
10 hour nonstop version next vid
I respect it
And it respects you
I never knew that shoegaze was, turns out this is just what I play when I'm bored practicing my instrument
oh so edgie
Subbed. Ur awesome
Ur awesomer
Very interesting
I enjoy ensemble choruses on bass for shoegaze. Just make sure to make your sub mono
i need full track
The song hologram rose from the A-10 got the bass that way
I incorporate a droning bass string in my playing for Stoner rock lmao
I guess both genres have a little in common when it comes to producing walls of noise
That’s why I think those genres while different also share some nice qualities
sounds like a soundtrack for FLCL
this makes me think of the Jaguar 6 string bass
shawty highkey ate
🍽️
Sounds awesome! But I couldn't look at that left hand technique, doesn't it hurt? 😄
the intro is black midi 7 eleven vibes
Would love the tabs to this!
Amazing, this is a special tuning ?
Nope, just in standard tuning
Off topic, but used in a diferent more gloomy sound, the tone and effects are nice for a Type ø song.
this just sounds like Harvey Danger
Sounds like Solen - Leonore
Fingers : mine 😭😭
Mt Power Drumkit 🫶
Yo la tengo vibes
Holy shit, was that all you? Like the backing track and everything?
Yup all homemade
@@squigglymender well. You got any more? Like an album or something?
@@ltgreatsocks1no album lol but a lot more like this to come
@@squigglymender cool! I'll be subbing either way, cheers!
bass is lead 😲😲😲
Fingers: mine
Essential gear
When I tink shoegaze, I think Early Verve, Slowdive, MBV, a shit ton of reverb. Am I missing something here?
do you connect the line 6 stomp to the effect loop or direct to input? thanks.
In this video I’m using the stomp as my full rig. So I go into the compressor pedal, out of the stomp, and into my audio interface
@@squigglymender thanks, I though you were using the fender rumble 100 you wrote in the description box.
Ah I see; yea I’m not using it in this video. But when I do use the rumble, I will run my whole pedalboard through the effect loop on it
Now we need some math rock. A 1, a plus, a 2, a 3, times 3, 9.
変則的なようで8刻み
This is one of those videos where i can't tell if it's a joke and every last person in the comments is also joking
MT Power Drumkit 2
🤫
Tuning? Didn’t look like standard to me
Standard from beginning to end
))))
sounds more EMO/dreampopy to my then ShoeGZ
You a couple steps away from a Type O song.
It's called shoegaze because dudes who listen to it look down at their feet when they walk
No seriously that is why
that's not shoegaze
we're just calling anything Shoegaze now... huh?
Stop gatekeeping music
@@Acidplots LOL.. right, because genre defining is "gatekeeping". Let's just call this death metal at that point.. how does that tickle you?
@@ThriveSkateboards i don’t really care about genre just as long as it’s music. Genre is just a category so you should not have to stop someone from from making the music they like because of just a category.
@@Acidplots I'm curious.. where did you see me stopping anyone from making music?
@@ThriveSkateboards so many brainrot zoomers now just say anything with guitar = shoegaze. not to mention most everything they call shoegaze now sounds like mall emo with a reverb pedal.
shoegaze on bass = just copy Peter Hook
seems to be for people who can't really play.
Whats that pedal on the far right?
MXR M87 Bass Compressor
Boss NS-88
