Thanks soo much for the video. We transformed our oak cabinets to white and bottom gray following your steps and that 4 day plan helped us allot. Im sooo Happy with the my new cabinets. Thanks again. :)
I'm considering doing this to my kitchen to update it. However, I have some doubts about the painted cabinets ability to withstand wear. I noticed at 3:51 there is noticeable wear on the side of the cabinet, can you comment a little on that please
I painted by kitchen cabinets dark espresso two years ago and I'm ready to change the color again... Glad I'm not the only one who likes a change and a challenge. Thanks for sharing.
I have wanted to do my kitchen cabinets now for 2 years but scared to screw them up. You made it look so easy. I’m totally going to attempt this. What’s sad is I have built my decks , remolded bathrooms and my basement to the studs, but scared to paint my cabinets. I’m going to try this out. Thanks for the videos, erik
Ashley, that looks great! your first video was the one that inspired me to redo my cabinets, I just re did them about a month ago, also white. It was a bit tedious, but the results were awesome! like a new kitchen. definitely makes it look bigger. I'm anxious to hear about this backslash you did, I'm Looking for ideas to change mine without having to rip the old tile out. Thanks for the video!
By the way, your kitchen was beautiful BOTH ways. You did an amazing job both times... It's sad to see comments with a tinge of rudeness, when you are boldly going where so many of us have not. Really great job... both times :)
Ashley, hats off to you for all the hard work and patience. I loved the dark finish, and I love what you did with this new update as well!! Ignore the haters and the "critics". I personally love it and admire people like you who have the patience and dedication to tackle projects like this.
Thanks for the support. Yeah there's always going to be the haters, but I'm the one who has to live with it day in and day out and as long as I love it, it's all good! (:
Trends come and go, you just have to do want you like. I can appreciate the fact that you tried the dark cabinets and when that no longer worked you went for the white. It looks high end with all the other updates, especially the counter tops that someone mentioned were laminate and they are fabulous! Most people would not have done another project so soon but I say throw caution to the wind, lol. I also like to update often but try to keep a strict budget because otherwise I can't get my husband on board with my ideas, haha ;).
I painted my kitchen expresso after seeing your first video. It came out beautifully!!! And like you, now im ready for a white kitchen!! My kids are older and almost out the house and i swore that once they were out im going ALL white EVERYTHING!! Thanks for this share!! I really did love the ease of the kit the first time.
Glad you can relate to wanting to change it twice, some people think I'm crazy, but once you've done it once you know how easy it can be to get a whole new look! Hope it turns out great for you!
I loved when you transformed your kitchen to chocolate brown it gave it a whole new dark classy look and I love this light and airy look as well! and yet they are two totally different looks but with the same kitchen layout and appliances!. some things changed such as the counter tops, wall paint, floors and lighting and bar stools, ect. but I cant believe how much of a dramatic effect painting your kitchen cabinets can make!, it completely changes a room up!
Soooo much nicer! Oh my goodness. You’re kitchen is perfection now. That style of cabinet really is suitable for a white color...the dark...I wasn’t really feeling that. But after the white painted cabinets and new counters and floor...wow! It looks like you hired a designer. So nice.
We are about to start updating our kitchen with the Rust-Oleum Cabinet Transformation in white. I remember watching your original video and so glad to see an updated one! This video is so helpful! Your cabinets look great!
I'm thinking of going from espresso to gray.... I'm nervous but excited at the same time. I did espresso 4 years ago and want to brighten up my kitchen. I pray that I have enough (one kit) to complete the task. You did an excellent job!!
Looks sharp! You are a very hard worker and you should be very proud of your kitchen. I can appreciate the time and patience it takes to tackle this type of project, along with 2 young helpers😊. Your videos are great and are easy to follow. Kudos to hubby and mom for helping. I hope I have as much patience when I do mine. Thanks for the video.
Great job. Just bought a new house. Looking forward to having my son do this! I may help a little bit. Thanks for sharing. Now I have to see what else I can have my son do!
Thank you so much for adding this video. I really enjoyed seeing the transformation (but did very much like the darker cabinets and previous paint color as well). The new floors look awesome, too. Can't wait to hear more about that.
+AshleysGreenLife I saw the one when u painted it the dark color and I absolutely loved it!!!! What color was the dark color u used and was that the small kit or large??? I like the white too but I loved the dark cabinets!! Can u please tell me that exact color please I couldn't find it thanx
AshleysGreenLife the white looks good!! you should of left the island black and gave it an antique look by sanding down just enough for the original stain to show on some of the corners and random spots on it. black is one of the hardest colors to paint. u made it look easy props to you!🖒
I had some dripping going on mine too, but they didn't come off all the way even after sanding. Something to be more aware for next time! I wish you had a video about painting on the inside of the cabinets, I'm so on the fence to whether or not to paint on the inside. I love your new kitchen!
Ohh I typed as I was watching and I saw you showed it at the end. If you put contact paper on the shelves, did you still need to paint them? Couldn't you just stick the paper on and call it a day?
Yes I agree. Yeah sorry I didn't include that, it was the most time consuming because you have to move everything out! And I saw your other comment, I went ahead and painted the shelves in case I decided to later remove the contact paper, probably just made it take even longer though. lol
I've been thinking about painting my cabinets for a few years now! Your video sure makes it look easier than I thought it would be! Thanks for the inspiration!
This is house #3 for me!! Bought my 1st home at 23, 6mo after we married( we were just kids!!) Our 1st home had a 1950's retro metal cabinets ( I'm sure they were the thing back in the day but we bought this house in 1995!!!) We remove those cabinets and recycle them to the garage using them for storage) we replaced those with yellow oak from Hechingers Home Improvement store( I don't even think they exist anymore LOL) after 10 years of living in our first home we wanted to expand with our growing family a little Bungalow was not big enough our contractor advised us it would be cheaper to buy a home at that time because the market was a" buyer's "market... so we bought another home. That was a 1965 multi split house with a small kitchen and it ( not an eat-in kitchen!) it had a little dining room that flowed right off of the work area, we modified it & made it work and that is when I tackled the CABINETS!!! 2nd house had yellow oak that were absolutely DIRTY!! BUT I do have to say these were solid wood!! they were not the Pressboard or MDF, you know the low grade materials that a lot of Builders tend to use today. I scrubbed & scrubbed that night we moved in!!( other peoples dirt freaks me out) I refuse to even put a thing in my kitchen except for the coffee pot until everything was clean!!! Less then a year later I repainted them because we need storage. After going to the Home Improvement center and buying prefab cabinets to add to the storage space that I grew accustomed to with my newly renovated Kitchen at my first home( this kitchen had to work)18 down to a measly 14 cabinets( 7 ups& 7 base and NO PANTRY!), I have to say they turned out great. It was the very first time I tackled a job of that size. I did those in a semi gloss antique white.( the reason I did semi-gloss the first time around was because of the cleaning job that I had to do on those old wood cabinets it was absolutely disgusting and I wanted something that would be very easy to clean & wipeable)We lived in that home from 2005 to 2010(my husband passed in 2008😞) and now I am in sunny Florida(found happiness & married again) and on my 3rd home, (a brand new build) with DARK espresso color cabinets( I fell in love with that color during our walk through), but after 7 yrs, 4 children( his, mine & ours) & mom & dad & guests & pets, these cabinets SHOW EVERYTHING!!!!! (& they are not wood cabinets they are the low grade builders cabinets!!) SO I am going with white( makes room appear bigger & brighter)& because we live in Florida & after 7 years in this home, I got tired of the dark!!! Dark walls, dark floors & dark furniture. EVERYTHING just seemed dark dark dark and the flow of my kitchen and my family room just seemed like they were closing in.. I'm a stay-at-home mom so seeing this everyday tends to wear on a person. So we had our carpets replaced with hardwood floors about 3 years ago to a dark walnut and within that year we( really me, my hubby doesn't care) decided to have the painters come and paint the walls to a smokey sky blue, they have more of a gray hue to them and it really opened up the flow of the family rm & kitchen. I started to change my decor( Tuscany style)I had since house #2(2005), I chose to go more Coastal... with the woods and the grays, teals and pale blues... I actually love it...So now it is time to flip this kitchen & do my cabinets!!! 23 yrs later, still raising kids, pets, husbands & mom is still doing CABINETS!😉(#47YRSyoung)😵👍 I loved your video. Very informative to the newcomer who has never experienced painting cabinets before I learned from experience the first time I painted my cabinets I knew that prep work is key don't bother painting anything if you don't clean it before you paint it it's like waxing a dirty car don't do it I enjoyed your video and I am actually excited to tackle this job I think it's about time. Your cabinets look great!!!!!! p.s. I loved seeing your little girls helping you paint brings back some good memories my baby girls aren't babies anymore(20&16), but I'm still raising an 8 year old.😉❤
Beautiful transformation.love your kitchen .i got inspired from your last video and did my kitchen too but there is simply no way u can do it in 4 days even if u take help of your family members .The process is very time consuming .It took me 2 whole weeks to finish it .Thanks for sharing .
wait I just commented on you previous kitchen/ home transformation video. But to my surprise the next recommended video to match was yours. and you did it again great job.
I rented a house with a white kitchen & it was honestly so bright, welcoming, & IMO much easier to keep clean! Used that bleach spray kitchen cleaner a lot, had white tile floors that were bleached, just seemed so much easier than the brown wood. I am wondering about this for my kitchen. It's mid century. The previous owners (who were the kids to the original owner - I'm the 3rd owner since it was built in the 50's) decided to update the cabinets & backsplash with wood grain looking shelf paper. It's a great job (i honestly didn't know it was tacky paper until it started to peel. Lol. Guess I never thought of anyone doing anything like that. I don't know anything about this stuff) Obviously all that has to go. Since the cabinets are great solid wood, I've been torn on what to do. Sanding & refinishing always seems like the right answer, but maybe just this paint kit. BTW I watched both videos. The dark was very classy. I can't say I like one more than the other by comparison. Since you went with the dark flooring, I definitely agree with the choice to change to the white. Dark cave sounds right. Lol. When you were doing the bathroom cabinets dark in your other video, I thought why doesn't she do these white, or at least the kid's bathroom white? Wondering if you are planning that?
Thanks, Ashley! So far, they're turning out fantastic. Next step though is the protective top coat, which we'll do next weekend. I've heard about all of the problems with this. Did you have any issues, or do you have any tips for making it go on correctly?
Thank you for this video, I honestly have been scared to paint our dark cabinets white because I didn't think it would look that white!! lol This gives me hope and although its a lot of work, I am pretty excited to do a project like this for the first time with my husband :)
You make it look easy! Can I ask the advantage of the Rustoleum Kit vs. just painting with a couple coats of good quality gloss paint (which I have done) which didn't require a top coat and held up with basically no retouching? Thanks Ashley!
I like the first video from oak to black. I feel like it’s more modern. But this also looks nice too. You’re like me, constantly changing things around. (But my husband doesn’t like that I do that. ) lol keep mama happy.
Ashley, I have a question for you. First, I appreciate all that work you did--twice: I painted my oak cabinets espresso about five years ago and am considering going cream color, but my question for you is, did you consider leaving some pieces dark? I've noticed on many home improvement shows lately that they're doing dark and light combinations, e.g., the island and (some) other lower cabs go/stay dark with all uppers going lighter.
Oh yeah I've seen some of those looks, I just liked the same color look. But it would be fun to try just doing one and then seeing how it looks if you want to leave it half and half or go all the way into one color. ( :
I also did the dark cabinets 2 years ago and I’m thinking of trying white now but I was afraid it would look bad with more paint but looking at how good yours look make me feel a lot more confident about going white, thank you!
Wow, I got to see from Gold to black to white in a matter of 20 mins...looks great!
Thanks!
Ashley's Green Life.....With all that work you done, I might have to hire you to redo my cabinets.....lol
F Brewer g
What a difference by just changing the color it makes your kitchen look so much more bigger. Thanks for sharing.
I agree!
I’ve decided that there is nooooway I have the patience to do this.😱
You did a great job!👍🏻
Thanks!
Thanks soo much for the video. We transformed our oak cabinets to white and bottom gray following your steps and that 4 day plan helped us allot. Im sooo Happy with the my new cabinets. Thanks again. :)
Oh yeah! That's sounds pretty to do white and gray! Glad you found it helpful!
Oh yeah once you do it once you're like "I can totally do this again!" ( : Wishing you the best of luck on cabinet painting #2!
Wow you've done a lot...this will be so easy for you! Worst case...just paint them again (that's how I saw it-lol). You got this! ( :
Ashley, that looks great! your first video was the one that inspired me to redo my cabinets, I just re did them about a month ago, also white. It was a bit tedious, but the results were awesome! like a new kitchen. definitely makes it look bigger. I'm anxious to hear about this backslash you did, I'm Looking for ideas to change mine without having to rip the old tile out. Thanks for the video!
That's cool you redid your cabinets too! I was wondering if anyone else had tried that. Hope to have the backsplash video up in 2 weeks ( :
This is fantastic! It looks amazing. I have zero patience and doing it twice would send me to the looney bin. You saved thousands I bet.
By the way, your kitchen was beautiful BOTH ways. You did an amazing job both times... It's sad to see comments with a tinge of rudeness, when you are boldly going where so many of us have not. Really great job... both times :)
LOVE the new white kitchen, so modern and trendy...thanks for sharing!
Thank you!

Glad to hear it!

Glad you can relate to wanting to change it twice, some people think I'm crazy, but once you've done it once you know how easy it can be to get a whole new look! Hope it turns out great for you!
Did you do the top coat twice to prevent the chipping?
I loved when you transformed your kitchen to chocolate brown it gave it a whole new dark classy look and I love this light and airy look as well! and yet they are two totally different looks but with the same kitchen layout and appliances!. some things changed such as the counter tops, wall paint, floors and lighting and bar stools, ect. but I cant believe how much of a dramatic effect painting your kitchen cabinets can make!, it completely changes a room up!
I agree! Glad you liked both looks, I did too, but definently favor the white. Thanks for your comment!
Ashley's Green Life it looks like you got new appliances with this video as well. They look nice too.
Saw the video of you doing it in black. This looks much more open and bright. A cheerful and warm kitchen. Looks much, much better. Great job.
Very nice. Love the dark floor. Makes the white look so bright.
I thought so too!
Awesome. Just looked at the older video and white is definitely what I plan to do with my kitchen.
Awesome! ( :
Im so glad I saw this video. I want to paint my cabinets white as well because I have dark wood flooring as well. Im going to get this kit.
Hope it turns out well for you!

Thanks so much! I really love how it all came together the second time around ( :
I loved the dark cabinets but this looks magnificent 😍😍 I makes everything a lot brighter and open.
I agree thanks!
Thank you for sharing this video. It was very helpful and I can't wait to paint my cabinets back to white.
We are about to start updating our kitchen with the Rust-Oleum Cabinet Transformation in white. I remember watching your original video and so glad to see an updated one! This video is so helpful! Your cabinets look great!

I would kill for a kitchen like yours! It's stunning! I can't wait until I'm done with rentals and can DIY my own house.
aww thanks! Hope you can try it out someday!
I’m so happy you did this video. I want a white kitchen too and this should be a helpful start for me. Thanks for sharing
Glad to hear it! ( :

Wow!!! What a beautiful transformation!!! Great job!
Thanks!
I think I watched your other one where you transformed it from original to dark! So fun you've done it twice!
Yeah it was fun to do it again, I had way more confidence this time around! ( :
Well done to your beautiful daughter for helping.
Thanks! They loved getting in on the painting fun.
I like the dark cabinets but LOVE the white. Definitely like the white cabinets more. It seems to really open up your kitchen.
Me too!
love the dark floor and white cabinets! it makes it look so open
I agree!
WOW WOW WOW!!! I absolutely love your kitchen! Its beautiful.
Aww thanks! ( :
Thank you so much for adding this video. I really enjoyed seeing the transformation (but did very much like the darker cabinets and previous paint color as well). The new floors look awesome, too. Can't wait to hear more about that.
You bet! ( : Will be posting about the floors next Saturday. ( :
Everything looks beautiful. AWESOME JOB!!! xoxo
Wow, they came out great! We are going to paint our cabinets in the near future and can't wait!
Awesome! Hope they turn out great too!
what an amazing transformation! looks so energizing and clean! (:
I agree, energizing and clean is a great way to describe it!
+AshleysGreenLife I saw the one when u painted it the dark color and I absolutely loved it!!!! What color was the dark color u used and was that the small kit or large??? I like the white too but I loved the dark cabinets!! Can u please tell me that exact color please I couldn't find it thanx
AshleysGreenLife the white looks good!! you should of left the island black and gave it an antique look by sanding down just enough for the original stain to show on some of the corners and random spots on it. black is one of the hardest colors to paint. u made it look easy props to you!🖒
She used laminate on the counters. They are marbleized which looks great or better than the black ever would.
Modern kitchens and cabinates
you guys are so calm when working. it looks so meditative. :) amazing how you have the motivation to do this all over :)
aww thanks! I find it meditative to do as well so glad it comes across that way!
Just stumbled upon this video! Love the white updated kitchen!
Thanks! ( :
Absolutely beautiful!!!!!! this is one of my dream kitchens!!!!
Aww thanks!

I've been thinking about painting my cabinets for a few years now! Your video sure makes it look easier than I thought it would be! Thanks for the inspiration!
Glad you found it helpful!
Love the white!
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the detailed day by day outline. I'm a special education teacher as well and I live for organization and lists!! lol
The white cabinets look beautiful. Thanks for this very informative and step by step video! Very well done. Your final kitchen looks amazing.
Thank you for sharing. I will be doing my kitchen white this week.
Yeah! Hope you like how it turns out. ( :
looks super nice! great work!
I'm in the process of painting my kitchen white also. It's exhausting but if you can do it I can do it :). Hope my result is as good as yours.
Hope it turned out good! ( :
Beautiful end result! Love your new appliances as well!!
Thanks ( : I agree so much more modern!
This is house #3 for me!! Bought my 1st home at 23, 6mo after we married( we were just kids!!)

Your Kitchen Is Beautiful
Thank you!
Amazing transformation! I love the white too - and the dark floors are great. I'm excited for you to have this "new" kitchen.
Aww thanks! Me too!

wait I just commented on you previous kitchen/ home transformation video. But to my surprise the next recommended video to match was yours. and you did it again great job.
Glad to hear you were able to see both videos! I had fun doing this project a second time!
This is beautiful! I need to redo my bathroom cabinets and had no idea where to start. Now I feel so inspired! Thank you!!
Glad you found it helpful! I did my bathroom cabinets in the previous video when I painted them dark, that might help to see how they turned out. ( :
wow it just popped with a different flooring . beautiful!
I agree!
Wow!!!!! Speechless , that's amazing 👍

Thanks for this video. I'm doing my cabinets this weekend in federal grey. Lots of work but worth it.
Oh cool! I considered grey, but had already painted my walls grey...hope it turns out great!
Thanks, Ashley! So far, they're turning out fantastic. Next step though is the protective top coat, which we'll do next weekend. I've heard about all of the problems with this. Did you have any issues, or do you have any tips for making it go on correctly?
I love the white. I will do the same with my brand new home!! Thanks!!!
Glad you like it! Hope it turns out well!
While it's so labor intensive, it's better than paying hundreds or thousands more! Great job! I can't wait to do this with my new condo!!!
So true!
Looks great. I always just went out and bought a couple gallons of paint. Didn't know about the kits.

End result looks great!
Thank you!
it looks terrific! Our kitchen really needs an upgrade --I think we can afford it now! :D Can't wait to see your backsplash video.
Thank you for this video, I honestly have been scared to paint our dark cabinets white because I didn't think it would look that white!! lol This gives me hope and although its a lot of work, I am pretty excited to do a project like this for the first time with my husband :)
Hope you can give it a try!
You did such an awesome job! Your kitchen is lovely.
Thanks!
the final project looks great ! love the flooring
Thanks!
omg I didn't know there was a product like this now I KNOW what I'm doing when we move in our new home

You make it look easy! Can I ask the advantage of the Rustoleum Kit vs. just painting with a couple coats of good quality gloss paint (which I have done) which didn't require a top coat and held up with basically no retouching? Thanks Ashley!
Yasss Girl! I want to go white in my kitchen. You've given me some real unction!
Go girl! You can do it!
Thank you for this video. You've inspired me to paint my brown wood kitchen cupboards and island white. :)
Hope it turns out well!
Ashley, that is beautiful! Great job!
Thanks so much! (:
I like the first video from oak to black. I feel like it’s more modern. But this also looks nice too. You’re like me, constantly changing things around. (But my husband doesn’t like that I do that. ) lol keep mama happy.
Yep- you too!
You are amazing to take on this project!! Looks great!
Thanks! I had a vision of what I wanted it to look like and that kept me going through all the hard work. ( :
Thank you for the video. I feel confident enough to try it myself now. I may post pictures if all goes well. Wish me luck!
Glad to hear it! Hope it goes well!
Wow, I like the white cabinets too.
Glad to hear it!
You did an amazing job, I'm inspired! Thank you for sharing

You’re my hero. Sooooo beautiful!!!
I also did the dark cabinets 2 years ago and I’m thinking of trying white now but I was afraid it would look bad with more paint but looking at how good yours look make me feel a lot more confident about going white, thank you!
Thanks!
I'm super happy with the white!
I'm going to paint my cabinets next week. Your kitchen looks great! I'm curious about the smart tiles. Was it easy to do? How do you like them?
