Hey Friends! I can’t believe it’s been a year since I painted my kitchen cabinets!! If you are watching this video because you’re considering painting yours, I highly recommend watching my first video, where I take you through the process step by step and share my best tips for getting the most out of this kit! 😊 Click here to watch! th-cam.com/video/XgJHDEovTNs/w-d-xo.html Thank you for watching and have a great weekend!! 💗Jenny
I haven't considered painting mine because I like the natural oak. I saw a rustoleum ad on Facebook then searched here and found you. Thanks for the upload!
My lovely husband sent me your video since we have been talking about painting..we difinitely are do it yourself.kind of people. We have similar cabinets and kitchen size. I finished watching your video and played the 1 year latet one. I was impressed by your work and honesty. Also, I thanked my husband for his thoughtfulness since he knows that I have been wishing for a white kitchen. Keep producing these videos.
It’s been a year since I painted my cabinets white as well. I ended up painting 8 coats over my cherry mahogany colored cabinets. I learned a lot from this process.. I thought that adding an extra coat of sealant as the last step to “high traffic” cabinets like the silverware drawer and the cabinet that has the small sliding trash can in it would protect them. Not so. It adds a yellowish tinge to the paint and I can see it in the places where it’s thicker. I’m now looking at just sanding all of it down and just repainting it in the fresh white that I like. It was worth a shot though.
I can't believe it has been a year already, I remember that video, I know it was worth it, glad it has held up well. And it does make your kitchen look, so much brighter.😊
Hi Jenny, I am Lindy from Canada. It is funny because I just left a comment on the video you did last year when you transformed these cabinets and then I realized you also had a link as to how everything was holding up. It was a win win for me. I am so happy you did this because all of us will face the wear and tear of every day living on our cabinets. This video was extremely helpful and makes me realize that the hard work of doing this project, will certainly be worth it. Than you so much again for all your effort!! 🤗
Hey Jenny....i'm off today so YAY i get to watch early. I have watched your video where you painted your cabinets and WOW it is impressive. Can't wait to see an update.
Hi Jenny, I just discovered your channel today and would like to thank you so much for this video. I have watched countless videos on painting kitchen cabinets and have decided on using your suggestion. I’ve recently retired and now would like to update my kitchen with this process. 🙏🏾 thanks again!
I used this kit in 2021 during the pandemic when working from home. It does take commitment , but once you get into a groove, you can do it. I am now looking to do small touch-ups, too. Thanks for sharing your experience.
This must have been quite the process! It looks amazing still though Jenny! I love white cabinets in the kitchen! If we're lucky enough to have a next home I would LOVE white cabinets!
I’m so glad you did this follow up. I’ve been wanting to paint so much but honestly, I’m just not too committed to the time. I’m getting quotes now to have them professionally done. That might change my mind, huh? 😂 You did an amazing job. I love how they turned out!
Just watched the video where you painted the cabinets and then watched this one right after...I've been wanting to paint my cabinets for so long but I'm scared I'll mess them up...I finally did take the step in painting my dining room chairs white this week and they turned out decent. Maybe since watching these videos I'll hopefully one day not be scared to paint my cabinets
Your kitchen looks so beautiful! I'm the total opposite in colour because my kitchen is black :D But I really like how your cabinets turned out and I kinda like that you take the time to do these retouches and so precise. Not a lot of people take the time for stuff like that but it really makes a difference and shows how much you care for and love your house.
One year on and they are beautiful! Thanks for taking the time to film the update. I’ve been watching Rustoeum cabinet transformations for years and hope to get started soon on the bathroom and kitchen. I’m curious to know, with 5 coats on your cabinets, was one kit sufficient? I’ve got a ton of cupboard doors!
Hey Heidi! I remember your comment from the first video too! ☺️ Yes, I used 2 kits and had some leftover for touchups! You could probably do 4 good coats and it would be perfect... I think mine were way too thin, lol. I hope you’re having a good day! 💗
I am 67 years old and use a walker to help me walk every day. I am the one who cleans the house. There are days I don’t want to do any cleaning but my friend whose house I live in, works 12 to 13 hours, five days a week. I am home 24/7. Cleaning is like my physical therapy for free at home.
I’m Kelly from Pawnee, OK! I have been watching a lot of your videos lately and they are great! I am also dealing with depression and anxiety on a regular basis, so knowing I’m not alone is so nice! I’m still trying to get the motivation I need to consistently have a personal routine as well as a cleaning routine! I have an eight yr old and a two yr old, so it’s crazy around here! 😆
When you did this a year ago, I thought of doing my kitchen. But I didn’t get around to it until now. But I went the sanding/primer/enamel paint route. It is taking me so long-I have 7 cabinets and 4 drawers and I just finished my first door and I started a month ago! But I decided to paint the interior because it was original 1970s cabinets 😂
Hey Jenny! I cannot believe that video was a year ago 😳...just goes to show how fast time goes! I was watching your videos before that one so I can't believe it has been that long. I'm honestly just watching to show support lol. Maybe one day when I buy a home I can come back to videos like these. 💕 Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks Stephanie!! I cannot believe it’s been a year too!! Thank you for all of your support for over a year now! 😭 I hope you had a happy Mother’s Day!! ❤️❤️
@@CleaningTherapy You're so very welcome 😊, I'm so glad I found your channel. Thank you, I had a pretty good day 💕. I hope it was good for you as well ☺️.
Looks incredible. The white is my preference too, but the raised panels and molding details really set your kitchen off. We have standard builder grade natural finish cabinets, so no character. Love if ours looked like yours!
Great job on the cabinets! Thanks for posting these videos too. We just got our first home and the cabinets need some love so we are planning to use the same kit to refinish them.
Jenny, you’ve convinced me! This Rustoleum Cabinet Transformation is what I’m going to use on my old, tired-looking apartment-grade cabinets (1982 originals). The last they were painted was in 2003 when I bought this condo. I’ve watched so many videos on painting cabinets, etc. just to figure out what would be the best way and more cost-effective. I am disabled and I have a very small kitchen, so I’m going to have to take my time to do the painting in sections (top first, then bottom like you did). Going to Home Depot next week to buy my supplies. I’ve watched both of your videos on painting cabinets, and they were so pleasant & encouraging. Thanks and God bless!
Hi! I’m new here but I’m so glad that I stumbled across your channel. How many kits did you end up having to buy to cover all your kitchen cabinets with 5 coats of paint?
It seems that Rustoleum changed their formula? I first did my kitchen cabinets 10 years ago. I used the color Rustic with the glaze (I feel the glaze creates durability). No chips at all. There’s only two places that have shown worn off paint/stain and that’s by the handles of our most used cabinet (glasses) and a silverware drawer. Otherwise, everything looks as good as the day I finished. I’ve also done our master bathroom twice (Rustic, then changed to very dark color three years ago), and a half bath and another full bath. I’m now wanting my kitchen cabinets to be lighter. So I’m very curious as to the difference in product change. Thank you. By the way, your kitchen looks so fresh and pretty.
Hello…thank you for the in-depth videos, I am starting this transformation in our RV tomorrow and I appreciate your videos, my question is in the first video you said you bought two transformation kits, how much did you end up using after you did the first 5 coats? Thank you 😊
You did an excellent job!!! Bravo. Would you know if I can do the same with my golden oak cabinets, they really drive me nuts!! Went for a professional estimate and almost dropped dead when I heard the total cost! Definitely not for my pocket!!! Would appreciate your response. And thank you! Jenna.
I painted mine about 3 years ago. There are some spots that chipped or got scratched. Basically I had to take 1 hour and touch up some of the spots with fresh paint.
Quick question. I know it says you don't need a primer but my cabinets are a dark brown and I'm just tryingvto save time and materials. Being a base bonding coat . I'm wondering it it would not adhere to a primer . Thank for any advice and great video.
I also used this kit several years ago and am about to use it again with a DIFFERENT color. So do I sand again or de gloss or can I just clean them and paint?
I'm looking to you and your videos to get re-motivated! I started on our cabinets 2 weeks ago. The cabinet boxes went great, but I've been painting all the doors in the garage. Between the poor lighting and outrageously high humidity (we live in Alabama), it's just not going well :-( I've now moved to doing three doors a day in the kitchen nook. Starting to think I'm not going to be happy with the end result after all this work and just want to give up, but can't afford new cabinet doors (or bear to hear hubby say, "I told you so").
Hi Jenny, did you paint your cabinet interiors? And, approximately how long would you estimate your original painting of cabinets took? Thank you! Helen in Boston
How did u figure out the number of kits u required for your space? The tone you used over original color (dark vs light) makes a difference in how many coats you ended up using? I looked up product and they have different tones them get tinted to color want. I don't recall you discussing this in original video

What do you have on that cloth to clean the cabinets? I’m about to paint using this kit.
How many kits did it take when you originally painted it?
Do you think it would’ve helped to have 2 layers of the protective top coat?
What did you use to clean your cupboards with in this video? I didn't see you using any water or anything.
Great to see this video. Love the transformation. Did you mention anywhere if you had any regrets about not sanding first?
No, I don’t have regrets! The kit came with a deglosser, and I think it worked pretty well! ☺️
hi! I just subscribed, your video from a year ago popped up on I my feed. I'm in SE La I recognized your accent :)
That is too cool!! Hey neighbor! 👋🏼☺️
Can you use this on metal cabinets?
I placed the final
Coat on but now I see a fee imperfections. How do Info back and redo?
I have melamine overlay on cabinets (1989 build) and I noticed that rustoleum has listed can use on them. Has anyone else used it for melamine?
How many kits did you use???
2!
How much Square foot of cabinets can one kit approximately cover?
I’m actually not sure! I know it took 2 kits to do my kitchen though! ☺️

I can’t believe it’s been a year! Xo
