    John great video. Extra tips, if you are using the c1 travel portal you should book with cash and use the points/miles to erase the travel purchace. You will still get 10x on hotels or 5x airfare on the purchase, it will make the points worth 1.1c or 1.05c when you erase the purchase. The VX 300 dollar travel will earn miles for travel purchases in the c1 travel portal, example purchasing 300 dollars in hotel stays will get you 3k miles or 1.5k for flights.
    I tend not to use the over priced one-way ticket price, in most cases round trip is required. Flying Turkish air round trip from Boston to Manilla is around 5700 dollars((5700/2)-400 fee-142 dollars in lost rewards= a good realistic ~3.4c per points).

    Ok I think there’s one thing that needs to be addressed for cpp from transfer partners. Since you’re looking at least a year out, the flight prices in dollars are super inflated… like by 50-200%. So if you were to actually wait until a good booking time (which capital one does in their travel portal), it will look less like the crazy 5-10 cpp that is often quoted for these deals. That being said, it’s still 2-4 cpp typically, so definitely still the best way to redeem, but not exactly always the home run like people say

    I would also talk about the opportunity cost of spending so many miles on business class fares. If you blow 70,000 miles on one single flight, you should be also calculating. What is the opportunity cost of that? How many economy flights could I have redeemed for that, same number of miles? Let’s say the answer is you can book a single economy flight for 20,000 miles. That means in my head when you blow 70,000 miles that has an actual cost of around $700 of lost opportunity.

      The only way I would fly business/lay flat is for straight flight over 10+ hrs (to Asia/middle east). I’d rather 10+ free economy flights of less than 10 hrs.

    I’m wanting to use the Capitol one duo venture x/savorone as my first travel card setup, but not sure which to apply for first. Is one better to get first, or are there decent odds I could be approved for both at the same time?

    • @93aMike
      @93aMike 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Capital One will only approve you for one of their cards every 6 months. Personally, I would get the SavorOne first and get the VentureX second. You will be able to use the SavorOne in most of your everyday purchases like dining, groceries, streaming services, etc and get 3% back vs VentureX 2x on everything

    I know you talk about transferring cashback from the Savor One card to Venture X miles, but can it go the other way? What is the exchange rate? That could help to get the 1 cent-per-point for cash if miles transfer 1:1 to cashback on a non-travel card.

      ANA is an amazing option. But requires work and persistence. Due to how cheaply you cAn book with them and how good the cabins are, you almost have to book a year out to avoid being wait listed. But you can get a round trip business class ticket for about the same point cost as going to Europe one way with air France. You will have to transfer through Virgin Red though.
