    Clavichord makes a good companion for the traverso flute. It is a quiet instrument. I think clavichord is a good choice for accompaining alto recorder as well. The same thing goes for lute and therbo as continuo instruments.

    The traverso and clavichord complement each other so well!

    THE KEYBOARD INSTRUMENT IS NOT A HARPSICHORD AS IT IS A CLAVICORD AND WORKS IN A DIFFERENT WAY. BUT THIS IS THE ONLY AND BEST CLAVICORD WHICH I HAVE EVER HEARD. I USUALLY LOATH THIS INSTRUMENT ALTHOUGH CPE BACH IS CLAIMED TO HAVE LIKED TO PLAY IT VERY WELL.

    Sublime partition de flûte traversière. Ce n'est pas un clavecin qui l'accompagne, mais une épinette (ou virginal).

    Its funny. There is debate whether the flute sonata in G minor is by JS Bach or CPE Bach. I noticed the clavichord players music book says CPE. The traverso players music book says J.S.
    Oh brother! 🤦‍♀️
    I guess we will never know.

    • @ThomasMulliganFlute
      @ThomasMulliganFlute 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think nowadays it's generally attributed to CPE

    • @reneblom2160
      @reneblom2160 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@ThomasMulliganFlute I agree to that. Beautiful as it is, this music is nevertheless far too 'rococo' and transparent in style to bear much resemblance with similar works for flute and harpsichord by Johann Sebastian Bach.

    • @hori166
      @hori166 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@reneblom2160 I agree. The writing is not reflective of JS's complicated counterpoint. The left hand is too simple, most of the "action" is in the right hand. The harmonies, while pleasant, are characteristic of Bach's early attempts to incorporate the Italian influence, specifically Vivaldi. It sounds like CPE was trying to do the same, and perhaps this piece was sent to JS for his opinion and wound up getting grouped with the other compositions.

    • @andreamundt
      @andreamundt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It´s no harpsichord but a clavichord which does not pluck but hit the strings : )

      @@andreamundt Thanks... I definitely prefer harpsichord.. it has a more powerful deeper robust sound. This sounds kind of like a bouncing fly.

    What kind of flute is that? Is it in C?

    • @TonyBittner-Collins
      @TonyBittner-Collins 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's a baroque flute in D.

    • @toddsterben6647
      @toddsterben6647 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a flute where the lowest note is d. Some flutes from that period or a little later have an extended flute going down to c. See www.oldflutes.com/baroq.htm. The pitch of the flute is almost certainly not based on 440, most instruments then were not as pitch was not standardized. The fingering on these flutes is kind of similar to modern flutes, but not identical

    • @todoflautaafe3882
      @todoflautaafe3882 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that it´s a baroque flute copy of a Denner model

    • @gatozarin
      @gatozarin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TonyBittner-Collins it´s in C because it is a non-transposing instrument but its lowest note is a D, just like a modern piccolo... so yeah it is also still in C, because you play C and it sounds a C, not a D

    • @TonyBittner-Collins
      @TonyBittner-Collins 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@gatozarin The traverso natural scale (finger by finger) is D Major (F# and C#). I've got a 19th century flute with 8 keys and a C foot and still gives you D Major as its natural scale rather than C Major.
