I like that Nathaniel doesn't take the repeats as do so many other interpreters. Makes it feel more like a compact, to-the-point set of variations and takes a more thrilling ride through Sebastian's imagination.
Beautiful playing and expertly recorded. Wonderful to travel back in time and hear the archetypal "sleep mix" on an authentic instrument. I salute you Sir.
Finally I found it! Everyone plays the first aria too slowly, and because of this the structure of the piece falls apart, and the polyphonic parts don't sound together because of too long delays. This is the way to play, I like it. I think this whole recording comes closest to what Bach wanted to express. You got his point, and that's great. Congrat
When not racing, at least. Mander has that cantabile touch that brings Bach's works alive. That's a real gift. Re tempo: I will leave that to Wim Winters at Authentic Sound.
I won't have to wait for Apple Music because I bought it from ICSM Records and they shipped it to the US for only 5 quid for shipping! If you're in North America and want to buy his cd and have it mailed to you, it's doable!
Honestly I still prefer piano, but this is a good interpretation. I can hear all the counterpoint and the different voices, which I think is the main thing. Of course I miss the little shadings of color and dynamics that a piano provides.
I must have heard them dozens of times and this is one of the best thank you
So glad you've enjoyed it!
Techinique and sensitivity together. Perfect! ❤
Beautifully played Nathaniel. I'm a concert pianist and harpsichordist. Love the Goldberg esp the 13th Arabesque variation. And so handsome.
I'm delighted that you appreciated it so much. How you flatter me!
yes well his barber deserves credit too

Excellent
Elegant yet commanding performance
Love this harpsichord too
Any info on it ?
Flemish ?
So glad you enjoyed! It’s a copy of a late french 18th century instrument. Goujon 1748 made by Andrew Garlick
Outstanding performance! When will we find it on Apple Music? :D
I won't have to wait for Apple Music because I bought it from ICSM Records and they shipped it to the US for only 5 quid for shipping! If you're in North America and want to buy his cd and have it mailed to you, it's doable!
how can this only be 40 minutes? many other interpretations run to about double, but this doesn't sound rushed/fast at all.
I didn't play the repeats on this occasion!
Very good! Can you do a timeskip please, Thank you :)
Does anyone know how to do this?! I’m from the 18th century!
took care of 10 at 9:40
when I behold treasures like this, my hate towards humanity slightly decreases...
is the way to play this totally different with piano?
Yes it really is! The way the mechanism works means that the touch and approach to making music is completely different
Amazing so very sharp, but so was the suit you must give me the name of your Tailor.
and barber
Nice suit in more than one way.
Timeframe of every song?
Lovely. Earned a sub.
So glad!

How is the feel of the key pressure vs a real piano? Always wanted to ask as on the Piano you have the touch control on the larger strings.
It's a lighter touch but you're in contact more with the string as you're actually plucking them. It's a lovely feeling once you get the hang of it.
@@NathanielMander Thanks for the reply, very good information, thank you.

Apparently neither Bach nor his pupil Goldberg missed them!
damn nobody indexed it like the other guys
i needed to hear variation X immediately
I guess I ain’t busy next 40 min
can’t just stop once started!
WHAAAAT???
lol 5:40 my brother what dimension
7:40 my man!
they always did say Bach loved improv
Sorry brother, I’m a “heavy drinker”, I’ll give it a rest.
A whole one.
Variation ( X = 9:40 )
and it’s a nice one... ... !
Delighted!
He looks like Jordan Waller.
nr 5 - 5:19
10 = 9:40
