Hey Jeremiah! Great video and thank you for bringing the Saddles in Service organization some public support. Enjoyed hearing the points made by the people who really do ranch work and what qualities make a good boot.

Heritage Ropers are great, and they offer them in narrow width which is nice and less common these days. Because they have a removable foam insole, they can be fitted with orthotics for an almost custom boot feel. The distressed leather is easy to maintain and looks at home doing hard work or for going into town as long as the destination isn't too fancy. A very versatile boot that is comfortable out of the box requiring minimal break-in.

Do you know if the Ariat heritage roper is resoleable?

I personally love rough out boots for ranch work. I wear rough out boots week in and week out in the saddle . Super durable and comfortable. Love Ariat boots for ranch work

I personally support Saddles in Service (I'm a proud USAF Veteran) - great organization!
I own a horse farm - and I am in the saddle daily. I thought I'd weigh in for folks that might want some suggestions for boots/leathers to wear horseback riding or working around horses. These are what work for me.
I wear leather outsoles exclusively as I find them much more comfortable. I put Huberd's Shoe grease on the soles and it helps with water/mud repellency and the life of the soles between repairs. I use their oils on the leathers of my oiled boots. I absolutely LOVE the shoe grease and shoe oil!!!
I'm old, so comfort is a big deal for me...the skin/leathers I like best are (in no order):
Full Grain Cowhide - oiled leather: I think for the money the Apache Oiled leather boot - from Heritage Boot Company is an absolutely terrific boot for in the saddle and doing chores. They can be cleaned and wiped down with Huberd's Shoe oil and they look terrific.
Roughout: I'd give the nod to Chisos for their Roughout boot - very well made and it holds up to hard work , and as you mentioned, brush it off and it looks great.
Elephant and FQ ostrich (smooth ostrich probably as good I just have never owned any):
I hate the look of ostrich - looks like a boot with chicken pox. However the comfort of the leather is undeniable and for me I'll take the ugly for the comfort. The oils in ostrich make the boot a natural around horse urine and muck in general. The leather is phenomenally rugged.
Elephant is probably my favorite leather to wear daily...it is as comfortable as ostrich and breathes great. It is tough as nails...I actually wear elephant when I'm going to be doing stuff around rough rocks or briars, etc.
My picks for elephant or ostrich would be Black Jack...the wait is now forever, but you can find them is select retailers around the country.
I appreciate your channel and your partnership with this organization is to be applauded.

I actually have Ariat Boots and I don’t get the hype. They’re no wear near as comfortable as my Cody James. Glad to see you giving back!

I recently bought my first Ariat boots. Avoided them because they hurt my feet no mater what style I bought, then a salesman told me to go a half size larger and they actually work. Not perfect, but pretty damn good. Starting to really like those Ariat Legends. First pair of China made boots. Not my favorite, but kind of impressed.

I too want a pair of those rough outs. I wear a 10D in Ariat Circuit Patriots (not a wide square toe, but a square toe). Would I be better off getting a 10.5D in the futurity rough out?

I love my hybrid ranchers for everyday tasks. I made the mistake of grabbing the Bick 4 instead of the distressed leather conditioner once though. I've been trying to bring back that distressed look ever since.

Went with a Dan Post Storm series work book... Not impressed and my feet hurt after a long day. It's good for mechanic'ing on the ranch. I seem to eat up insoles monthly on them though. I have a slew of Ariat's though and they never let me down. I just usually wear them. Good rubber sole and I'm good to go. The cheaper Chinese Ariat's might not feel quite as cushy as the more expensive ones, but at the end of the day your feet still don't hurt and they last. It's good to see that regardless of country of origin, Ariat still provides the customer with a quality built boot.

Until Ariat starts making all of their boots in either the USA or Mexico they’re a hard pass from me. Plenty of far better options fitting that criteria.

Anyone have opinions, one way or another, on Tecovas boots? They look pretty slick and are (apparently) well made for the money. I’m talking for actual riding, not wearing out in town…

Great video! I learned a lot. I work in retail on a concrete floor all day, where my boot of choice for comfort in walking 10-15 miles daily on that concrete, is the Ariat Sport Cool Ventek.

I don’t live or work on a ranch but I do know wearing leather soled boots on snow and ice can be dangerous. Rubber soled boots are not traditional but a lot safer.

I have had a few pairs of ariats and put thousands of miles on them. The are a decent priced boot, look very sharp and last a long time. The only bad thing about them is they start off comfortable but after a few months, they are murderous.

Can't really take this video seriously. It's titled what boots to wear on a ranch and then starts off telling you it's sponsored by Ariat. So gee I wonder batman...which boot do you think is going....this is just sad. Money grab is obvious. Integrity drain is too :( I'll have to look at all of your suggestions and reviews completely differently now. Sad day in boot world for sure.

Right the western clothing industry is trying to make all cowboy boots and clothing for men and women who don't like traditional cowboy boots and clothes but not keeping the real stuff for the rest of us. It is sad. And hick hop is a joke as well. In my day no self respecting cowboy would listen to rap.The industry wants to completely change the identity of the cowboy.

Hey buddy! No need to apologize. This video is about the qualities of a boot that makes it good for the ranch and those watching can take those qualities and apply it to a different brand if Ariat doesn't work for them. Cheers!
