      The difference between five miles and forty-five miles is that you find a way to keep going, but whatever you get is good enough as long as you’re still tired the next day.

      @Giada_De_Low_Rent_Tits Its all a progression.. I remember starting off I was happy to get in a couple miles, 1000ft of gain at 10,000ft elevation.
      Last weekend I had a 16+ miles, 6,000 vert to just under 14,000. Just a matter of setting goals and pushing. Keep on a climbing :)

    Dude congrats on *finally* making it! Been following along with a lot of your videos...top production quality for these epic outdoor mountain adventures 👍. I like how you guys put on crampons and then immediately it cuts to scenes of you guys climbing up dry rocks near the summit 🤣! Anyway, big fan here. If you are ever out in CO (again) and want to collab on something (granted I'm not a very good technical climber or skier...but I can run!) let me know!

And also can be done in a long day. The approach through the Hoh Rainforest is really pretty too

    The Helmet-Topic is a big topic here in the german alps. As example at "Watzmann" Mountain. When I do mountainrunning there, I have to pack it because there are hundreds of people in one day. At the descent they have tired feet and right next to you, you have falling rocks. Its crazy because this mountain is remote and beautiful but popular like a rockstar. Greetings from Germany ;)

    That was a hoot of a run/hike including a some rope action for good measure - plus the fact that you nabbed some live action in terms of the critical sections and summit. I took in Gannett solo August 15, 2019 via Glacier Trail 801 + snow-bridge + gooseneck pinnacle + ridge line, then camped out at the NOLS high camp. Best part -- nobody else was up there, either from Bonnie Pass or the Lakes. It is a seriously swell hike and you can clearly see the Winds and Gannett from the Wyoming Range 100 course that starts 25 miles west of Marbleton and ends in Hoback. Now I need to check if y'all went up Granite in Montana - another kick of a climb, in particular if you head up via Sky Top Lakes and the SW Ramp. Cheers.

      @JaySilver72 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ David Johnson: Trying to make a decision between those two routes for next year for myself and the GF. Curious why you say Wells is scary if the sketchy climb didn't have to be done? Thank you.

    • @davidjohnson7484
      @davidjohnson7484 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JaySilver72 Fair question. Let me start by saying that I've climbed the Tourist Creek route up and back twice on two failed summit attempts. On the successful summit, we went up Wells Creek, but came down Tourist Creek because we felt it was the safer option. I just wanted to give you a better idea of my level of familiarity. Wells Creek is simply a more dangerous route. You're rock hopping up a very steep incline on giant boulders. Any slip or fall had a much higher potential for injury. One thing that concerned me the most was that there was a very, very slippery moss on the rocks that extended an inch or two above the water line of the creek and it wasn't very visible. In a few places you are compelled to jump across the creek. It was scary! There were several times I felt like I was taking a bigger risk than was prudent. I should add though that we were carrying full backpacks and not just daypacks. I honestly wouldn't recommend Wells Creek over Tourist Creek to anyone for any reason. Yeah, it's a more direct route and you don't have to lose some elevation like you do when you cross over from the Tourist Creek drainage. But in my opinion the added risk in Wells Creek isn't worth it.

    It's always a great day when there is a new Mediocre Amateurs! Glad that you summited Danny! It looks amazing, and I hope to one day make it there. Keep up the great work!

    Congrats on your summit! I have been both up and down Tourist Creek and down Wells Creek from Mammoth Glacier. I would say Tourist Creek is the more difficult of the two due to the size of the boulders in the first section above Three Forks Park.

      @Bill Strachan: Debating which route to take next year. Would you say the same if you had to go UP Wells creek? I'm a climber and mountaineer but trying to choose the easiest route for the GF (and because I'm lazy).

    You guys are mental. I can't imagine hiking 45 km a day on a normal trail, let alone 45 *miles* in varied terrain.

    Well done boys. That's quite an achievement. Super human really. Interested what dates you did this. Looks like maybe mid to late July? Just wrapped 14 days in the Fitz on the other side a few weeks back poking around the headwaters of Torrey and Dinwoody creeks. It was downright HOT for the 2nd year in a row. As in not good/spooky hot at 10-12k feet. Glaciers are melting fast and it's a tragedy. Anyhoo keep up the unreal, harrowing human feats!
