  • Apparatus research can be tedious and difficult. However, it can be important to know the manuscript information in order to depict the passage accurately. Enter Philip W. Comfort and the New Testament Text and Translation Commentary.

NTTTC is a tremendously useful resource...so much so that I bought two hard copies (one for home, one for the office) to go along with my Logos version. I also created a layout with the apparati from NA28, THGNT, SBL, and a couple older ones along with Comfort's book for the times I want to see if there are variants not shown in NTTTC. (I almost never find one that is meaningful at all...Comfort pretty much covers all the ones that are impactful.
By the way, don't sleep on the SBL apparatus...it cites the major Greek translations that follow certain variants (i.e., TR, NA/UBS, Tregelles), which is very helpful in knowing where the various translation families will fall out (KJV/NKJV follow TR, etc.).
    Good stuff.
