    As I commented before, there will never be another Johnnnnnnny Carson. What a treasure we had and he was every bit a hero.

    Superb! We’ll never see this on Antenna TV. I think they’ve aired maybe five episodes where a musical guest performs. Also nice to see the proper introduction with Ed 👍 kudos for uploading this.

    I don’t know where you get these episodes with original local breaks, but I’m lovin it. Doc and the band were fantastic!

    • @Skipbo000
      @Skipbo000 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They're not "local breaks" but simply breaks for commericals. When playing it as a rerun from the reel to reeel, they would show more to come, go to commericals then fast forward to the next segment and then press play following the commerical. The reel to reel masters were digitized years ago and have been selling on DVD since then. If you happen to live in a country where the strict copyright does not apply, you can get away with posting it on youtube.

    Richard Pryor's first TV appearance after setting himself on fire while freebasing. Later, Bowie spoke for the country when he said "Richard, it's great to have you back." MS took one of them, Cancer took the other. May they both rest in peace.

    • @AvengerII
      @AvengerII 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Far be it for me to say anything that's remotely pro-tobacco but the fact is Pryor had advanced MS. Whether he smoked or not is not the point. He had a ticking timebomb in the neurological condition that existed since birth. He died from a heart attack that was almost certainly attributable to the MS, not smoking. Smoking wasn't the worst thing he did to himself -- he admitted as much! It was hard drug that really messed him up. There's a fair chance had he NOT developed MS that cocaine or heroin would have caused his death like they did John Belushi. Ironically, the MS probably prolonged his life and he didn't like a bad drug statistic... He lived for 20 years with his diagnosis; he may have been dead by the mid-1990s if he hadn't slowed down a bit and gotten the craziness under control... He lived a very chaotic life and had a childhood you shouldn't wish on anybody. Whatever his faults were as an adult, you have to pity that poor kid and feel compassion when you hear his story. It was not like Belushi at all! MS and related diseases are awful... They develop fast enough to cripple you but you can for decades with limited mobility and little to no ability to speak with other people. I'm not generally crazy about euthanasia but I sort of understand why some people commit suicide. It's awful to be trapped in your body and completely dependent on the mercies of other people, and it has to be 3-4 worse if you have a family and children!

      @@AvengerII Kudos to you for an objective write up. This was stuff I did not know and it rounds out, as Paul Harvey might have said, "The rest of the story!"
      That you were able to present factual information and kept it separate from your personal beliefs speaks volumes. Have a great day, and thank you.
