      Same for us in Australia. I think it’s because Americans aren’t responsible (Australia only really gives frequent flyer points [and we have long distance travel for most domestic and international flights so it is rough] and cash back is only for sign on bonuses)

    • @lewislouis6246
      @lewislouis6246 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RealClintCapelaits not because of americans not being responsible. Actually the entire world is in debt including Australians. Its the fact that Americans spending rate is way higher by comparison to other countries. Its why we get the points and benefits that we do without our spending rate we would get the same thing as Australia. banks can't make money to pass on benifits with a society who has a traditionally low spending rate.

    Nice combo for straight cash back. I wish more issuers had transfer partners though. There are some great cash back cards, like from US Bank, but without travel partners I tend to pass them over.

    • @LonelyyPoison
      @LonelyyPoison หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Wym I'm not from the US and very unfamiliar with that, what do you mean by "Cash Back Card"? Is that a Credit Card that just gives you some portion of money back each time you go shopping? If yes but doesn't that just go back to them, when you pay your monthly pay for the card? Or does that not exist in the US? If yes how do you get your money back by using that card? Just (for example) I go by myself a PS5, a TV and some Games, and in the end all of it costs 700, then I just get back around 10-15 bucks (or dollar) of that just for shopping? If yes that's crazy, but how is that possible, from where does that money come from, I mean I'm pretty sure the store wouldn't want you to give some up, and that's the price for the product and tax, or are those products too much taxed to a point where you can get back some of that tax? Man idk please enlightened me, I'm just amazed by that frfr

    • @spizzlo
      @spizzlo หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LonelyyPoison So I can only speak to the US where I live, but yes, a cash back credit card gives you a portion of money back when you make purchases. Sometines it's for all purchases (or most anyway, a few exclusions) which is a flat cash back card. Those are commonly found at 2%. Others pay more, like 3-5%, but only for specific categories, like gas or groceries.
      The store doesn't pay you, the credit card company does. They have these programs because they make so much money on interest fees from customers. These cash back programs only make sense for customers if you pay off your card in full every month. If you pay any interest, you will pay more then you receive in cash back and it doesn't make sense at that point.
      Credit card companies make billions on people's poor shopping decisions, but if you're smart you can take advantage of that and the credit card company will pay you. The cash back will usually add up in your account, then you redeem it for a statement credit, direct deposit, you can buy gift cards, travel, etc. There are more details but that's basically how it works.

    Hey Dave - Appreciate your videos on the most effective cash back cards you have! As your cashback on the everything and dining cards' rewards rate is tied to holding a large account balance with BoA/Merrill to get preferred rewards and the Amex card has a very high ($700) annual fee I think most of these would be very difficult for the average person to actually obtain. Would you happen to have any good card strategies not tied to as high of capital requirements?

    • @HeythereDavehere
      @HeythereDavehere  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, although my go-to recommendation card has been discontinued (WF Propel Amex) and they replaced it with a 2% on everything card and there are already several options to choose from for 2%. My best advice is to think about the categories you spend in most, and find the mix of cards that reward most in those categories and try to always use no annual fee cards because the fee is nearly impossible to “earn back” purely from the increase in points/cash back rate.
