Thank you! Yeah I tend to spend 15-20 hours editing every video like this. I also work 50+ hours a week so it’s a slow process. I do have 2 more from this trip, and 3-4 weekend trips videos in like for edit next. Hoping to have it all out by the end of the year! I’m also about to leave for Sedona for a week to go camp and check out UFOs on a tour with night vision goggles! Should make for a fun one! Thank you for watching and commenting!
We always have to remember... I still need to get out and home. So it's not shame, it's smarts to let the obstacle win. Plus! That's what I bought a winch for... "I get to use my winch finally!!" Not letting the trail win makes for a REALLY bad day, for us folks that don't trailer our rigs everywhere.
Truly enjoy watching your videos. Such a great job narrating and working the camera. Being down here in Florida, we do not get such a variety of terrain and amazing vistas. I look forward to coming out to Colorado at some point!
Thank you for the words of encouragement! Colorado makes it easy to be honest! I’m in a flip side, one of these days I want to venture to Florida for some fun!
Great video guys! I didn't realize you guys did videos like this when we talked to you there at the Wall. My friend was the one in the purple TJ and I was driving the white Ram truck. I went ahead and subscribed to your channel and I'll have to check out more of your videos!
Hey bud, awesome you happened upon my video! Our heavy hogs had a hell of a time getting up there haha! Next time! Thanks for checking out the channel, and nice to hear from you again!
I must say, I am really enjoying your content sir! I’m hoping to get my 1st gen sequoia more challenge ready. Did tincup and medano last year. Great videos brother.
Thanks man! I appreciate the support! Those older Sequoias were pretty sweet. Back before Toyota got it in their head that their trucks should be the size of school buses!
Just found you a few days ago. I watch a LOT of other overland youtubers, and i'm really happy I found you. Great video with great production and fun company. Keep it up. I'm spreading the word. 👍👍
your in one of my favorite places. Tried the wall at Poughkeepsie i got about as far as you did i didn't have a winch so i took the bypass lol good job awesome video cant wait to see you do black bear its the only one i haven't done yikes lol
I’m assuming the Tacoma had a regear when the lockers were put in, I’ve got the same regular cab Tacoma with a manual, considering which ratio to regear to when I add a locker. Do you know what he went with? Also considering upgrading to the 2016-17 4 cylinder Tacoma r156f transmission that has a lower 1st and 2nd gear.
I went with 4.88's. I went with the 4.88's mostly because it returns it closer to stock ratios, but really wish I had a little more torque... In this video, I pretty much guarantee I would have made the climb with 5.29's. Downside is that rpm's will be higher cruising at highway speeds. If you can swing it, 4.88's and dual transfer cases is the best option. The r156f certainly wouldn't hurt either!
Nicely done as usual! I’ve been to that lake before, but didn’t come up the gulch to get there if it’s the same one? Some of those above timberline lakes won’t support trout because of their depth and freeze solid in winter. Beautiful country!!
Thanks Scot, that makes sense. I also found some information saying this lake is an old volcanic shoot and it’s incredibly deep. There is definitely the easier way to get to the lake, and probably the way I will take next time! The crazy trails are cool and all, just not necessarily my style. It definitely is beautiful out there! Snow will be flying soon!
I don’t believe so, if you connected from the way we went out. You would just have to check the maps and plan accordingly. I’m releasing a full length version of this adventure in 2 days. 1 hour and 30 minute run time!
@@IndependenceOverland That makes sense…I’m planning on going solo in late August and am actually more concerned about getting stuck on the wall and not being able to get out since it’s one way. I have a new Bronco with 35’s and lockers, so it shouldn’t be a problem…just trying to determine worst case scenario. I forgot to mention the video is fantastic and very helpful to scout the trail!
Man, I dont get that obstacle. Some vehicles do it like it's nothing and some struggle. I just posted a video on it and did not get near as tippy. Maybe the longer wheel base helped. I am wanting to get a rooftop tent and definitely looking at weight so I dont get too top heavy.
It’s a 4 banger and that section is steeper than it looks. If he gives it too little it dies, so he has to hit that skinny pedal. Pretty hilarious if you ask me!
@@IndependenceOverland I have 2019 taco in manual, I feel him on those steep rock steps, I'm also in Denver area, love trails over here that are rated 4 or 5 :) 😃
You make some of my favorite videos, I just wish you made more of them 😂. Love the drone shots. You had nice clear skies for those.

Right on! Overlanding with some rock crawling involved is always my favorite kind of trip! Just subscribed!
Thanks for checking it out man!
Glad I found this channel. Wonderful, high quality, content. Looking forward to the great adventures ahead.
Thank you David!

Well said! 100%!
Great video! It was nice to meet you on the trail, I just sold that purple TJ to my brother. :)
Likewise man! That Jeep was far better suited for that route than I was 😂
Really happy I found this channel, I love the quality of your content!!!!! Keep up the great work.
Thank you for that, I really appreciate it! More travel videos coming soon!

Another great video, I like this travelogue format.
Thank you for the input! I’m trying to make them more personable! Thanks for watching!

Awesome video, The west is on my bucket list to Overland.
It’s a good one!
very well done as usual man .
took me 2 videos to get the Gulch lol
You crushed it with the 80! My confidence is pretty low with all the weight up top. Stoked to see the 4R crush it on 37s!

I do have a video up on Black Bear!

I assume from the video, there is no bypass around “the wall”, so the only way to get to the lake. Is that correct?
I don’t believe so, if you connected from the way we went out. You would just have to check the maps and plan accordingly.

Nice to see Kurtis enjoying himself! Any verdict on Jesse's truck?
Haha yeah Kurt’s pretty funny! His truck was fine, pulled through like a champ!
"don't worry. i always shit my pants..." 🤣🤣🤣
Quote of the year right there! 🤣
What’s in the super blue water?
No clue. Apparently miners used to dump all sorts of stuff in there. It sure is pretty though!

Yeah I think a slightly longer wheelbase would help, but we had a lot of rain during those days which didn’t help either. I’ll get it next time!
Why is taco so bouncy?
It’s a 4 banger and that section is steeper than it looks. If he gives it too little it dies, so he has to hit that skinny pedal. Pretty hilarious if you ask me!

I can’t watch! 😅🫣😂
Haha yeah you might not have enjoyed being there for this one!
It makes me nervous just watching it on screen! Haha.
awesome video, jesses baby taco is pure sex, is that a flipac he has for his camper?
That’s actually a really old Wildernest camper. I believe his is like a 1990 model. That company was ahead of their time!
I did this entire trail in my 03” Tacoma on 37’s in 2WD. It’s not hard at all. Overlanders just don’t know how to wheel
Oh here we go 🤣🤣
