I would say that mental illnesses are very different from cancer, because cancer is seen as this horrible disease that you didn’t choose and you have side effects and so much more, but mental illnesses are not taken as seriously/as serious as they should. Like said in this documentary, no one chooses to be depressed, bipolar or have any kind of mental illness. Still, society sees them as something you can easily overcome or worse, something you chose. I have cancer. It has taken many things from me and has caused me to have anxiety and other mental illnesses; and they make my life at least as difficult as my cancer does. I hope you will/are having/had fun in Italy xx
Hi! I am sorry to appear where no one has called me. But God bless your soul. We can be very moody or sometimes just be out of control and it is not possible to control it. And that makes people go away. I don't blame them, but I ask God to bless the ones that decided to stay near no matter what. When I was diagnosed I felt relived just because there was an explanation for siiii many things (not an excuse just the "why" that I was asking for almost 34 years) Specially the why I have struggled so much to know who I was. I lost many people on the way, also many material stuff. But... It is what it is...
I’m literally crying listening to her family 😭 reminds me of mine... the level of confusion and care. I was diagnosed in hospital as well during psychosis and at the time I remember thinking I one will ever speak to me again now. The love and support my family and friends have showed me still shocks me to my core. I just wish there was something incredible I could do to show them how much I appreciate them. I struggle to show it day to day as I’m still always a bit out of it. And the meds... I put on 20kg in a month.
Beautiful inside & out! I love you Brescia. Thank you for sharing & being so open about your journey. Giving hope to others with the same condition. You truly have a heart of gold!
Girl, you are an inspiration and so strong a person. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for letting the world know that mental illness isn't a taboo. Thanks for giving others hope in their life. I cried through it all cause I felt your pain and struggle. I have 5 mental illness and honestly I'm doing just fine and people as you gives me hope and strength about the future and dreaming. THANKS for being YOU!! ❤
Thank you. My son has bipolar polar. I have guilt and shame he moved out got really sick and suicidal. I feel so much guilt and shame he now lives with me it's still hard. Thank you for sharing.
I have bipolar and it can be hard at times, university was a nightmare and staying in the psych ward isn't a joke either. That said being on the right medication helps a lot and knowing how to take care of yourself is key.
Dear Brescia, I think you are an amazing girl and now a young woman. You recovered from anorexia as a child, and now seem to be working to deal with bipolar disorder too. You are not only wonderful - you are also beautiful. My question is: Who took all the beautiful photographs of you? These are not snapshots; they are lovely portraits with wonderful backdrops. Was it a family member? It looks like someone who loves you!
You are very smart and self-aware. I hope you will be an advocate for other young people with mental health issues. When I was young, and dealing with issues, it was hard due to lack of support and understanding. There certainly was no TH-cam! God bless you, and please keep sharing!👍❤
I Was Diagnosed With Bipolar In 2017, & Have Been Struggling With It Since, But This Video Gave Me So Much Hope❣️Thank You So Much For Sharing Your Story. God Bless You ❣️🙏

Watching this video has helped me with my Nana BC she has a mental disorder and now i know more stuff about it and I can help her. U and ur family stay strong and bleu will be in ur heart forever 💜💘
That’s awesome that your doing well but I wonder have you dealt with the ups in downs? Do you or have you fought going back in forth with manic or hypo manic and depression? Because psychosis and manic is one thing but a huge struggle with bi-polar is the everyday or every week of highs and lows. Thanks I would love to understand more how you over come such a hard battle In your everyday life
Being bipolar is not a death sentence: I have bipolar disorder tipe 2 with comorbid ADHD. I have been through tough times in life, but I didn't accept being bipolar and didn't follow treatments, so I was always in crises. After being hospitalized for 12 days and undergoing treatment and convulsive therapy, I got better and accepted the diagnosis. Since then, I haven't had strong crises anymore. My life has changed: I went to university, studied Law, became a lawyer, did postgraduate studies, and work a lot. I live a normal life, but I avoid coffee, energy drinks, and alcohol. I exercise six times a week and sleep at least six hours a day. Additionally, I regularly see mental health professionals: I go to a psychologist twice a month and to a psychiatrist once a month. I take slow-release lithium carbonate as prescribed. We continue the fight with great determination. Disorder Type 2. My family does not know, even when I was hospitalised a few years ago. They did not find out because my two partners at my law firm organised everything with the psychologist and psychiatrist. Only my partners know about my bipolar disorder. My current girlfriend does not know that I have bipolar disorder. I am working with my psychologist to decide whether or not to tell my girlfriend. I believe the worst part of life for someone with bipolar disorder is the stigma and prejudice. Everyone thinks a person with bipolar disorder is always aggressive. I have never been aggressive with anyone, even during moments of crisis. I have never driven a car irresponsibly. I live a normal life, work a lot, and study constantly because my profession requires me to stay updated. However, I do take my medication. Never stop fighting for a better day, and believe in yourself. Hugs from Brazil.
Thank you for your video. Mental health is not spoken about enough and I’m sure it’s difficult to be so open but it makes such a difference :) Also, what does Grit mean?
Hey this is super inspiring! I have struggled a lot and I totally want to raise awareness just like you! Creating beautiful pieces of art is how I want to communicate with others the raw, realistic truth about mental illness. I have found hope and music has been a really good way for me to cope with everything. Thank you for opening up! ❤️
I have bipolor disorder I got diagnosed when I was 4 and have been taking medication since I was 5 and it doesn't seem or feel like I have it. my only problems are I'm really hyper all the time and have periods of time were i can't control my emotions so I'll be sad 1sec and happy the next. im 11 now
Your so inspiring Brescia your such a strong and wonderful girl and have helped me so much your so wonderful and beautiful and I hope you see that ❤️❤️❤️
These are the times when world seems irrelevant except the family. Family is everything. Friends and relatives distanced themselves during the bad times.
Thank you for video as a fellow bipolar I understand what you been through I been in and out of psychosis for years actually my wife wants to leave me due to it my whole family on my dad's side left they just told me to get over it my dad asked me how long I was going to use it as a crutch but thank you very much for your videos
Hello Brescia I was diagnosed with bipolar in 2017 and since then my life has been up and down... I am either in mania or depression and I really can't concentrate on anything. I have tried school or work and nothing seems to work. I am desperate to find out how you managed to control the episodes and got your life back
Warning for anyone who is thinking about going to Sierra Tucson now.. it's not how it use to be. It was taken over by a big corporation and just isn't the same. They're money hungry and it's like a jail, a very unorganized one. You dont get the help you need unless you're there for addiction because that's what makes money. You end up going to lectures for addiction and hardly get any type of therapy or treatment for the disorder you're there for. What you could have learned from there, what helped this girl here, is DBT skills. Dialectical behavioral therapy skills. Look it up. Buy a workbook for it or ask a therapist about it. It's the only proven successful treatment for bpd that works for everyone suffering from this disorder but you have to put your own effort into it for it to work. Gl.
I wish I could of had the resources you have. Very lucky. I am happy that you are conquering the Hell that Bi Polar brings. But this video is very depressing to me. Because of my reality. I dont have family or The money to pay for help I need. Im really Happy for you! I hope you maintain your achievements
I was skinny in high school. Right now I’m feeling sad because of how I changed over time. I have got called fat by my boyfriend dad . I got called fat by my grandpa
Some things that the family feels from the patient, the patient may be ferling it already from the family but holds inside due to the intensity and the multiple things that interfere.
Yeah bipolar takes over your mind. Your mind doesn’t take over bipolar. It’s a chemical metabolic change. It’d be just like if you had any other illness. Studies show its unusual changes in the hippocampus and limbic system. So it’s just as medical as any other illness. When you think about it, it’s your brain asleep while it’s awake. Psychosis is basically dreaming during the day. And no one says when you go to sleep you choose your dreams. So just try and be helpful and treat the condition the way you would treat every condition out there.
Hello. My parents unfortunately didn't except me. I was rejected bye my mother after I ld say about 20ish. I forgive her because she was unaware. I forgive you mommy. But I'm ok. Support is imperative.
I have bipolar Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) seasonal affective disorder (SAD), ADHD, PTSD, depression, and insomnia, alot of people like to tell me that its easy to live with all these disorders and i dont know what to believe anymore have i been lieing to my self is it really that easy
faith elizaabeth no you are not lying to yourself. A lot of people will tell you that you just have to get over it and push forward but without the right coping mechanisms, you could just be bottling these things up and that’s never good. Don’t let anyone make you feel like what you’re feeling isn’t real or difficult. It is and it’s your own personal journey. Seek guidance and help through others who have been through the same thing though.
Certainly having disorders is a struggle and I don't think people have a right to say how you feel and that your personal experience is "easy". People can't read your mind or feel the exact things you feel.

Dam girl you have been through a lot. Much respect ✊
Mental health is as important as physical health
Bipolar or depression, anorexia, and OCD are all linked. They are all due to abnormal levels of serotonin and norepinephrine.
And dopamine
Every bipolar person do not have anorexıa. However, due to hıgh level of anxıety stıll they have eating dısorders too.

Bipolar is quit a challenge in Kenya. I'm bipolar myself .. the medication is very expensive! Very
Treatment costs alot. Many people can not afford it.
