Yep, you'd be hard pressed to find a more loyal or caring friend than this sweet soul. Sofia is the type to watch you instead of watching the movie to make sure you're having a good time. One in a zillion.

Her emotional intelligence is so developed, and her ability to express herself is really special. I hope she finds the right people who can appreciate what she has to offer.
Many people with William’s have high emotional intelligence. My daughter Andrea has William’s and she can connect with others so well. Andrea can tell when someone is sad or anxious and tries to reach out to help. She is so kind and people love her immediately. Many William’s kids are. I’m thankful each and every day that God has entrusted me to care for her. She is a blessing to everyone that knows and loves her!

Wow. You've become such a stunningly beautiful, emotionally intelligent, and articulate young woman. I struggled with social anxiety, ADHD, OCD and depression most of my life, that was until I started daily yoga and meditation in my 50s. I rarely have an episode now. I hope you learn what works for you to tame it, too. I know you will. It helps to learn to love yourself, and then it no longer matters what others think of you. You must be your own warrior and #1 fan. This channel shows just how many others you have, too. Wishing you love and light always, beautiful soul.

Sadly, that likely intimidates most people she comes into contact with. We are emotional creatures, but it's hard to be vulnerable without risking yourself being abused.

I don't think I'd have ever guessed she had disabilities from hearing her talk had I not been told. Quite the opposite. She's incredibly articulate, sincere, and insightful. Much more so than the typical person.
This young lady is incredible! She is by far wise well beyond her years it’s mind blowing.

I think many people are threatened by purely genuine people because they think it could shine a light on their own disingenuousness. Vulnerability is kind of baked into the notion of genuine interaction.

She’s awesome! Unfortunately she may be too emotionally advanced compared to her peers. I hope her friendships thrive in her adulthood. She’s very mature 🙂
I agree, being emotionally overdeveloped, can be as difficult as being emotionally underdeveloped. People with special needs often experience the world in a very different way that I find incredibly beautiful. I know 35 year old women who were not born with any type of syndrome that don’t come close to this young woman’s level of emotional intelligence.

@@salmeleons Honestly I don't recognize that. I remember my teenage time like a great time full of freedom and the only responsibility was school. I see that also now in my teenage daughters. They start to get an own personality indeed, getting sometimes extreme in their opinions but that is not troublesome. I also don't know any teenagers around me having puberty problems so that makes me think that environment, culture and other external factors does matter.
Sofia, I have a 2 year old daughter with Williams. If she turns out to be half the person you are I will be so proud. You are so well spoken, and so in touch with your feelings. I loved hearing your story.
Thank you for sharing that. I’m my young twenties my best friends daughter had Williams Syndrome. She passed away at 6 years old (nothing related to WS) and I always feel a little spark of happiness when I hear about other children who have it. Which to some may sound a little strange but these children with WS are an absolute blessing in life. ❤️
My son has it too, also with autism, he is non verbal. I have to pretty much have to do most things for him. There is a wide spectrum with Williams.
"Half the person" more like double or so as those with Williams syndrome are really sweet and cute. I wish the best for her! May she live a long and healthy life (As healthy as a Williams syndrome life can be, and better)

But her behavior is "awkward". Other people probably don't want to be seen with her. I honestly wouldn't have a problem with that. She's very kind and intelligent.

Her wisdom and intelligence is possibly what makes it hard for her to be accepted by people her own age.
She is beyond her years in the way she communicates and how she comes across - I think the average boy or girl her age are, by the fact they are teenagers growing into adolescence, obnoxious (not saying all are!)
Hope that the older she becomes, the more accepted she becomes - the kids who ignore her now will hopefully mature and reach her level of emotional intelligence in a few years.

The word you use "Awkward" is your opinion, and while you may have not meant harm by using it, how would you feel if you read on here that someone thought you were awkward and that's why they don't like you. WOW. That hit me like a brick wall. That’s exactly it. We know love because of how others show us love.
Maybe that is why I struggle to know what love is, not having a loving sister? But I had TV sisters and TV moms and dads and characters in books to teach me love. And Jesus and the angels. So you can still have a way to learn love even if your whole family abused you ever since you were born. And now they don't because I escaped and disowned them. But I wonder what it's like to experience love in a relationship you're in with a live group of people that is like a family rather than reading about it in a book or seeing it played out on a screen?

Seems to me that gaining the friendship of someone who has this Williams Syndrome, you will be gaining a friend for life, and that in itself is worth more than everything else in the universe.
Sophia - you are everything that is right with planet earth. You are incredibly emotionally intelligent and articulate, and as you grow older, I know others will start to really see you for the unique and truly incredibly eloquent and caring and beautiful girl that you are. Some kids your age not have the emotional intelligence themselves yet to really see other people - many adults I know haven't even attained the level of self awareness you seem to possess!
You are an incredible and unique addition to this world, and I know that the older you get, the more people you will meet who will see what we all see in this interview. I’ve been in school with Sofia since 3rd grade, she’s an incredibly sweet individual and I’m so proud of her for speaking about this in such a mature way. Truly a very intelligent, funny and sweet person, and I learned a lot from this interview.

@@daniburke9452 yeah, I was under the impression Williams Syndrome was a 24/7 oxytocin rush, and that they were literally the epitome of love and happiness. I would of never suspected someone with Williams Syndrome was capable of anxiety and depression. I genuinely believed it was a medical impossibility given the nature of the condition.

I can't imagine anyone not wanting to connect with her. Hearing her speak about her emotions, I can't help but understand exactly what it is she is speaking into. I've for many years taken issue with how the people I've known seem to have no interest in reaching out or connecting in a deeper more genuine way. Hang in there Sofia, it's not you, it's the rest of the world that has a problem.
Her quoting celebrities the whole time is frkn hilarious, shes so dramatic lol. I think she should be in a "normal" class cause she really doesnt seem like she has an disability. Bullying always happens. In every class and school unfortunately.

My birth mother had William’s Syndrome and everyone I ever spoke to regarding her told me she was a pure angel. She died before my 3rd birthday. This video has helped me to understand and appreciate what a precious sweet soul gave birth to me
Chris I think a lot of us are really comfortable with this back and forth communication style you have, when we have ADHD, ADD or Inattentive ADD and OCD or Anxiety.
Sophia seems like the kind of person I could get along very well with. I bet she's a good listener. I too have social anxiety, made worse by my own disability, which came on very suddenly. I know how it feels to feel rejected by people you thought were your friends, because you're not like them. Sophia, you're a beautiful lady ❤

This wonderful person made my cry how beautiful she is I have two special Adult kids. I have a daughter with Down Syndrome she is 32. I also have an Autistic son of 24. They are wonderful people kind and gentle they are my angels 😍🥰

She is EXTREMELY well spoken. You can just tell that she's such a genuine person. And she honestly seems like she'd be such a fun person to be around, so I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to be friends with her. She seems like she'd have some REALLY good conversation. Probably laugh a lot and she's got great taste in music. Sophia, I'd be your friend. Honest to God. And my 17 year old daughter said she'd be your friend too. We'd invite you over to hang out or go to the mall or a Taylor Swift concert. I bet we'd have a blast! The people that don't want to be your friend aren't deserving enough to have a friend as cool as you!! And the people that are only kind to you because you're disabled, I bet they'd change their minds if they spent more time with you. I don't even like saying "disabled", I'd rather say "differently-abled". But, anyhooziewoozen (did that word make you laugh? 😂) You're such a kind, funny, spunky, genuine person and literally ANYONE would be lucky to call you a true friend!♡♡♡
I guess some people are differently abled but I am disabled and in my case I prefer to use that word because I don't have any special abilities! x

So pure and the self reflection Sofia show is just amazing. I'm genuinely impressed, she shows way more self reflection than i ever would, and how she answers so quickly tells me that this is something she probably reflected on before or maybe she just have a quicker mind than me. Either way, this interview was indeed a really good interview, just like Sofia intended.

Yo thats a great idea. Im a little confused as to how exactly her issues affect her? Like she doesnt appear to have any cognitive issues? I tried to do some research but it appears William's sydrome has a ton of variation in how it affects people. But speaking appears to be her strong suit for sure, and from what I understand thats common.

First off, you are an amazing man with a deep and wide heart. I only wish the world had more of you! I have been watching your videos for a while now and they are so emotional, but beautiful. People come in all ways, shapes, and sizes. What society often sees as a disability is misplaced. As in this video, I am struggling to see the special needs of this beautiful woman. She is articulate, funny, poignant, loving, aware...i could go on. I think, sometimes we are too quick to judge and not be open to others. God bless her and you. Keep shining a bright light in this otherwise dark world.

Sofia you are an amazingly smart speaker, I could listen to you for hours. You were so brave to do this interview and I admire that. My grandson has William's Syndrome and he is just full of love but struggles with ADHD. He's only five years old but I love him so much. Although we live far apart I watch lots of videos his mom and dad send and I feel closer to him.Thank you for enlightening me with your wisdom.
