You can buy the early access for star citizen for 45usd. 1 time purchase, no mandatory subscriptions, and the rest of the ships (and items) are or will be available to purchase in game. Keep in mind that Star Citizen is a live service game, and that HOPEFULLY will never be done. The Star Engine marketing video here demonstrates how the graphics have improved over the original alpha release almost 10 years ago. They'll be able to keep scaling it up as features are implemented, so it'll never look dated. The big buzz of course is that they're now in the final stretch for completion of SQ42, and the UI and navigation is getting finalized and moved over to Star Citizen. That phase will be the time, I suppose, the general gaming audience would think of the game being "out". Just keep in mind that it probably won't be complete until they shut down in a couple decades, so it's silly to wait beyond 2024 to join the Verse. The rollout on final polish in the next year is already looking nuts, since they only showed us the content coming through the 4th quarter.

  • @hunteriv4869
    @hunteriv4869 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    You mentioned the blood, sweat, and tears...the game has a full actor status system. Your characters don't just have hit points; they need to breathe, are sensitive to pressure, can get hyper or hypothermia, dehydration, etc. And these will affect the character, causing light sensitivity, nosebleeds/ear bleeds, and you can pass out and die from exposure. The game also doesn't have a "magic" inventory system so everything you carry on you needs to be in a pocket, backpack, or otherwise attached to you, so you'll need to store gear and weapons you aren't using on ships and in hangars. Basically, if you plan on going into deep space, bring some food and water and make sure you have any sort of suits you'll need to explore extremely hot or cold environments.
    It's not a "hardcore" simulation, so the timers for this stuff are really long and will only come up if you go way outside the beaten path, but if you go outside in a t-shirt and shorts on that first planet you saw (Microtech), you'll freeze to death pretty quickly, and even standard space suits aren't enough (contrary to popular belief, space is not "cold" in the same way a planet is) to protect you for long. They will be expanding this system a bit, but pretty much everything I mentioned, at least in effect, is already in alpha and playable.
    Star Citizen is intended to be a space sim, with an emphasis on the "sim" portion. There are no player stats, skill points, perks, or whatever. Everything is based on what equipment you have access to and your own player skill, such as aim, knowledge, and skill with various minigames for different occupations (i.e. mining requires careful throttle control to avoid blowing up the rock). It won't be for everyone, but for those who are looking for this type of thing, there's really nothing else out there like it.

    In order to simulate the universe Star Citizen wants to implement a high level universe simulation that imforms the detailed simulation around the players.
    For example: A player and his environment (maybe a city district) ist simulated with npcs. The player is able to interact with those npcs and do mission stuff. Everything outside outside the city district or his field of vision is streamed out and neither simulated on the local pc nor the server. Instead the inhabitants are statistically simulated on a high level, with some named npcs also being tracked in the general area instead of their exact location. This allows the game to simulate millions of inhabitants since they do not updated multiple times per second but maybe once per minute.
    Currently there is not such high level simulation in the game, so whenever a city is streamed into the server it is pre-initialized with ncps spawning at their assigned location and then going about their routines until they are streamed out (when no player is around anymore).
    However we do have persistence now, which means that any entity / item in the world has a position and is saved in a database. So when a player leaves an area and the server streams out data that data is saved in the persistence database. When a player enters the area again it is initialized with all the previously saved items in their previous location.

    • @elfwyn8707
      @elfwyn8707 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SonGoku-hi8ow This is the concrete plan all along since 2012. Some of the features have been shown in prototypes and some of the background serivces facilitating this are allready in game.
      Whats allready in:
      - When a region is void of players it is streamed out from the server and the local pc to save ressources. That region is now effectively inexistant... but
      - Persistent Entity Streaming allows for all Game Objects to be streamed out into a database and streamed in again when players enter a region. That means while a region is not simulated it does retain its former state once the simulation starts again.
      - Global Economy - Buying, Selling and Stocks are handled by a global service in the background and are not strictly bound to any one Game Server. Since each individual Server has a small population at any time this often leads to confusion as buying on one Game Server might lead to shortages on all the others. But this is only a small part of the intended universe Simulation.
      Whats coming:
      - Quantum is what CIG calls their universe Simulation that will drive NPCs, Mission Generation and the Economy. It is an overarking simulation that does not simulate phyisics, collisions and gunfights at multiple frames per second but maybe a few per minute. It simulates archetypes of NPCs that make up buyers, sellers and workers that make up the global economy. Its not really about simulating trillions of NPCs but only a statistically significant amount in the background. Encounters in a certain Regions (Missions) are generated based on this simulation.
      - Named NPCs should also be part of the Quantum Simulation. Those are NPCs created or used by Players on their ships or important Quest Givers and Mission Targets. The location and abilities / stats of those NPCs have to be tracked in the background even when they currently not around players and therefor streamed out of game servers.
      When players enter a certain region than the NPCs are given physical form on the game server, either by statistically aproximating the types and numbers of NPCs to spawn in a location or by spawning a mission Target or other named NPC in the apropriate location.

    • @elfwyn8707
      @elfwyn8707 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SonGoku-hi8ow Well... for now they are starting to give NPCs different traits depending on their role and skill levels. But that is very basic behaviour like civillians, thugs or professional soldiers. Those are combat traits that will influence their tactics systhemicly. When you pull you gun in a landing zones you will see Civillians raise their hands or run away while local police will tell you to drop your weapons.
      There are also Anmation and Behaviour sets for other professions like Storekeepers, Mechanics and the infamous Bartender.
      Those random NPCs behaviours will find their way into NPCs crews someday when mechanics, marines or turret gunners traverse a ship to fullfill their duties.
      NPCs are meant to have various stats that will dictate their prowess with certain tasks and their salary.
      Currently NPCs don't have much of a history to them. They spawn in a location and just spool off their behaviour at certain points. Once they are part of the simulation and become parts of missions their doing will have more purpose.
      That won't make them lifelike but at least more than a random guy standing around in the corner. I doubt that just any NPC will be interactible in the sense that you can innitiate conversations, but at least they should somehow react to their suroundings.

So many companies will say "released " and we often get half baked, buggy, half ass effort games. They immediately sell with DLC and often have more planned, season passes etc.

    At the moment the game is in Alpha, about 55 bucks to get permanent get access. But there is 1-2 weeks of free fly, usually four times a year. One day it will be in Beta, and eventually release. And then CIG will continue to add said solar systems, ships, missions, events etc

      Maybe, but with engineering there would be massive drawbacks when it comes to power management and repairs, and with flight control surfaces, it would be tough to build a meta ship since something that's aerodynamic would have a much larger cross-section than something nimble but far less maneuverable in-atmo.

      not much risk of that, ships are designed intentionally to fill certain rolls with distinct pros and cons, so if you know what ship your opponent has you can pick your ship based of that or like wise their fleet, you can basically go rock paper scissors, after they already showed their hand... this was intended to make it so you cant just go @X@ = best ship in the game and everyone just flys said ship and the best pilot always wins.
      the way its designed if you have the best option vs the opponents chosen ship or fleet combination, even if they are more skilled pilots, you could win due to your tactical advantage by taking advantage of the cons of their ship(s), this is to make it so again you cant just have a skilled player picking one ship and wiping the floor regardless who shows up and again forcing fleets to basically take huge risks if they try put all the eggs in 1 basket, eg one type of ship focus, forcing fleets to be more akin to realife, different ships compensating for the cons of another... so a hammerhead is a death machine vs fighters... but dead vs a persues and again the persues is dead vs fighter bombers due to limited anti-fighter defense, its designed to take on slower ships around or bigger then it... so in effect the 2 ships compliment each other, this principle works from the snub fighter all the way up to capital class in design and non-combat ships as well + you also have armor which is yet to be properly implemented which will also have a major effect on what ships people pick and for what situation, some ships have less pew pew, but are designed with more armor, so eg some arent so hot right now or work unrealistically as their hp pool is to big or to little, but that changes once armor properly implimented, a fighter gun for example wont be able to penetrate armor beyond a certain level... tactics change again... eg a light fighter will only be able to disable weak points of a larger or heavily armored ship and need to depend on more heavy hitters to actually destroy it... if no plans to boarding it are involved... so a fighter swarm wont be a effective way or destroying a cap ship, only disabling its more fragile exterior components... once the shield is down, you will need bombers and larger ships with big guns and they will need fighters and anti-fighter ships to protect them etc etc... so again even if someone owns a hammerhead or polaris or idris etc... they wont be some king bee flying around, but vs the right target they will be.
      there is a degree of customization already with ship modules, so weapons, shields, power plant, coolers etc some ships are already designed in mind to have much larger module switching unique to that ship that change the entire function of the ship, so want a dedicated cargo bay, then you put in the cargo module, want a dedicated exploration model, put in the exploration module and it effects the function of the ship some more then others, were default modules can be switched out like wise to better suit your intent, eg civ, military and industrial modules have a diferent focus in pros and cons... eg industrial can absorb more EM damage since they probably want to flee not fight, but the choice is yours and some ships intended for freight can also provide some pew pew, that will be effective vs some ships or give them some more staying power if being ambushed were they cant flee, but have escorts or deter single seat fighters from harassing them as they have to low dps going forward.
      etc etc... either way what this means is even if you know the ship... you wont necessarily know what modules it has equipped when you encounter it or the skill of the pilot /crew or if its turrets have gunners or not etc... or like again with a multi crew how many spare parts it may have as well to replace damaged parts on the fly, so if you go into combat blind thinking you got the edge... it might not actually go as planned, this also includes the factor espionage and sabotage is a intended feature going forward as well... making sure you dont have spies in your org... or saboteurs on your ship will be important, as give them to much clearance, they can per say shut down your engines and shields in the middle of a fight or open the cargo bays to allow a boarding party on board etc.
      food for thought.

      @@JINGWA64 - That's a long reply for what you're basically saying, which is, "I agree with your explanation of why SC won't have player created ships."
      Also. Fact Check. In the actual game, you're unlikely to know what ship your opponent will be flying or how equipped. With players, there will be certain meta things that can be expected. Although some players will do odd, but effective things, and ai will be a total crap shoot.
      Currently, with ai missions, you can learn what to expect. That's not final design.
      For a daily driver, a generalist ship will be the best option because you can't know what you will come up against. Sure, there is some element of rock, paper, scissors (where a ship is good against some bad against others) but this is all related to a 1v1 and with non multi crew ships. Add in groups and multi crew and paper, rock, scissors becomes much muddier.
      Regardless, as you said and as I said to the other guy, SC ships are designed by the devs to do a certain thing, fit a certain role or niche, and have certain pros and cons.
      Considering CIG takes 6 months to several years to build a ship, it's very unlikely they'll open up custom ship building to players.

    Buddies keep asking me when they should pull the trigger on Star Citizen after watching a few of my streams. I'll tell you the same thing I tell them. When you get your hands on Squadron 42 and beat it, then come over to Star Citizen. By then it should be ready for you. Unless your tolerance is high for bugs I would avoid it for now. They are so damn close to greatness though. Just a couple more fundamental tech pillars to fold in and this game will be what your imagination hopes it is.

    ther won t be ship building, you can still change weapon and internal component. let player build what they want would be a mess to balance, and the ship damage and other systeme would be a pain to code too

      They actually did give a passing mention to being able to create ships eventually in the base-building panel at CitizenCon. I doubt that we'll be able to come up with completely new designs though.

      @@kaollachan They didn't really go into specific details; but, it was part of a conversation where they were saying that *everything* in the game will eventually have blueprint recipes (including ship components and furniture). I'd assume that you'd have a blueprint for a ship fuselage and separate ones for each component though.

      @@randlebrowne2048 CIG ( if they haven t changed on that) always said player could control of a manufacture point ( like you control a station) but not own it, and no passiv money making, still could be a nice way to trasnport a ship in different part to rebuilt ( like part of a bigger ship that couldn t use a smaller jump point?) anyway, let wait for when and if they talk about it and succed into making it work

    Hey next week you can try the game for free at the frozen planet. Rent any ship at the ship convention IAE for free. With a ship, or getting a ride you can go to the other moons, planets and location. The servers will be super loaded... but it is a nice event. You just have to register. Try before you buy for no money

    Well, my perspective is that, it's gonna be released eventually, and when it does, It will be 70 bucks. why not get it now for 45 and just deal with the bugs while they work towards their vision for the game.

    You should pause the video, if you want to talk a little bit more. You miss too much otherwise. If the video is half an hour or more, so be it. Oh and the video itself is stuttering, not the game itself. You can play it already and there is no stuttering for me.

    10:43 I would say everything you've see to this point... 95% of that is currently in game and from this point maybe 30% of that is in game.
    There is a free fly on the 17th nov im sure you're aware but i would ask 2 things.
    1) if you try SC during the free fly, optimise your PC. SC will run not so great if you dont. Fast ram, page file, bumping the graphic card settings for the program, giving it above normal priority. All of these things can be found online. You can try playing without them but i warn you, you will be coming back to optimise.
    2)if you do play SC, come back and make another vid for your thoughts/reactions.

    about not buying a game when its not finished.
    was ANY game in the last few years ever released finished?
    for me Starcitizen is more finished then Starfield.
    not to mention Starcitizen cost like half of a AAA game.

      Going to have to disagree about starfield. The game may have not have a lot of stuff included but it technically released as it was envisioned by Bethesda with not so much bugs. And I do agree that not many games has released with no bugs but a lot has released in great condition like RE4 remake,dead island 2,final fantasy 16 ,lies of P and surprisingly AC mirage. Again like I said in my video don’t take it as an attack or criticism it’s just the way I think. I’ll be playing the game when it’s officially released and complete !!

      Just because a few of the most hyped titles flopped doesn't mean the entire industry has degraded.

      Starfield is a arcade, singleplayer game. The Star Citizen, which is a using the Star Engine, is a multiplayer MMO. There's a big difference between the two!

    • @Texas240
      @Texas240 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I never understand why people feel that if you play 1 game, you can't play another. Chris Roberts himself even advertised another space game that had a crowd funding start (Infinity: Battlescape).
      Since that game is already released, I suppose Star Citizen is also playing catch up, by your logic, despite doing something different.
      As the other guy pointed out, starfield is doing something different than Star Citizen. If anything, Bethesda bringing interest to the Space or Sci Fi genre is a benefit.
      Besides, as far as the software tech underpinning the games, Starfield is playing catch up. But, again, doing something different, it doesn't matter.

      you can play SC now, so its already believed... SF was released into CIG's dust trail that had already been lingering there for years... i played SF and ive played SC... SF wouldnt have even scored well back in 2005, so being released in 2023 and as a SP game which doesnt have to worry about all the MMO engine constraints or low budget and manpower CIG had to deal with... SF is = bad... i gave SF a 3.5 out of 10, because it certainly doesnt get better after the first 30 hours...
      its best feature is fast travel, so you can skip loading screens and playing the game, likewise its second best feature is the shipbuilder, why? so you dont have to play the rest of the game... now everyone knows why sponsored reviews focused on these 2 points like good things and why in steam reviews, 90% of positive reviews dont clock min hours to reach even midway into the game... most dont clock any additional hours over a month latter, instead they are playing something else and yea 90% of said reviews never even reach the hours needed to show they genuinely like the game and want to play it... again almost all positive reviewers... refuse to complete the game, that in itself tells you their positive review... is actually a negative review based of their behavior... so far steam goes the real review score is a overwhelming negative one based of actual player activity.
      and the vast majority that actually put in the hours to show they complete the game and continue to play the game = those who are using mods, since obviously the core experience... kind of sucks, but atleast they can say their positive review was legit... unlike the other 90%.
      the problem with the blind man... is they tend to remain blind as its an permanent disability, so im not optimistic about you being able to see, because if you could, it would have been fixed already.
