Warcraft 3 Reforged supposedly will alter the original Warcraft 3 campaigns, so let's blast through Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne on Hard difficulty before Reforged is released! These videos will contain all cinematics and dialogue along with explanations of the strategies I'm using as a semi-walkthrough.
I am nowhere near as experienced with these maps as the StarCraft 2 campaigns, so it won't be quite as polished of a playthrough, but we will succeed through Hard difficulty nonetheless! - เกม

Even after 15 plus years WC3 is still one of my favorite games to pick up and play when bored. So thanks again for the awesome playthrough!

Arthas' Ascension is still my favourite cinematic to this day. The voices of the past, that last bit of music (which they later remixed for some WOTLK music.) Blizzard cinematics are always great.
I've followed the whole series and it does kind of make me want to play the campaign's again, if I find the time. Also, yeah, this mission is a pain. I have yet to beat it without cheats. I should really go and do it properly...

I was so shocked when I first realized Arthas was going to put on the helmet. I thought he would destroy the Lich King and free himself from his control.
And that's a wrap. Banshee's anti-magic shield would've helped against mana burn. Everything else was done smoothly. Finishing hard really just seems like bragging right compared to normal. You just have to play more seriously with units composition and items. The credits are always a treat; E.T.C. has come a long way since TFT. Great run Jayborino; sorry for taking part in the back seat gaming. Looking forward to the rest of your Blizzard content.
Why don't we just be easy and capture all enemies?

The crazy thing is that this mission can be a lot harder. Even on Hard Mode, the enemy doesn't have 3/3 upgrades.

Lady Vashj's army has full 3/3 upgrades and she attacks with royal guards after a short time.
I've been playing these campaigns on hard kinda alongside your releases and I've finished this mission just yesterday. It was shockingly easy and it took lees than 30 minutes. I almost felt disgusting for the amount of luck I got there.
First of all, Illidan didn't make any moves until like 10'th minute. He went to the South obelisk and I stabbed him in the back while he was fighting frost guards. I took the obelisk and began to fortify it.
Next time Illidan went to the East one. I stabbed him in the back again, took the obelisk and just left that spot because I drained all my resources for the South tower spam.
And then a miracle happened. Illidan went not to the captured East obelisk, but to the West one. And Kael went to attack my South bastion but he stumbled upon Western frost guards and somehow those boys took down amost whole Kael's squad! I dealt with him, then I killed Illidan in a tough fight and took the Western obelisk.
At this moment I knew - it's now, or never. And I just YOLO into the northern Illidan base. There were a lot more enemies than I expected and if Illidan himself would've came, that would've been my end.
But he didn't! Instead he took like 15 myrmidons and attacked my fortified Southern base! I got him by concentrated tower fire and continued to push into the North. Feeling that Illidan will come back soon I just put every protection item I had on Arthas and sent him to capture the obelisk. When he finished, he had 107 HP left. It was so crazy, I couldn't believe I actually did it!
Anyway, this series was a blast. I've learned some tricks and secrets I never knew of. For example, that cheeky INV potion - goblin mines maneuver to destroy the altars, it was brilliant. Can't wait for Reforged - both to play and to watch you playing it.
Kinda sad seeing this series end I enjoy looking forward to an episode everyday

I completed this mission on hard difficulty with 100 food army that consisted of aboms, crypt fiends and destroyers, these destroyers were so useful against blood elves and nagas, because they dispell any negative spell casted on your units( for instance, tornado of syrens ) and positive spells casted on their units ( Inner fire, frost armor) , i didn't even lose any of my units while occupying the four obelisks( well except for one abomination in the last battle for the fourth obelisk)
Illidan: Level 2? Am I a joke to you?
Arthas: I will be Level 10 soon. I just need some time.
Illidan: You think I will be fool and give you time?
Anuabrak: I will hold and buy you some time!
Really. My playthough is:
1.Capture an obelisk.
2.Build the first base nearby the first obelisk.
3.Hold until Arthas become stronger.
4.Destroy Vashi's base.
5.Destroy KT's base.
6.Capture the rest of obelisks.

@@grantarmstrong9648 Imagine if Illidan is never has the eye. The LK will have no scar. The LK will not command Arthas to go to the FT. Arthas will not wear the helmet.
@@spike333s3 I don't know I feel like the Lich King would have gotten Arthas to come to the frozen throne even if Illidan hadn't shown up there much like how Arthas was brought to Northrend to get Frostmourne because as the lich king stated in an earlier interlude "I thrust it from the ice so it would find it's way to you and then lead you to me." so by that logic Arthas would have done this either way.
I think Nerzhul wanted to get out of his prison anyway. Being stuck in a brick of ice isn't that good and by taking over Arthas' body he can actually defend himself personally against attacks instead of praying his mental powers, army, or Arthas will be enough.

Repairs the Meat Wagon -> Destroys the Meat Wagon because he needs to stay in No Upkeep -> Immediately goes into Low Upkeep -> Kills an Acolyte is an interesting succession of events.
Anyways you did great!! I don't think I ever finished TFT in Hard mode (and this mission was very difficult even in Normal) and you just destroyed, I know I'm watching this two years too late but it was very entertaining and it made me want to try and do better.
So I finally got around to replaying this mission (I kept pushing it because I was frankly scared) and I gotta say I loved it, it's much more enjoyable than what I remembered and probably my fav Undead mission alongside A New Power in Lordaeron-yes The Dark Lady is very interesting but in Hard Varimathras is super annoying so you're discouraged from exploring. I hesitate to say it's the easiest of the three missions you fight Illidan because, while yes I did struggle more with Balancing the Scales and The Ruins of Dalaran, that doesn't necessarily have to be the case. It just seems the Undead are more balanced all-around.
You just can get so much mileage at the beginning, what with beating the Revenants from the three Obelisks so you stop Illidan from taking the items and pumping gold from three mines while in no upkeep. The most important thing is keeping Arthas alive so that he gains experience fast, and that's really it. The one annoying point was when Vashj attacked immediately after I beat Illidan which meant I had no mana to stun her out of her ultimate.
Regarding forces: I think the way you did it is the best, just mixing it up. I did throw some Banshees for Anti-Magic Shield but it sadly didn't last that long. Aboms are definitely important because you want to protect your back line, even tho Anub'Arak is basically a one-man army. At first I was hesitant about using air units because of past experiences with Coatl but the Undead are much more capable of handling them than the Night Elves, with Crypt Fiends just picking them off. That way you can keep Destroyers and Frost Wyrms to the side and then bring them over to destroy Illidans forces. Destroyers are just so cool, eating Frost Armor like there's no tomorrow. Basically the only thing I didn't use was Gargoyles.
If you're like me and want to destroy all bases (except for Illidan's main, obviously) the best thing to do is attack right after killing Illidan but with Locust Swarm available. Vashj's base falls quickly enough, Kael attacked as I was destroying it but funnily he died to my Black Citadels. Attacking Kael is more annoying so you prolly want to first destroy the outpost, go back to kill Illidan and then finish his base. The items aren't that great but they help. I got more used to using Death Coil offensively instead of trying to heal weakened units-which can often fail because it's much slower a heal that Holy Light.
The best thing was that I destroyed his mini base and took the last obelisk right as Illidan attempted to do the same with one of mine (I'm not sure I could've taken both his forces and the defenses) so it was much more of a race. I also took pleasure in using the Frost Revenant against him, lol.
Just want to say from UK, I watched the whole playthrough from day 1 every morning and I even got to work late because of it (worth it!). Looking forward to Reforged keep rocking Jay! Thanks for the rest of your content too.

Like when he puts on the Helm of Domination and it collapses the outer structure... that was because they needed the space to build a big energy-transmission tower so they could send the power of Azeroth into a big portal in the sky with a big energy-receiving tower on the other side...

BTW I really enjoyed this series Jay I certainly had a blast watching them.
When I beat this first time (in normal, it took me about 6 hours, I was even more poor at playing games), I thought this ending cinematic must had been cut by errors or censorship or somewhat. Where is the latter part? Why the demonic king Arthas is doing nothing but sitting on his chair instead of wiping out all that naga and elf wretches?
And now whenever I see this ending I feel empty and kinda sad, I can't exactly describe my feeling even in my native language. I sometimes play this whole series just to watch this ending.
All about Warcraft 3 for me is this cinematic.

you can tell that many of us watched the entire series day to day. Simply take a look at our weakening social, financial, and academic lives crashing to the ground
Very cool series. I think I mentioned this on some previous video, but I always beat this mission by building my main base below the south obelisk, and then just sitting there secure in only really needing to defend one area until I felt comfortable to move out. Nice to see another way to handle it.

Personally I would kill Vashj first and quickly. From my experience, like 10 necromancers could kill the naga unless they have royal guards - Wave attack... Blood elves are all about magic, so banshees with anit magic, fiends, abominations should take them out. They have too many options to end skeleton army - priest dispel, slow is nasty too. I would maybe use frost wyrms against this base, since they only have the hawks to cancel them and fiends would take them easy. Now Illidan is more problematic, he has naga again and royal guards, maybe possess royal guards and skeleton the rest? Also he cant mana burn you if you got anti magic. :) Works in theory, time to try it and get toasted by them :P

I watched the whole thing, all other W3 campaigns too. I have a lot of projects and deadlines so I treat these videos like a break. Every time you upload I just stop everything, relax and watch. When you upload short mission I'm like "Shit." but this time I was like "Oh yeah, 1 hour break for this guy". Once I really didn't want to do antyhing and watched whole Malfurions Quest campaign in like 2 days xD

I've watched what I could throughout this re-experience part of me hopes and wants the custom campaigns to return in reforged to see for example how the king Arthas model from the Orc Campaign would look like in HD remastered graphics, but the diversity in the paladin models based on the random beard colors and names kinda made it say oh yeah that looks like a "Gavinrad the Dire" paladin. And the custom campaigns are my most favorite series of Jayborino.
Maybe it’s the Omega player in me, but this map feels somehow incomplete to me if you don’t eliminate Kael and Vashj.
And yep, I watched the whole series. I was looking forward to the episodes every day. I’m glad you did it.
Why are kale and Vashj attacking you with such small armies? With me they have like twice the amount of units, and Vashj attacks me with royal guards.

Having recently finishing both ROC and TFT's campaigns very recently, I feel quite hollow after such a good ending to an excellent game. I awaited to play this particular mission for, like, FOREVER; and I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. It wasn't as difficult as some other missions of the game, but it was just challenging and difficult enough to keep my attention on it through and through. The ending, and the lore of the mission in general is one of my favourites as well. I really don't know what to play afterwards, and I don't particularly look forward to The Founding of Durotar. This was an excellent ending for me to the game, and my playthrough.
Im just amazed that you did everything hard. Same with the crappy missions which takes time
Having watched whole thing you did well, ye the last mission seemed hardest, same with reign of chaos's undead last mission. I really liked the way you used halls and citadels as undead to get better defensive structures and using tyrande to get so many mines in elves holdout. As for improvements I think as much as you dislike item management you clearly got better at it and next thing would probably be using more of the active items effectively(which to be fair you did a very good job with staff of reanimation in this campaign). And of course using even more hotkeys, spells etc to their highest potential but your micro is good already so it's not like you needed to do use every spell perfectly to win those maps, the hardest ones you found a very effective strategy (outside of already mentioned, the 2 groups setup in the culling mission comes to mind). Good job overall, can't wait to see the reforged series when it comes out.
This mission is pretty complicated. You can wiped out Kael and Lady Vash bases but the Illidan base is inreachable because is a island. You could try to take it with air units but is really hard to do it and like Jay said Illidan could rebuild his army pretty fast because the lots of buildings he has in the last base.
Having a hard time on this mission. Rest of WC3 was smooth despite being a rts noob but this is legitimately a nightmare even on normal. Gonna try again tonight.

Each one creeps from obelisk drop an item, iirc left middle and bottom middle drop an stats or something. Top middle and right middle drop consumable creep item

Jayborino you can trap Illidan with a few shades and make sure he can't get out.
Actually khalethos force isn't hard to take down you just need a large force that consists of a lot of necromancers. The thing about his base is he has a lot of sorceress which their slow takes down easily frost wyrms but they can't slow the huge amount of skeletons
Just make sure you load up your meat wagons well before hand.
Somebody had 4 shades surround Illidan so he couldnt do anything. I am not used to wc3 surrounds and had to do that with 8 shades.
I considered doing this because I knew it would make some people angry, but decided against it.
I also saw that video xD. That guy (Aesis Gaming, I think it was his username) used that strategy to destroy all enemy bases in this mission, including Illidan's.

Oh my gosh. I just realized they had to update their copywrites in the credits with every patch they did.

Gotta admit, I love this just as much as I loved that SC2 playthrough. Must admit that unlike those campaigns, I never really went through WC3 campaign completely. I guess it will change with the Reforged, although maybr that doesn't count :) . I just absolutely adore the meticulous way in which you solve each of these missions, making them look more like a puzzle than some kind of skill wall or something like that. I do hope to see you do things like that with more strategy games.
So what are the plans for this timeslot now? More old games? Or something else?

That's what good strategy games are about, letting player use his brain (along with few helpful tips in briefing for example) to figure out his own approach. Unlike other genres which railroad player experience into one only possible path, strategy games or less linear cRPG let player choose his own way to solve presented problems in their own, individual way.
@@masterexploder9668Very true, can't argue with that. I mean, having to figure your very own approach, with constrained time and resources, is, in my book, up there in the definition of a good game. The main reason why I mentioned that is that a lot of the time people just love to brutforce through these puzzles. Moreover, at times you would think that, for some of the harder ones, it is the only way to do it - just be a little bit faster, a little bit more attentive, etc. And so I really like seeing that if you are careful enough, such things, while good, are not really necessary.
In the end, Arthas becomes the Lich King, and then Bolvar becomes the new Lich King.
The hard difficulty finale
I wonder if they'll keep the cinematics, make new ones, or maybe do more of the close up drama with the new in-game models in place of cinematics?
Some item you picked up or not were questionable but anyway in the long run you still managed to do a quick and clean round of the maps, I really enjoed.
And for the keyboard bug try to change usb-port i once had a similar problem, from 2.0 or 3.0 and viceversa try to see if it changes. If not, I don't know since when you do have your keyboard but there are not much option: clean it, I mean take off all the keys, youll be surprise how much thing there are under there. or starts to consider taking another one, it depends how many times it happens.

To answer your question about blood elves and Naga being in Northrend in WoW yes there are, there are naga around the area but the blood elves all died, the lich king then raised them into becoming a vampire like species.
