    Probably for those in Cambridge (nearest city to Stansted) and surrounding areas to fly to Cornwall easily without having to actually go to London. There's quite a few towns near Stansted Airport too, like Bishops Stortford (right nextdoor) and Saffron Walden (40 minutes by bus), which benefit from such flights as a bonus.

    Newquay to Par line uses tokens still to. I did the full route with a HST Class 43 covering for a Sprinter 150.

    2:20 that's actually a hail and ride section where the whole road acts like a bus stop but it's more common for routes that run through the back of an estate to have hail and ride sections but its done for country roads for walkers or residents so they don't have to put a bus stop at every house but on maps and tracking software like bustimes and google maps they mark it as a bus stop half way along the hail and ride section in order to show what time the bus is due on that hail and ride section

    The flight is probably a feeder flight you're flying in reverse. Most people using the flight are probably going from Newquay to London then transferring to an onward flight to mainland Europe without having to go through check-in and bagdrop again. If RyanAir are flying that route with passengers anyway they may as well make it avalible for domestic travelers as well.

    • @benolifts
      @benolifts  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Ryanair don't offer transfer flights and multi flight journeys. All transfers between flights have to be done manually and unofficially, and luggage has to be collected and checked in again. This also means that the second flight will not be honored if you miss it because the first flight is delayed.

    • @The0Meerkat
      @The0Meerkat 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting. I would guess that the flight is still being used that way even if it is people self transferring.

    I absolutely hate small airports, but only when I fly from them, not into them. The reason I hate flying out of them, is because I always arrive to the airport at least 3 hours early. You get through security in like 5 mins and then I’m like ‘why did I arrive 3 hours early’. There’s barely any stuff to do, unlike bigger London airports which have observation decks, lots of lifts, shuttles, while at a small airport, you don’t have anything to do. But when you fly into a small airport, it’s great as you land, go through a passport control and security in under 15 minutes usually.

    The older I get, the more I appreciate smaller airports. Instead of having to walk miles to get to and from the plane, you can get there in minutes and spend more time enjoying wherever you're visiting. I really love the cute airport at A Coruña in Spain.

    In all fairness, is there any need to upgrade the Looe Valley Line from a token as 99% of the time it is only going to be one train on the line? I am personaly of the view that if it isn't broken why should you fix it?

    18:22 I agree. I visited Torquay last year (June 2023, that is). Really nice place. I could also see why the area down there is called the English Riviera - the palm trees (coinciding with the elegant buildings and lovely sunny weather) made me think I was more in my home country (Italy) than in the UK! My only negative of Torquay is that there isn't much to see, basically just an hour and you'll have visitied everything worth seeing there

    00:06 understandably you wanted to visit Devon & Cornwall, and having been there (and especially me doing regular day trips to Devon as they're in a fairly reasonable distance from where I live) they're lovely places to visit. But if I were you, for the same price, I'd have instead returned to Naples. We have introduced new CAF Inneo trains on metro line 1 with very nice IGBT-VVVF sounds, and we are about to reopen line 6 which is also being extended to Municipio from Mergellina, allowing an interchange between lines 1 and 6. Plus, the trams are fully operational yet again and have been since 2020 (when you went in 2019, trams were temporarily suspended to facilitate regeneration works on Via Nuova Marina, one of the major roads that the tram uses)

    Connecting flight at Stansted? Dat even a thing? If you do it the self-hub way on your own risk true. Cant imagine many people do that. Airports like that one are indeed a small shed. You should have seen Hemavan airport in the Scandinavian mountains. Now that is a proper shed! Arrivals and departures have the size of the departures hall in your video. Could have been a tent if it wasn't located in the cold climate.

    • @benolifts
      @benolifts  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      There is a connecting flight section at Stansted, but is is very rarely used, as Stansted is mainly just RyanAir who refuseto do connecting flights.

    If you look at the semaphore signals closely you will find that they have a counterweight, so if a cable breaks they will default to stop.
