Depends on what "successful" is... ELP/YES would have a word as well as Rush and I would consider the Moody Blues to be prog (though some consider them more Pre-Prog)...
ELP: includes 9 studio albums, 24 live albums, 12 compilation albums and 17 singles.
YES: Over the course of their career they have released 23 studio albums, 18 live albums, 15 compilation albums, 44 singles,
Genesis: contains 15 studio albums, 6 live albums, 3 compilation albums and 10 box sets. They have sold over 100 million records worldwide, including about 21.5 million RIAA-certified albums in the United States
Rush: 19 studio albums, 11 live, 11 compilation, 38 singles. Since then, they have achieved 24 gold records and 14 platinum (3 multi-platinum) records. According to the RIAA, Rush's sales statistics also place them third behind the Beatles and the Rolling Stones for the most consecutive gold or platinum albums by a rock band.

Something nobody talks about when it comes to Phil's drumming: If you want to really nail his sound and style, you have to keep your hi-hat foot stomping those 8th notes while your stick is playing at the same time. That aspect of his playing is easily visible in this video. His hi-hat sound was really distinctive because of that.

I don't know why Phil is not appreciated - he was one of the strongest Drummers of his time! Plus a very good Musician and Singer! Asked how he got such a BIG drum sound he replied " I buy fuckin' BIG drums!!!" respect!

I love Phil's humor, must've been great to have the opportunity to meet him. I would love nothing more than to
Shake his hand and say thank you.
Not to forget about all the other guys that contributed to Genesis and Phil Collins Solo. I love them all equally.

@Nelson Robert Willis Excellent insight. NOT an exaggeration. Genesis and Phil Collins will be revered in the decades to come, I predict. Much as some classical composers and performers of their day were vastly under appreciated. History has a way of letting the cream rise. We must just enjoy the creative genius and let the critics wallow in their ignorance and self importance.
(it is so fun to see the recent reaction videos becoming so popular seeing Phil Collins for the first time....in his later LIVE version of 'In the Air Tonight' they are blown away when he slyly jumps on the drums at the last second. Being coached as a young actor he knows how to use drama. He brought a lot more to Genesis than just great drums and a perfect voice)

@Nelson Robert Willis Thanks again. I checked into it and you are so right. Dave Meyers is amazing. But this jazz group (link below) is beyond good. If you like jazz, you don't even need to know the music to be blown away, but to know it is crazy. SO GOOD. I only hope Phil Collins has heard this, I am sure he would approve:

His writing skills alone are impressive. Disney basically says, "make a jungle themed soundtrack to tarzan." No problem...years later..."now make a pacific northwest forest/Native American themed soundtrack to brother bear." No problem...

How does he keep one beat with the right hand, and a faster beat against the cymbals with another hand, and then maintain a rhythm with his foot - and sing this song?
    Like wtf?
And playing guitar 🎸 and 🎹 keyboards with two hands while background singing is no simple feat either.
    They deserve millions.
    For these musical contortions, sure.
But for composing the background music of my youth?
How could I ever thank Genesis?
