Nice walk through. Thanks. I just ordered (Nov 2024) a new VT40X with the Footswitch. That was based on the great rep VOX VTs have for CLEAN Valve Pre-Amp tones... and the great price. That Blind Amp Test by Andertons was an extraordinary result for this under-rated box. Like you, I'm not seduced by 99 stryle presets. But I figure I can find EIGHT manually selected Effects Preferences and store them for immediate Footswitch selection while playing my LP59 clone. I use a few pedals in front as well, including a Looper. Thanks for the road map.

Great little amp and actually surprisingly powerful and very clean at volume, given its cab size (next to my '77 Fender Twin and '78 Marshall JMP 50W - this is one of the best amps I've used). Thanks, I too had no idea until your thing. I bought this, or rather was sold it when I bought an electric guitar. Suspect it's more of a gimmicky thing really for those of us with no clue.
You can use one of the 'stomp box' effects and one of the 'time-based' together at the same time. And of course, you can add reverb. But you can't use (for example) auto-wah and org dist at the same time - or multi-chorus and tape echo at the same time. Now, I guess you could save a preset with one effect, then add another on top of it. That would probably work.
@@Matt_Bryant We can just add effects sequentially. Maybe, the effects of the same pedal, when selecting, may change instead of adding. Thanks for the response mate! 👍
I don't have any experience with the ad50vt. Not sure if you'd want to sacrifice wattage/power or not... I imagine if you could get by with lower wattage, the VT20+ is good-sounding amp for the price. The VT20+ has more amp models for sure - although some are useless and don't sound very good. You may have to do some research online and see which amp suits your needs/wants the best. Thanks for watching. :)
nice vid thanks! have the same amp but cant get a nice 70s crunch sound out of it. using a Fender Player Series Strat, no Pedals. what am I doint wrong? the distortion is always metally, when i turn down the volume on the guitar the sustain decreases and it sounds like a clean Channel with distotion on the Highs....
For quite a while now, I've been keeping the amp on 'manual' and finding a good clean tone using gain, channel volume, high, mid, and low. Try that and use the 'gold drive' stomp box effect (next to the tuner). You might find that '70s crunch you're looking for. Thanks for watching. :)

Did you save it to a preset? If so, you should be able to call it back up. If not, do your best to nail that tone again and hold down a preset button and it should "write" that tone to that preset. Good luck!

How to chain up to 4 effects, per the owner manual? I have the VT40+ and while I understand the amp model selections, and how to save presets, the owner manual makes no mention of how to chain up to 4 effects and save those as part of a desired preset. And the Korg USA website basically says, "don't contact us for how-to questions." All I can figure out is that, since there are two separate effects sections - "Pedal" and "Mod/Delay" - that one can only select and save TWO effects at a time per desired preset, not four. This is because if you set an effect (or two) and write a preset, and then change either the Pedal or Mod/Delay section to select another effect to chain to the first, your original selection is lost. Anybody else having this issue? I've checked many videos and can't seem (yet) to find anyone walking through a chaining of up to 4 effects per preset, per the Vox manual.
I have the same question. I've searched all over the internet for an answer to this. Amazingly, you're the first person I've come across who is also wondering. So frustrating! As far as I can tell the only way VOX can justify saying this amp can use 4 effects at once is: reverb MUST be one of the 4 effects & you consider the amp model you're using to be an "effect."
The four are as follows: noise gate, one pedal, one mod/delay, and reverb. There is no chaining of like two effects from the pedal section for example. Manual words it oddly, I agree. You could try adding your own pedals in front but modelling amps can be strange when adding pedals.
Hey Matt, thanks for the video. Why does the volume on mine change when you switch amp models and yours doesn't? Is it your mic or something wrong with mine?
The presets are pre programmed to be at their optimum volume for that tone set by vox. So when you switch to a new preset it puts it back to the optimum volume until you move the vol knob again. Just turn the vol knob slightly to “activate manual volume”. So once you find a sound you like save it in a bank and it will save “your” optimal volume. If hold the far left button down and put it in manual mode this is not the case when switching between amp modules. The volume will be what ever value the knob is at. The power attenuators knob value is never saved in your bank so if you change the wattage you will have to put it back. Hope this helps someone. This amp has a lot of cool features that are stackable. I love it. So many great sounds. Also has a hidden noise gate you can set.

I haven't tried plugging a mic into it. If you had a mic with a 1/4 inch cable - maybe. But I have not tried it. As far as a mixer - not sure why you'd want to plug a mixer 'into' a guitar amp. Usually you plug an amp into a mixer. The only inputs this amp has is the main input and an aux input. So, I'm not sure what would happen. The only output is a headphone out - which could be used to go 'out' to a mixer (maybe). Thanks for watching. :)
My guess is the problem is with the headphone jack. When headphone is unplugged the contacts close for the speaker to play again. Dirty contact connection.
Hate it when you change to an Amp model & it blasts you really Loud, No warning,So I turn the volume down while changing Amp Models.Good sounds are here waiting to be played.
I'm not sure why they did that... There are 11 basic amp models. Then there's the "basic, effect, and song. Then there's the "standard, special, and custom. So there's 33 models and 3 "versions" of each model. Some are supposed to emulate rare boutique amps... There are 99 total. Thanks for watching. :)

BTW that's with pedals, mods, and reverb off. And double greens or any color combo
Not sure... I know the gain and EQ varies between amp models, but I'm not sure why it does that. Weird. :) Thanks for watching.
Mine does the same thing in song preset mode
I have one of these but it doesn't work anymore. Power cpmes.on but no sound. Tried cleaning the inputs but no luck
Have to ask.... Is the 'master volume' or 'power' (far right knob) turned down by chance?
Hallo .
All good bud. Im drunk when I play too lol

HELP‼️
Can I plug in a singing mic into this amp!?
Can I plug in a mixer into this amp?
I haven't tried plugging a mic into it. If you had a mic with a 1/4 inch cable - maybe. But I have not tried it. As far as a mixer - not sure why you'd want to plug a mixer 'into' a guitar amp. Usually you plug an amp into a mixer. The only inputs this amp has is the main input and an aux input. So, I'm not sure what would happen. The only output is a headphone out - which could be used to go 'out' to a mixer (maybe). Thanks for watching. :)
Nope buy a cheap PA system
Okay
Does anyone have a problem with it cutting out all the time….never does it when using headphones. I have to keep turning it off and back on
I've never had that issue. Is it still under warranty? I'd take it back and exchange it. That's pretty frustrating...
My guess is the problem is with the headphone jack. When headphone is unplugged the contacts close for the speaker to play again. Dirty contact connection.
My VT 20+ has a corrected "Manual" tag, lol...
Haha that's pretty cool that they fixed that!
Hate it when you change to an Amp model & it blasts you really Loud, No warning,So I turn the volume down while changing Amp Models.Good sounds are here waiting to be played.
Apparently you can record out the headphone jack? Has anyone done this? How bad was it and how did you docitvjust aux to a laptop ?
I haven't tried it... but, I don't see why you can't go from the headphone jack to a 'line in' on a laptop. It should work.
lol..I'm a drummer too!!....pretending to be BONO ..so i need this crap too..hahaa
😎😎😎😎😎
"Maunal" Mine is spelled correctly lol
Guy loves beef jerky
You left out storing the presets
I did... I never use them and I guess I just forgot. Thanks for watching. :)
Still can't work that damn tuner out!
😂 😂 😂
Just out of curiosity, why does it say "33 Amps" rather than "99 Amps"?
I'm not sure why they did that... There are 11 basic amp models. Then there's the "basic, effect, and song. Then there's the "standard, special, and custom. So there's 33 models and 3 "versions" of each model. Some are supposed to emulate rare boutique amps... There are 99 total. Thanks for watching. :)
Matt Bryant Also, if they are using an actual tube in the amp, how often does it need to be replaced?
@@aycc-nbh7289 Honesty, I've never heard of anyone having to replace the tube. I believe it's the pre-amp that has a tube. I've had mine for about 6 years - everything still works fine.
2:10 ... its not funny . MANUAL is correct ...not MONO ...
MANUAL means you hv to set the control of yr amps manually ...
Otherwise it will be in preset mode ... no need to set anything ...just pick
I didn't say MONO, I read the misspelling of MANUAL. Mine says MAUNAL.
I thought it was pretty funny. I can’t believe no one at Vox noticed the spelling error😂
Ethereum 🎸
Mine says Manual hahah
on my AMP it says Manual xD
Yeah now idk why I wrote this stupid commentt
It's not stupid. Sounds like yours is spelled correctly. 👍👍
Man,confusing.i just one no clue
