When it comes to cookie, I think this is where the saying "music is subjective" comes to play. I can see how the English lyrics is a bit more suggestive but when they explained it on their ig acc, everything make sense hence for the cookie turning into a cd in the mv (metaphor) and how the fans are "thirsty" for more content coming from them and the lyrics "only baked at my place" meaning there's no one like them so you really can't find it somewhere else.

But the translation seems to be a bit strange. It's a little different from the Korean lyrics.
@@skyshin39 I hope you realise the song is originally written in English by an English speaker. It was 100% written to be suggestive and Hybe did the absolute minimum to add another meaning in Korean that they could try to get away with while still stirring up controversy for marketing. Hybe is not new to releasing songs on the world stage lol, people acting like they had no idea is almost more insulting. It's like saying they are incompetent.
@@Mrsuperdestroyer Not all countries in the world use cookies in a sexual way. I know the lyricist speaks English, but he's not American. And as long as the Korean lyrics are translated and announced like that, I think it doesn't matter whether the original lyrics are in English. Because it means they felt strange and changed a little. Of course, If ador wants to sell to American fans, it's right that he has to be considerate of that.
Also I watched the member version to see more of their story of hype boy !!!
This group is very young, beautiful, talented in which they are all fluent in English and produce/write the lyrics to their songs! 💜

I haven’t paid attention to any new girl groups in years and mainly focus on my favourites. But NewJeans and Le Serafim have become and addition to my favourite list. Meaning I’m sure to keep updated on not only their music but other videos and projects they do.
I love their musical style in comparison to other artists and I’m glad to support them. The lyrics for cookie had me saying, “Why are they singing this omg!” 😂 but i can’t lie…I like the song a lot hahaha
I feel like both groups will become even more popular throughout the next few years. Especially if they continue with music like the ones they’ve released from their albums 💜

I don't think anyone has mentioned it, but the youngest is 14 yrs old and the oldest is 18. I feel like the youngest someone should be to sing Cookie should at least be approaching 18 pretty soon? I dunno but anyone under 16 should be a hard pass. I know 14 yr olds know far more than they probably should, but that's different than what comes across as maybe child exploitation. Some people even defend it by saying it was a marketing tactic, but that just makes it worse to me... especially when DKDKTV is reporting that their music is actually attracting people in their 20s and 30s mostly. Someone in their staff said maybe the parents of teens are buying their music, but apparently lots of other bands have teens showing up in their data. I liked Cookie the most, but the lyrics end up making me sad... and then it makes it hard to enjoy the rest of the songs. I don't blame people for still enjoying their music, but the whole situation freaks me out.

About cookie, the english lyric is a little bit mistranslated. Like the korean people usually says that. And they explained about the 'cookie' is actually a Cd and like their music. And they talking about like come and take a lookie to our music, 'taste it' like 'listen it' and baked on my place is like recorded in my studio. These kinda lyric. And this why in their cookie mv there is their Cd at the back

Cultural difference hits hard on cookie
I never even listened to American pop because it's all boring, formulaic, and simplistic noise. Years of Tool, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Slayer, even Radiohead, Bjork and Bon Iver. But before NewJeans I had never listened to any K-pop. Now I'm obsessed with them too.
The MV for Ditto, and the ones for Cool With You and OMG are such well done pieces of storytelling, I immediately became a Bunny. Then as I dug in more, I found that all 5 members have great voices and are all really sweet and likable. Haerin is my bias. I'm not convinced she's an earthling.
To be fair, my reaction to Cookie was pretty much the same as yours. It's my least favorite song of theirs.

No offensive but there are some need respect to other culture things not only Korean but also global fans. I totally understand that some English users felt some uncomfortable. I also think that lyrics is something weird in translation. I'm not trying feel like ownership of a song that everyone enjoys, but it is Kpop and it lyrics writen as Korean language. If you're a Kpop listener, you wouldn't think it was weird when the lyrics had ni-ga (you). But how would you guys feel if people who don't know Korean came and expressed excessive discomfort and expressed you as an racist?
