This is where I'm at. The whole Bethesda didn't freak out over how lame parts of this game are. Strikingly face slappingly lame. Oh my word those stupid float temples. My word.
@@ikeduno7973 There is a MOD (I think it's called Easy Temples). It auto solves them. But what's even funnier, is this mod doesn't deteriorate the original vision. It's still just as cool to watch your character get a new skill and you don't have to chase the stupid sparkles. This + less temples + just calling Vladimir would have made this an engaging mechanic. IMO.
or they were silent on this detail because someone on the team was really sensitive on their idea and everyone in the room just let them have it out of fear of trying not to make them feel bad. you guys know how cooperate America is nowadays, they are always trying to force that stupid sensitivity training on everyone and so everyone ends up walking on eggshells and has to put up with all the pussies in the room so they can keep their job. or your can't micro aggress that's sexist or racist or whatever ist or phobe nonsense they throw at you, there is simply no room for any disagreement, this kind of sterilized working environment only leads to a shit product at the end of the day, and this is the problem we see industry wide right now.
It's wild that starfield universe is supposed to be grounded yet they have no from of telecommunications? I guess if they added that they would have to remove like 80% of the quest. I am glad you pointed out the faction thing. It's so weird that during the uc one even if you are a ranger it doesn't get brought up when talking to the freestar embassy to convince them. Also when you join the pirates you also bypass most of the combat since none in any planet or glaxy will be hostile towards. A bit odd that they will all know you are a pirate now, but theres no telecoms, so I guess it's just magic.
Exactly! There was no afterthought about the quests, consequences, and the writing in general! Bethesda just filled the world with a bunch of islands like, isolated factions that simply don't care about anything other than their own storylines...
Totally understandable. I hope modders manage to make a mod that replaces those aspects with more grounded stuff for people who like to experience the game that way.
I'll wait for the expansion release before diving back into Starfield. In the future, I hope Bethesda will consider using a different game engine than the Creation Engine.
This is definitely the best decision. The game would be much more tolerable with varied Points of Interest and vehicles. Hopefully by that time there's also a lot of cool mods available as well!
@@rodneymathews6775 I really can't tell if it's possible for modders to fix the loading screens (replacing them with landing cutscenes maybe?) or the space travels, but I'm pretty sure there will be tons of insane mods for this game in a few months!
Starfield was my 2023 Game of the Year honestly. I was so happy with how the title released and I’m serious… barely any bugs I came across and the game is pretty much Skyrim in space. It was a dream come true. 😊
I don't listen to negative reviews any more. I love it. Just wish they would have made the uniforms and space suits as cool as the mods that are coming out. And the mod spacesuits should be available for your crew. To my knowledge you get one.
I think if there were a new sport which was most prevalent amongst video gamers with access of youtube - it would be Starfield bashing. The game is really good, extremely versatile and gives an unparalleled execution of choice. It has so many choices, each of which overall affects the later games, it makes the game unique. Can it be improved, of course! but the game is no way bad or boring. I am not sure what these bashers were actually expecting.
@@ChangingHorizons Your original comment stated that "You're not sure what "bashers" expected from Starfield. This supposed basher you're talking about has explicitly stated what was his expectations with the game, hence doubting if you have watched the video or not in my first response. Criticizing a video game that someone has paid their hard earned cash on with different points is not "bashing". No one would benefit from spreading pointless hate. That's why people who respect games would voice their problems with different games in hopes of receiving a better product. Also the video is not about hating on either Bethesda or the game - I believe it's clear as day, especially in the conclusion chapter if you have watched it. You not agreeing with the points is totally fine, I'm not expecting everyone to agree with it. But disagreeing without providing any counter argument does not make any sense. Starfield is a lackluster video game in its design department when you have an array of other action rpgs with modern design approach. The game's technical properties are extremely outdated both comparing to the games in the same genre or the games at or larger than Starfield's scale. The lackluster writing doesn't even need an explanation. You claimed that the game represents an unapparelled execution of choices which is not true by any stretch. Starfield, at its best is another Light ARPG, similar to Fallout 4 and Skyrim before it, but somehow it's a lighter RPG in every conceivable way compared to the studios prior work and the competitors. Not sure what I and many like me who couldn't enjoy the game expected? We expected a natural improvement on older Bethesda games and something comparable (or better) than the current competition, which is completely explained in the video.
Ok, since you mention that I didn't provide counter arguments - here they are. City design - there are many cities, new Atlantis, neon, akila, Paradiso etc. There are many other hidden cities and settlements. The more you play more you find. People have played over 600 hrs and still discovered new things. Side quest types - side quest include everything starting from being a pirate to being a law enforcer and back to bounty hunting. That is what I mean by execution of choice, each of which may affect later. You can be what you want to be. Skills like manipulation - why is it so inconceivable that there is a possibility to manipulate or convince someone not to shoot you. It is even possible to manipulate the final boss fight enemies (both the starborn as well as hunter) to not fight and go their own ways, if your skills are up and manipulation neural device is there. This also shows execution of choice, if you don't fight but want to progress, you can do it by talking your way through. The story is not lack Lustre in anyway, it is unique which might or might not appeal to everyone. It has a storyline which is quite interesting if you ask me. The powers are optional and you may choose to ignore them completely and still complete the game. If you complaint is about the voice acting or characters not being interesting, I found Andreja to be quite interesting. By the way, everyone who played the game paid money except those who received it for review. And the game is still improving, the patches make it more fun. So you were critical of the game, which is ok. But then you open the doors for others who like the game to criticize you on basis of your critiques.
@@ChangingHorizons Firstly, I didn't receive or play Starfield for free. What's your source for "everyone who reviewed it received it for free"? Secondly, I don't mind the criticism especially if it's valid, sound, and reasonable. There are some good comments in the comment section with valid arguments that I have personally enjoyed reading and interacting with, especially with those who didn't insult me because I didn't like their favorite game... Now to your counter arguments, I have already answered all of them in the video, but I will write it down and answer some parts again: City design: The capital city of the settled systems, aka the milky way galaxy, the universe's major trade location, military, science advancements and etc. is in the size of a small district in almost any other open world game (I have used Cyberpunk 2077 in the video as an example). The Akilla City suffers from the same thing and the Neon is the worst example as it's more like a hallway than a city (contrary of what the artworks suggested). Side Quests: The sidequests in this "Role Playing Game" lacks any major side effect on the world and other quests. You can choose to be a space pirate and a space sheriff at the same time, and no one bats an eye. Also, you couldn't even arrest the NPCs before the latest update in this so called "freedom of playstyle and choice" of an RPG. So you're role playing a space ranger? Kill everyone. So much for the role playing... You can be what the game 'wants' you to be in the framework of that specific sidequest. Besides, let's not fool ourselves; Starfield is not an Immersive sim and doesn't have the same qualities of the said genre. You can't even call Cyberpunk 2077 an immersive sim, yet that game has a wider range of approaches in every single quest compared to Starfield. Whatever Starfield offers is at bare minimum of the genre, nothing more. Funny to mention the final startborn fight. Do you remember the quests leading up to the starborn's finale, right? that you have to go through an army of other starborns first, to suddenly convince the final two major characters with the extremely well written line of "bro fighting is bad" which somehow works and makes them drop everything and go? You consider this deep and well written? The story: It is lackluster. What sort of argument is "it might not appeal to everyone"? Did I ever mention I didn't like the story? I have explained every reason during the video and I'm not going to type that again, but as I said, the story is promising but leaves everything either unfinished or in an underdeveloped state. I didn't complain about VAs of the game. I complained about the quality of writing and the shallow lore. Oh and since the Temples are not mandatory to do (one of them, the very first actually is) I somehow shouldn't talk about them? Or I should ignore the fact that the game is not a grounded title as promised because it's not mandatory to go through temples? Glad to see you're enjoying the game and I hope you enjoy it even more once the expansion is released.
Bethesda really outdid themselves - a thousand planets as exciting as a parking lot! And that dialogue system? "Hey bro, let's not kill everyone, okay?" 😂 Thanks for the endless loading screens, too. Can't wait for your next masterpiece where we load screens just to open our inventory.
Very unrealistic that getting shot while wearing a space suit doesn't immediately kill you on some planets... Too many load screens, terrible plot, dialogue and the temples are so boring and repetitive!
@@manolobridgante6095 Zero atmosphere should depressurize your suit when shot. So on planets like that you should have had to wear power armor. There's lore friendly ways to achieve this if you're creative.
Initially, this game ticked off some boxes for me: Base building, ship building, ship interiors that now can be decorated, the freedom to go anywhere. Pretty much a Wish version of Star Citizen but single player for me. I like Star Citizen but I really don't care for MMO's and when Starfield was announced, I was excited for this. Instead, what we got was a game that is 15 years too late and is way below even a Wish version of Star Citizen. I don't need to go into what is missing in this game. Everybody knows. The sad thing is, we will probably never see a game that Starfield could have been on the single player paradigm.
The real frustrating thing is they didn't freaking include the common players guide to help explain how to operate the game properly. Basically excluded it's mandatory tutorial that they have with every other games.
I agree that some portions of the game are poorly explained, especially regarding the base building and the ship building or ship stealth. Usually in different games you get to experience a mechanic firsthand in a tutorial section and then you're allowed to use it freely everywhere else, but in Starfield's case, 90% of the time you're left with a text box and that's about it. I really didn't like this aspect of the game either.
Ah, thanks for the video. I needed a refresher about this game. I wouldn't call the engine "powerful", maybe "open" or "flexible" but not very powerful. It's rooted in a twenty year old tech that is basically unfixable and the more crap they add, the worse, or rather, unstable, it get's. Going 64 bit was the best upgrade so far but it basically only allowed them mitigate potential modern times issues while still swipe bugs and junky scripts under the rug (that's basically why there are so many loading screens).
The creation engine is just very limited in general. If they had an absurd amount of engine devs I'm sure it could be somehow brought up to modern standards but they don't have that. Bethesda should drop the engine for their AAA titles. Focus more on the narrative and polish instead of helplessly trying to fix the engine. It's a cool engine for sandbox style games with it's item physics but that just isn't very valuable in a story based RPG
Their sole reason for not changing the engine is how versatile and modifiable it is... I wish they create something new entirely, as I don't necessarily think switching to Unreal Engine would be the best solution either. They can have a modern space to work with, better technologies, while allowing modders to change their games. I really don't like the idea of releasing a game in Starfield's state and leaving it to modders to fix it because "Creation Engine" is that powerful...
In my opinion, waiting for the first major expansion is the best idea as there would be a lot of changes. Stay tuned as I might talk about them in the future!
I'm really glad that you liked the game! Hopefully the first expansion and the addition of quality of life improvements would make it more enjoyable as well!
This was my experiance, I was so hyped even took time off from work, 5-10hrs in to the game and I was extremely bored. I replayed FO4 leading up the SF release and I felt like playing FO4 more while I was playing SF.
Nah, they got me. I was a pre order and after a couple a days I was like “not for me” but I picked it back up last month and it’s all I’ve been playing. Don’t know if it was a bug but initially no non constellation missions would trigger and now I’m flooded with stuff to do. Anyway for better or worse it does the bethesda thing for me anyway and I want to see where the series goes. I want more of this universe.
A Bethesda RPG with no exploration. A space game with no space travel. Or aliens. A thousand planets with no variation. This game had so much potential and it was all wasted.
As someone who forced themself to finish the game this week. Yeah, its underwhelming. Empty planets and the neverending loading screens take away from everything. Even the main planets are just a single city. The most fleshed out section was the pirate side story.
The history of starfield would have been a better game than what we actually got. And the actual story would have been better as DLC content. In which, Shattered Space would have been a good title for it.
How much of this game have you actually played? Like the part where you claim there isnt a lot of lore? It is less than other titles but consider fallout had 2 games before BGS got ahold of it and elder scrolls has been expanded upon by MANY games, look starfield isnt perfect but you like many others are looking at it through a smaller lense than can only expand with expansions and more games and thats not anyone's fault its just one thing over time that will change.
I have played the right amount and finished every major content the game had to offer. I have played enough games in the past couple of decades to know Starfield's shallow lore is not because of the lack of proper books or sequel/prequels, it's exactly because of a lackluster writing. Sure, having lots of books, movies, TV shows, and games would make the lore expand further, but that's not the excuse you would want to use for Starfield's case. There are examples of newer games (New IPs) from other developers releasing with a massive lore attached to them and no one claims that "hey that game had tons of books prior to its release so that's why it's amazing", no. The developers of the said games (Elden Ring for example) knew who to hire to write them a proper lore so they could expand upon their work.
Thanks for watching! Yeah, you could artificially make the combat harder by making enemies spongier and yourself weaker, but the horrible ai and the lack of depth in combat doesn't cut it imo.
Loading screens affect gameplay, but all games have a loading screen. The problem is how they made the loading screen. The secret is to trick the player into appearing to have no loading screen. But this probably happened largely because Bethesda does not have this expertise. All her games have loading screens. The only one that disguises it very well is Doom, but it's a linear game. which has everything very well scripted on the map. Don't get me wrong, it's not an excuse but rather the reason they haven't resolved the loading screen issue.
You are 100% correct. The thing with loading screens is that most other developers have learned a way to mask loading screens with smart map design, cinematic/ set piece driven sections, cutscenes, and etc. But Bethesda is still using the old and outdated loading screens for almost every interaction. This is one of the reasons I called the game outdated.
There is no such thing as outdated game or game design. You can pick up and play the original, non-Unity, Daggerfall, and it still plays quite good, definitely better than Stratfield, despite the latter trying to do many things Daggerfall did before. Why? Because Daggerfall's systems have enough synergy to create a total that is more than sum of its parts. Starfield is built without said synergy. It's systems do not work to boost each other, they actively interfere and diminish each other.
I agree with your statement, however let me put it this way. When I mention the outdated game design, what I meant was in contrast to the recent more modern RPGs (exclusively talking about Action RPGs, not CRPGs like Baldur's Gate 3) Starfield lacks all the advancements that the game's designers should've implemented. There are tons of fetch quests, Devs still can't create a dynamic world where your choices have ripple effect with consequence on everything, and the writing is still in the exact same style that it was 20 years ago...
Starfield vs Destiny movement Better movement mechanics goes to destiny Starfield vs Destiny Shooting Destiny has perfected shooting mechanics Starfield vs Destiny visuals Again I'd give it to destiny Starfield vs Destiny ship design Starfield building ships beats destiny but destiny has cooler looking ships Starfield vs Destiny Enemies The enemies in Starfield are alright but the enemies in Destiny are hard to forget facing they even feel better to shoot😂 Starfield vs Destiny traversing Starfield walking & running is an old mechanic but climbing is new to Bethesda games and feels so yr 2000 and late but a better upgraded fallout 4/76 is better than nothing an upgrade is an upgrade, but Destiny movement is is more fluid if your dying it's because u suck 😂 I just wish companies would collaborate with each other as far as design weaknesses like how Bethesda asked ID software the ppl who made 2016 Doom reboot to help with the shooting mechanics todd Howard could have used that same phone to call Bungie and as for help with the shooting mechanics or called Sean Murray of hello games and asked for help implementing planet to space ship traversal Starfield has a moon buggy coming who the hell wants to ride a moon buggy when we've riden Dream brey tech 9 sparrows in destiny or hover bikes in star wars or F-zero vehicles I'm completely baffled I did this comparison because both games are described as space operas but one just does some things better than the other but they could both learn ah thing or two from one another😂
That's an interesting comparison! Companies collaborating with each other on making things is always a great thing to witness. It's also amazing to see how the different studios working under Bethesda Softworks would help each other (similar to ID and BGS). I wish now that BGS is owned by Xbox, they could get help from their Xbox Game Studios as well. We have to wait and see how The Elder Scrolls 6 is going to turn out, but I really wish Obsidian could lend them a hand...
Whats more outdated is making a whiny Anti Starfield video, MONTHS after the hate bandwagon was relevant. We have a hundred vids like this already from other people who are too clueless to understand the game and need cheap clicks for their boring channel.
Why so hurt over a whiney video of a random channel disliking a video game you adore? If you had watched the video, you'd have known that your entire argument is false, but thanks for engaging with my content, I guess?
Yep, it's understandable. In fact, I have the same concerns about TES6 as well. Especially when we look at what other developers are currently bringing to the competition, the future might seem a little worrying for TES if Bethesda is not planning any changes to its core design philosophy. It's time for BGS to step up their game this time.
@@TheTrueSeal I agree, while I know Fallout 76 made a comeback that doesn't change how it started nor does it excuse how it ripped people off, plus with how long their taking making it the hype will be to the level of cyber punk...and well we know how that turn out, there's no way it live up to it
@@JeremyB381 Totally agree with you. The way BGS handled 76 and Starfield's marketing was straight up hiding details - or let's just say, lying - to people.
IMO this is a very realistic expectation. Who knows what might happen in these years but I'm certain that there will be tons of insane mods that would overhaul the experience drastically.
@@TheTrueSeal oh i agree with that for sure, but for bethesda to actually make it good, will take a long ass time is what i meant. look, it took almost 4 years for cyberpunk to fix their broken ass game, and it was even more broken than starfield, but the game had some far higher potential than Bethesda's games, so it's possible that it will take bethesda the same length of time as cyberpunk, but how many years did it take them to actually make FO76 worth while? i mean i remember that game being literally dumped in literal trash cans at every GameStop for months on end. now i suppose it's playable, i personally can't get into online games i just don't like them, i prefer my single player games, especially my single player bethesda games, but starfield has a very long way to go. also i don't think Todd is correct, he often uses the excuse that it's faster to make assets in the creation engine, but for some reason it takes them more than 6 months to get event the most basic features into the game, why do they always appear to drag their asses so damn slowly if they engine makes things so quick? i have worked with their engine before as i dabbled in the modding and it's never as clear cut as Todd suggests, there is a lot of painstakingly annoying issues with the creation engine. i will agree it's great for modding, but it's very lacking in what is possible in the engine by itself, most often for the good mods they are only good due to a lot of other assets and programs that unlock the game's engine to reach higher goals, so it's not just the engine that's so great, it's these other programs that make it better.
@@5226-p1e Well said! Cyberpunk is a good example. While that game had its fundamentals ready, it lacked some serious polish. Sure, there were a lot of cut content (metro system, dog town, unfinished systems, etc.) but the core gameplay was totally enjoyable, and a few stability updates would make it work just fine even without the promised features (not that I'm defending CDPR in any way because I actually think what they did truly sucked) Starfield has almost everything in its package ready (Sure, there are some QoL features missing that they could've implement in the game since day 1 but by and large it's still an acceptable package) though its main problem is with the fundamentals. You can't fix some things in this game due to its scope not working very well with the technical aspects...
For the ones who bought it an didn't like it oh well 14 million disagree and love it so it really lived up to the hype don't know what this video is about
14 million loved it? That's a bold claim! That 14 million includes you, me, anyone who bought, and anyone who played it through the game pass (potentially). Aside from the fact that this game has tons of issues, disappointed a lot of people and didn't live up to expectations of many players, what would you say to prove me wrong if you didn't know about the 14 million players stat? I would actually love to hear an argument with proper reasoning.
Man, boo. Go play the update. Yall are fawning over what Skyrim was, but quickly forgot it was the fifth installment and it didn't release in the state that has garnered so much reverence. In short, give them a chance to correct it. IMO, they have with this recent update.
As shown in the video, I played the game after installing both major updates. While I did say that the updates definitely improved some aspects of the game (and the future updates will continue this trend), some core issues that are deeply rooted in the technical aspects of Starfield will probably never go away, however waiting for the shattered space and more mods would probably be a better choice for anyone who's still unsure of playing the game or not. I am expecting Bethesda to fix this game (and can't wait to see its redemption arc) in the long run and Todd Howard's latest interview (if it wasn't another lie) indicates that the future of this game will be bright.
I think you're confusing Starfield with Star Citizen (and even in SC you're able to buy ships with the in-game money). Starfield doesn't have a microtransaction approach, although they did recently introduce a paid quest to the game but it's far from being a MTX driven game.
@@TheTrueSeal that my internet just isn't good enough for me to have another 4 days to download it 🥴 I haven't played it yet simply because 152 gigs takes me a few days and I don't want to bog everyones internet down again so close to having done it not too long ago when I had to reinstall said game because of my external going down 🥴
Nope that's not it. It was safe, not willing to take any risks. It tried to be woke but was insultingly stereotypical instead (neava) It was grindy beyond belief, any goals you might have towards a final "build" is a multi 100 hour plan. It's just downright bad game design, even if there is some good old classic bethesda DNA deep down.
I hate the game when I first got it and didn’t play it for months. But recently I’ve been addicted to it and I don’t know why. It’s not perfect and has its problems but I’ve come around to see the good in it
Absolutely agreed. There's a hidden gem under all of that roughness that you can easily sense it when playing the game. I just can't wait for the release of some meaty mods for Starfield!
Nope, the timing is perfect. The game is receiving slight QoL updates but still has some major (and probably unresolvable) issues. The outdated mechanics and the weak writing won't go away with updates; however, the shattered space expansion has the chance to reverse some issues in its own way.
I suppose you're talking about how much mods can change the game. While I generally agree with your statement, Starfield's fundamentals are way too outdated for the year 2023. I wish they took another approach toward the game, with fewer planets and more handcrafted stuff. But then again, mods are going to turn this game upside down, however I'm not sure how to feel about the official (Bethesda made) paid mods yet.
@@TheTrueSeal think of it this way with the ridiculous amount of worlds. Each world has the potential to hold an entire modded game inside of it, and you never have to worry about it conflicting with another mod because they have 1500 other worlds to choose from for their mods. You can have the entire star wars galaxy, elder scrolls planet nirn, and the Riddick universe all in the same game with more than a thousand other possibilities.
@@KingDerek58 I understand your point and I agree with it, but aren't we paying $70 to play the vanilla game in the first place? Mods are great and I truly appreciate modders hard work, but we shouldn't ignore the base game itself.
@@TheTrueSeal The base game is very bare bones and I think Bethesda took the backlash from that to heart and have noticeably improved the base game with updates like the land vehicle still to come to further improve it. But Bethesda built the game in their own words to be played a decade from now, I think mods and making their game as mod friendly as possible was always the goal they had to make that happen.
@@KingDerek58 Yeah, I think that was their original plan and tbf I'm totally fine with playing an ultra modded version of the game a couple of years from now. I just wish the vanilla experience was handled way better than what its current state.
I was highly sceptical about CP 2077 and its setting, yet today it is a remarkably good game. From the get go I was sceptical about Starfield ..and all my gripes about the game have been warranted. It is fascinating how a single city can be more fun and engaging than 1000s of planets.... Thank you CDPR for a good modern game. When Bethesda games said “the game has 1000 planets”, it was more of a threat than a selling point. If I ever play this game, I hope I will be able to construct an X-Wing StarFighter or a Jedi star fighter.. I see the ships looks rather industrial, no distinction between airframe types, nor any consistency . Entering into atmosphere these blocks of metal will have the aerodynamic properties of a brick.... How do you Identify differing factions in space if all the ships look like huge unaerodynamic metal blobs? You aren’t able to fly in atmosphere, you can’t take off nor land on a planet in one fluid motion, it is a set cutscene ….. If different planets had differing atmospheres with different viscosities, there could have been storms/weather effects in atmosphere that caused a challenge whilst flying… but no…. flying in atmosphere is not even a possibility….for a ‘’Space exploration game’’… So the chunky unaerodynamic metal blobs are completely irrelevant. Why give us atmospheric flight , pod-racers or speeders on a planet if they can give us inter racial relationships with NPCs. Planets closer to the nearest star could have high temperatures that causes you to become fatigued more readily, your guns and equipment overheat faster, causing you to default to a backup weapon like a knife in sticky situations. Some regions could be so hot that it causes your ships systems/engines to overheat and you crash, IF WE HAD ATMOSPHERIC FLIGHT!!! I am a pilot…not Bob the builder, I want extensive spacecraft piloting…not the boring ‘’Build your own settlement..on a barren…empty…planet..’’ You are just a Michelin man running around on empty planets. This game is incredibly disappointing. Although The Serpents Jihad sounds very interesting… There are no cool factions, just the boring mining explorers vs pirates. To me factions are paramount in importance. Is there a Naval fleet/air arm ,patrolling and fighting in border disputes? And is there a police force that patrols everything in between , to uphold a sense of law and stability in the galaxy? ..or is it just a bunch of freelance miners and pirates all the time? The factions I have thus far seen are completely unalluring to me. In an entire galaxy ...ofcourse the factions are ‘’Murica in space ‘’... ‘’Cowboy Murica in space’’ and ‘’smuggler Murica in space’’….. Oh how the divercity….. Can’t wait for the DLC: ‘’Los Angeles Murica in space.’’ …. They scan your cargo for contraband when you request landing clearance…but can you have /smuggle contraband and if scanned and detected will the authorities send spacecraft to arrest you ? I really dislike the ‘’NASA PUNK’’ setting, it is so incredibly limiting. I love space as seen in Pre Disney woke cult Star Wars, with ships that look sleek and actually capable of flight, in space and in atmosphere. With clear factions and naval/airforces/space craft such as the beautiful Naboo N1 Star Fighter, the iconic X wing, the tie fighters , the Y wings, the Epic Jedi Star fighters and all the freighter and cruiser classes. Distinct designs that are tied to differing factions. Will Starfield have any such factions with recognizable spacecraft? At one point I saw a ship jump to lightspeed with a planet right in front of it… I was disappointed when the ship did not collide with the planet and disintegrate as a result thereof. Talking ballistics, I hope there will be some planets that have more intense gravitational pull. Causing projectile ballistic drop to be way more severe. Forcing you to compensate accordingly, taking distance, calibre and humidity into account. After all that, I highly doubt this will be the case. I have a horrid feeling that this game will just be vast… boring …..empty…space … separated by cutscenes. I am losing more and more enthusiasm for this game. Vast amounts of ‘’space’’...but an extremely limited amount of ..imagination. Imagionationless dev comment:''The Apollo astronauts went to the moon, it was barren and empty and they certainly weren't bored.'' Yes, but the Apollo astronauts had to guide their small dingy of a Lunar lander using maths, gravity and centripetal force; if they failed ,they would die. Each time I land an aircraft IRL , I get an immense sense of thrill, adrenaline and satisfaction because I know that if I don't succeed, I can die. To conduct the exact same mundane landing on a flight sim on pc does absolutely nothing to me, you can't even hope to compare the two experiences. ''The Apollo astronauts certainly weren't bored.'' Yeah and with Starfield you press a button to watch a boring repeatative cutscene...WOW PILOTING!!! Piloting an actual Lunar lander and watching a cutscene are WORLDS APART in comparison. Using such an excuse just shows how disconnected and imagionationless these corporate hacks truly are. New Starfield DLC. The only way the Star Field DLC trailer could have evoked even the slightest hint of excitement in me, is if that derelict space station was ID'd as "The Nostromo" and the trailer slowly morphed into Alien isolation 2...
Thank you for taking the time for writing this comprehensive comment, I truly agree with every single point you have brought and don't think at least the devs can fix this game. So, we gotta wait and see if it's possible for modders to bring a fraction of these stuff to the game...
What kills me is that an ENTIRE TEAM of devs thought the temples were a good idea.
I mean did they really not test them? Even the first one gets boring half way through, let alone the rest...
I put 20 hours into the game and I just couldn't find myself enjoying it no matter what. I have no idea what to blame it on but it just felt bland
The soulless world, outdated mechanics, and tons of loading screens could be some of the reasons you couldn't enjoy Starfield!

I'm guessing you didn't bother watching the video and that's why you didn't understand why I'm unsatisfied with the game.
@TruePhoque I watched it and did not agree with the points made. In addition, the points made were on the same lines as many other TH-cam reviewers.
Now to your counter arguments, I have already answered all of them in the video, but I will write it down and answer some parts again:
City design: The capital city of the settled systems, aka the milky way galaxy, the universe's major trade location, military, science advancements and etc. is in the size of a small district in almost any other open world game (I have used Cyberpunk 2077 in the video as an example).
"Hey bro, let's not kill everyone, okay?" 😂
Thanks for the endless loading screens, too. Can't wait for your next masterpiece where we load screens just to open our inventory.
That part about the dialogues always gets me, lmao.
Brother I need res duty!
"Exciting as a parking lot" killed me.😂😂😂
Very unrealistic that getting shot while wearing a space suit doesn't immediately kill you on some planets... Too many load screens, terrible plot, dialogue and the temples are so boring and repetitive!
Well said. The plot and loadings simply killed Starfield for me...
Yeah bethesda’s writing is off these days. The millennial humor and cliche plot points kill me

Perfectly said. I 100% agree with you.
I totally agree. The engine really holds this game back in ways that are pretty frustrating.
Biggest thing for me was no aliens. Even fallout and elder scrolls had more than just humans.
Yep, I understand. They should've either fully embraced the nasa punk theme or went fully sci-fi. the in-between feeling doesn't work that well...

Totally agree with you. Bethesda missed the mark with Starfield....

@@justxjoshin I'm really glad that you enjoyed the video! Also, hope you have a good time watching the channel's content.
The history of starfield would have been a better game than what we actually got.
And the actual story would have been better as DLC content. In which, Shattered Space would have been a good title for it.
100% Agreed. Imagine if the game took place in those breathtaking moments and always held a filter of uncertainty about the space over our eyes...
I love the game, raiding human enemy factions like Crimsons, Varuuns, Space... and others.
That's awesome! Hopefully The Shattered Space expansion would make the game even more enjoyable for you!

Its the Far Cry 6 of Bethesda games
That's one of the best ways to describe this game! It really does feel that way...
Starfield vs Destiny movement
Better movement mechanics goes to destiny
Starfield vs Destiny Shooting
Destiny has perfected shooting mechanics
Starfield vs Destiny visuals
Again I'd give it to destiny
Starfield vs Destiny ship design
Starfield building ships beats destiny but destiny has cooler looking ships
Starfield vs Destiny Enemies
The enemies in Starfield are alright but the enemies in Destiny are hard to forget facing they even feel better to shoot😂
Starfield vs Destiny traversing
Starfield walking & running is an old mechanic but climbing is new to Bethesda games and feels so yr 2000 and late but a better upgraded fallout 4/76 is better than nothing an upgrade is an upgrade, but Destiny movement is is more fluid if your dying it's because u suck 😂
I just wish companies would collaborate with each other as far as design weaknesses like how Bethesda asked ID software the ppl who made 2016 Doom reboot to help with the shooting mechanics todd Howard could have used that same phone to call Bungie and as for help with the shooting mechanics or called Sean Murray of hello games and asked for help implementing planet to space ship traversal
Starfield has a moon buggy coming who the hell wants to ride a moon buggy when we've riden Dream brey tech 9 sparrows in destiny or hover bikes in star wars or F-zero vehicles I'm completely baffled
I did this comparison because both games are described as space operas but one just does some things better than the other but they could both learn ah thing or two from one another😂
That's an interesting comparison!
This game is more relatable and playable maybe in the year 2500 when we all live in space and eating Chunks!!!
haha, that was a good one!
Whats more outdated is making a whiny Anti Starfield video, MONTHS after the hate bandwagon was relevant.
We have a hundred vids like this already from other people who are too clueless to understand the game and need cheap clicks for their boring channel.

This actually has me worried for TES6, Fallout 76 was a disaster, this game was a dud so what does that mean going forward.
Yep, it's understandable. In fact, I have the same concerns about TES6 as well. Especially when we look at what other developers are currently bringing to the competition, the future might seem a little worrying for TES if Bethesda is not planning any changes to its core design philosophy. It's time for BGS to step up their game this time.

oh i agree with that for sure, but for bethesda to actually make it good, will take a long ass time is what i meant.
look, it took almost 4 years for cyberpunk to fix their broken ass game, and it was even more broken than starfield, but the game had some far higher potential than Bethesda's games, so it's possible that it will take bethesda the same length of time as cyberpunk, but how many years did it take them to actually make FO76 worth while?
i mean i remember that game being literally dumped in literal trash cans at every GameStop for months on end.
now i suppose it's playable, i personally can't get into online games i just don't like them, i prefer my single player games, especially my single player bethesda games, but starfield has a very long way to go.
also i don't think Todd is correct, he often uses the excuse that it's faster to make assets in the creation engine, but for some reason it takes them more than 6 months to get event the most basic features into the game, why do they always appear to drag their asses so damn slowly if they engine makes things so quick?
i have worked with their engine before as i dabbled in the modding and it's never as clear cut as Todd suggests, there is a lot of painstakingly annoying issues with the creation engine.
i will agree it's great for modding, but it's very lacking in what is possible in the engine by itself, most often for the good mods they are only good due to a lot of other assets and programs that unlock the game's engine to reach higher goals, so it's not just the engine that's so great, it's these other programs that make it better.
@@5226-p1e Well said! Cyberpunk is a good example. While that game had its fundamentals ready, it lacked some serious polish. Sure, there were a lot of cut content (metro system, dog town, unfinished systems, etc.) but the core gameplay was totally enjoyable, and a few stability updates would make it work just fine even without the promised features (not that I'm defending CDPR in any way because I actually think what they did truly sucked)
Starfield has almost everything in its package ready (Sure, there are some QoL features missing that they could've implement in the game since day 1 but by and large it's still an acceptable package) though its main problem is with the fundamentals. You can't fix some things in this game due to its scope not working very well with the technical aspects...

It was a reskinned Fallout 4 with Dragon Shouts. Lite mechanics & shallow skill mechanics.
I've seen this comparison a lot lately and I can't say it's wrong...

Same that happen to me as well
@@TheTrueSeal agreed. And I’m very hopeful for the shattered space dlc. Bethesda usually always does good with dlcs so I have hope
@@KingCrimson68 Yep, Far Harbour and Dragonborn was some of the best DLCs they have ever released!
I dont think the timing of this video is good (or at least the title of the video). Starfield is currently getting much better
Nope, the timing is perfect. The game is receiving slight QoL updates but still has some major (and probably unresolvable) issues. The outdated mechanics and the weak writing won't go away with updates; however, the shattered space expansion has the chance to reverse some issues in its own way.
I think people who can't see that the potential in starfield is literally endless are very short sighted.
If different planets had differing atmospheres with different viscosities, there could have been storms/weather effects in atmosphere that caused a challenge whilst flying… but no…. flying in atmosphere is not even a possibility….for a ‘’Space exploration game’’…
So the chunky unaerodynamic metal blobs are completely irrelevant.
I am a pilot…not Bob the builder, I want extensive spacecraft piloting…not the boring ‘’Build your own settlement..on a barren…empty…planet..’’
You are just a Michelin man running around on empty planets.
This game is incredibly disappointing.
Although The Serpents Jihad sounds very interesting…
There are no cool factions, just the boring mining explorers vs pirates.
Imagionationless dev comment:''The Apollo astronauts went to the moon, it was barren and empty and they certainly weren't bored.''
Yes, but the Apollo astronauts had to guide their small dingy of a Lunar lander using maths, gravity and centripetal force; if they failed ,they would die.
