  • As the sun began to rise over the shores of ANZAC Cove in Gallipoli, Turkey on 25th April 2013, approximately 10,000 people gathered together to pause and reflect at the ANZAC Cove Dawn Service. Commemorating the 98th Anniversary of the ANZACs landing in Gallipoli in 1915, the service was a chance for Australian and New Zealanders attending to remember all those who have been lost in the service of their nation. Australia's Federation Guard provided support to the service in the form of a catafalque party with New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) members, whilst musical support was provided by the Royal Australian Navy Band, an Australian Army Piper and Air Force Bugler. At the conclusion of the service, attendees made their way up the slopes of Gallipoli to attend the Australian Memorial Service at the Lone Pine Memorial.

and we never hated our "enemy" the ANZACS they still feel sorry about the invasion of turkey... a aussie react: We attacked them and called them: thebeasts, the hun, but they where just people...:(. they where just defending their country, that will feel like when aus. gets invaded, we would defended too, the turks were brave to defend their country and still didnt hate us... :( beautiful words

"Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives... you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours... You the mothers who sent their sons from far away countries wipe away your tears. Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well." M. Kemal Atatürk

I have forgotten my name and my rank,i have lost my dog-tags and my gun,my boots long gone and my uniform in tatters,i am wondering in the desert trying to find my way back home.
I have left with no family and friends to leave a bunch of flowers on my grave and wipe my tombstone clean for i have no grave.
Only odd tired nightingales stop by and sing a song of sorrow. So all i do is to feed the wild poppies with my flesh and colour them dark red with my blood, and if you see an odd pink one, well,, it has been nearly 100 years since i shook the hands of my brothers in arm and saw them charging and jumping over my dead body.
Promise me lad next time on ANZAC day to buy yourself a red poppy and pin it proudly on you jacket close to your heart for all to see,and put the palm of your right hand on it and say "Lets not forget" say it load ""LETS NOT FORGET"" those that were fallen and left behind, those that have no grave and no tombstones, those like me who are called """UNKNOWN SOLDIERS""
With deepest respect and sorrow in the centenary of the first world war to all who were fallen and never came home regardless of their nationalities, because they were all SOLDIERS.

After hearing a few of the stories, there was a Little likeness between us even before aussie and turk faced of. The turks sounded like they were as much larakins as our own blokes lol. I hope turks can understand, that the aussies are a strange breed. if you cant knock ya m8, if ya dont have a drink with a guy after a bar brawl....yer not aussie. I think this is what brought turks closer to us. Its just a basic humanity after suffering. It is only right.
