    I am a dad using my son's TH-cam channel and I found this video. Bro! Do you realize you just saved thousands if not millions of producers a ton of time with this video? My jaw literally dropped watching you explain the whole thing. You know how many people spend thousands for plugins that they don't need just because they/we(including me at number 1 of the list) don't know what we are doing? You are amazing, man! Subbing with my own account to you! Thanks so much for this!!!

    This is really, really enlightening. The logic amp and cab simulators seem to really need a massive amount of massaging. I used to struggle a lot with this crispy top end that was really hard to get out - whereas if I just put a TSE x50 or something on a track, the default setting is like 80% of the way to 'a decent heavy guitar tone'. I wonder if it's because the cabinet simulator isn't an IR loader - most amp sims these days just use cabinet IRs and that makes a huge difference.

    Excellent video, just a curiosity to ask: why do you use a DI before the audio interface, instead of directly using the instrument input of the audio interface? What is the advantage? Congratulations again and thanks also for your template. Keep it up

    • @JeremyFoxMusic
      @JeremyFoxMusic  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I actually don’t anymore. At the time I was experimenting with different configurations, trying to find what gave me the absolutely best and cleanest DI signal. Since then, I’ve found that the DI box is just not necessary in most situations. The only time I might use a DI box nowadays is if the signal coming from the instrument is too hot for whatever audio interface I might be using. In this case, it’s helpful because it allows reducing the signal before it hits the interface. But yeah, I rarely use a DI box these days.

    I don't get where you get the room tracks from MIDI drum programmer. Like I usually add Drummer, convert it to MIDI, edit, and done. You have a room A and B? I saw those options in the drummer there, but... how did you get that on tracks? You have overhead tracks as well... this is programmed drums, I don't get where the overheads came from. I don't get where the room tracks came from.

    Super professionally done. I’m not used to complicated guitar chains so I’m sort of confused on how to record with the 2 panned channel strips, do you record one and paste it into both tracks? Thanks!

    • @JeremyFoxMusic
      @JeremyFoxMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! No, the two panned channel strips are meant to be two separate takes. Meaning, you record a complete guitar track twice, one for each the left channel and one for the right. This is what helps give your mix that wide stereo sound.

    • @JeremyFoxMusic

      I do this because I usually have other buses like “Vocals”, “FX”, etc that sum in the main bus. That’s where I can then do whatever is necessary to ensure things are sitting together nicely.

      Hey bruv .. if you are tracking, you aren't mixing yet. Now you can mess with sounds and whatever, but it's usually this order... Learning from Joey Sturgis.
      Pre pro: (Organizing and solidifying writing, arrangements, tempo and overall sound for song )
      Tracking: high quality takes, high quality playing, new strings ect... Try and cut the best, most mix ready tones possible. The best producers have songs that sound good before mixing even starts.
      Editing: finish ALL EDITING!
      Finalize all writing, fx (explosions, bass drops) bounce tracks to audio files. Try and eliminate as much midi instruments as possible... Obviously some may be needed for drum samples or whatever...
      Organize the session, color code, ect
      Start basic, broad stroke mixing on tracks, then bring in your buss processing... Everyone mixes into buss processing... Mix boyo

    • @leondohrman887
      @leondohrman887 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rickneibauer1 preach! I do try and follow these guidelines already. Although, I do find myself getting carried away with trying to mix like half the track before I finish recording certain things (sometimes keys, guitar lead overdubs, noise, or feedback swells etc…)
      I am working on having more discipline so thanks for the input. 🤘

    I'm trying to track using your template as a starting point but have latency no matter the I/O size. Running a pretty diesel IMac so not sure how to track using this?

    • @JeremyFoxMusic
      @JeremyFoxMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would start by freezing as many tracks as possible. If you ever need to make changes to them, just unfreeze, make the changes, and freeze again. This will greatly reduce the load on your system. Other than that, try turning on Low Latency Mode. That will disabled the plugins using the most cpu while it’s turned on. You can turn it on while tracking and turn off while mixing. Hopes that helps.

  • @riders.9595

    I have a question here if anyone can give me some help. I'm getting some pretty serious input latency when using this template. I've done some Googling on the issue but haven't found anything that resolves my problem except putting it in "low latency mode" but that kills a lot of the sound that this template creates. I am fairly new to Logic and don't really know how to fix this on my own.

    • @JeremyFoxMusic
      @JeremyFoxMusic  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The likely cause is the level of processing being done in the template and your system not being able to process everything in real-time. I personally use “Low latency mode” whenever I’m tracking because I don’t care about the processing while tracking. After I’m done tracking, I’ll turn off the low latency mode and continue mixing.
      So I wouldn’t expect an answer that’s going to allow you to continue hearing all processing being done while also using input monitoring. It’s just too much for a lot of systems to handle.
