- We return to the flood plane tree job to see the home that was built. then down to see my old friend , 'Indian', who is almost ready to stand the totem pole

Sounds crazy, but i successfully treated beetles in a live oak that I really wanted to save with a can of carburetor cleaner. It's been three years, the tree's still alive, and the beetles never came back. They were in it super bad on the bottom few feet of the stump, I have no doubt they would have killed it if left to their own devices.

1500 years! Just to put that into perspective for some that is around 521 when that tree started growing. That is crazy when you think about it like that. Tree's are amazing. Thanks for the great videos Buckin'.
In my area, white ash are being decimated by the emerald ash borer (jewel beetle). Lost an old one last year, at least a 10 foot stump. Thankfully the bugs are leaving the saplings alone.

You take a 2" puck off but before its removed you use a 2 part epoxy on the end so you don't have any voids, then on the same side sand and polish it and coat that side with epoxy and polish it that way the grain structure should pop out at you and you can do a time line of events on it.
My bet is this tree was a 4" dia tree or larger when our calander started at Christ birth. That trees true age could be 2k years or more old.
I've got ceder lumber in my garage ive used on a woodworking project. Its great for outdoor use.
A wall plack would look nice inside the stadium.

The only thing better than that house construction is if the top part was a type of river barge ... [NOT a house 'boat']. The barge design will easily float the weight of a properly insulated home. Then the bottom part becomes a sort of mooring platform. It can be done ... but the barge companies I talked with had been in operation so long they became 'institutionalized' and see no need to consider a new product. There is an opportunity for a venture capitalist and a go getter. ALL the flood plains could become habitable ... not stick stilt ... but mooring platforms with completely floatable barge homes. The creative artistry involved for architects is disguising the 'boxy modular river barge construction... WELL within their capability.

We had bark beetles here in California 10 years ago or so and they were just destroying beautiful trees in big bear mountain area. Unfortunately we had a forest fire and because the trees were dead and dried out it just that much more fuel for the fire. The only positive part of that is the beetles were destroyed thanks to the fire.
Various types of bark beetle have wiped out trees all through North America. We have been dealing with them in WI for a while.
G'day Mr Rubish, we have termites that consume the heartwood of certain trees by spewing acid to dissolve the fibre,, the outer part is to dense and a beetle would break its teeth (mandables) trying to chew the densest wood on Earth and a wood pecker would need tungsten tips and Tylenol 😜👍🇦🇺.
