"Could you kill someone"
"We could but we wouldn't"
"Ahh but you could"
this smells like propaganda, because when Kennedy asked him if he could pull his """personal file""" and he said he technically could but wouln't, they actually did do that, expect it wasn't specific files, it was a whole bunch of their user's data which they sold to Cambridge analitica. Listen, the senators here are confused and asking questions that are out of their depth, but this video makes it look like they're all stupid and that Zuck didn't do anything wrong and it's stupid to even question that, which is absolutely NOT the case.
This smells so much like propaganda it's insane that people here seem to be focusing solely on the fact that old people aren't great with new technology.
@@dLzzzgaming it's not so much propaganda, but more so that these people in power did not take any time to do any research on the topic, and made fools out of themselves. The video is for the entertainment and horror of the public.
they're incapable of comprehending technology which makes them incapable of dealing with the crook featured on the video
dude even said he doesn't sell user data and the idiots here eating all that up lmfao
@@Lucas-jq6kk they are obviously forcing him (or trying) to let Zuckerberg give straightforward answers, so they can use it as evidence against him when he is guilty of said crimes.

The first woman sounded like she didn’t even know her own question

True, yeah.
@@el_precich Nope that was valid too
@@tackier52 valid but based on ignorance, anyone with experience in digital advertisement knows no data is sold, rented or given away, and neither do we need it because what we care is reaching the right people and for that we need the channels (websites/social media) and not just the raw data.
I couldnt care less what or who You are, what I care as advertiser is when and what a pool of people with similar interests as what I believe is my ideal customer is doing online so I can show ads of My product to them at the exact moment they are most interested in it.
@@tackier52 Not valid at all lol - If in the agreement some data are to be shared with third parties, then you give your consent to that and FB isn’t responsible anymore. If I call my travel agency and I book a flight ticket, and they tell me that my consent to share my information to the hotel is required (to which I agree), then the hotel is now responsible for this information - My travel agency can’t do anything to « claw it back ». At some point I can ask my travel agency to delete their file on me, which they will do, but they can’t do it for third parties (humanly impossible to do that with the current technology anyway). Same can be applied anywhere
I think the question is just highlighted because it led to "but you rent data"... which is just a nonsense idea
This is an absolutely top tier example of low intelligence in high places , the older I get the more I realise that all those people in positions of power and authority who we once thought must be almost infinitely more qualified and intelligent than us are just ordinary people who stepped on the right rung of the right ladder at the right time , and almost always with a little help to get them there
Say all you want but once they step in and deal with problems specific to thier field of expertise they are in essence unreplacable by anymore even less competent than them
@@lordlopikong6940 This is such an important distinction. There is definitely a gap in understanding when it comes to technology that can have very negative affects when it comes to making policies.
But that doesn't mean these people are stupid. It means they're not knowledgeable in this field. And it probably means, with the way technology is shaping our world, we probably need to update our methods of governing as well. Not that these people are stupid.

Tbh I think this was the only sane question in this video.
What's wrong with the question? I thought it was obvious what she was asking. How many unique data "categories" or "data points" does FB track per user?
Deafharp Facebook stores everything you’ve ever posted to it, every like and comment you’ve ever done.
Basically any action you take on the platform is stored somewhere.
“How many data categories” doesn’t make any sense, the question would have to be more specific
It makes perfect sense to ask how many and what features are stored and for how long. What you are talking about - likes and posts - is the bare minimum to operate facebook and not really interesting.
@@PennyHerbst I've done these things myself and only on a small scale. For certain items I had about 20-30 categories, for others less. Even if the woman specified the answer to a specific field, it's probably hard to answer without looking it up. For facebook it's probably hundreds and hundreds of categories and I'm not even talking about categories that are made up by computers. If you work with machine learning, it could be that you can't even say how many there are, because a human wouldn't know how they function and because you don't know how they overlap.

The first question is absolutely collect. Data collected generates data points. Facebook does collect a lot of information and generate a database with data points. Most of those questions are actually relevant to transparency into Facebook. Facebook DID, INDEED allowed companies like Cambridge Analytics to collect data from users indefinitely, even if you delete your account. You technically can search an individual, which is actually preventable by companies. In SERASA or AMEX, if a user searches for any names in the system, they will be stopped immediately.
If you don't wanna answer that question, just say "Idk what does that mean?".
