They're talking about while the president is in office. The Constitution clearly spells out the process of prosecution while in office. The president must be removed from office through impeachment before being criminally prosecuted. It's simple.

The question attorneys should ask is if the President ordered the murder of a Supreme Court justice should he be immune from prosecution? Not advocating murder but just saying the question should hit home with the justices on the danger of giving politicians above the law.

If the Supreme Court makes a new law that makes a president immune from criminal prosecution, why stop there? Why not make the vice president immune? Why not give all the justices immunity? Why not give senators and congress persons immunity?
SCOTUS should ask Trump to cite any law that provides for immunity of any former President from criminal prosecution. If it is non- existent, they should not waste time to enact new laws- the preserve of the Congress.

Immunity only applies for acts done in the course of duty. He is not immune if it is outside of his course of duty. Immunity also says if is a law that is violated he is not immune. Official act does not mean an act done as President. Official act means if it is in his job description or line of duty. The Presdent has a criteria of what his job description is. If he acted outside of that he is not immune.

Make sure you do not vote for ANY Republican for Congress. We must have DEM control of the House, and 2/3 DEM majority in the Senate because the Republicans have proven they are incapable of putting the country before their political ambitions. Exactly I don't understand why judges don't have to retire at 70 that is still longer than the public have to retire at an earlier age. Yes they are supposed to have more experience about the law but that is not a given, looking at Thomas, Alito, Kavanaugh and Gorsuch four judges who have been on the supreme court for over a decade. Why are they allowed to be there so long? This court should be changed by at least 50% giving new presidents the chance to have a court that might have a similar outlook as that president.
As we can all see that Trump loaded this supreme court to give him the chance NOW to be given immunity for presidential acts. His lawyer has been arguing for Trump to be able to assassinate his political opponents who don't agree with him. That could mean that if he doesn't like them or even agree with them they would be killed. It would also mean that he could take over the country without an election.
Either trump get immunity and thereby Biden can order the military on Trump and Clarence Thomas, or Trump is not Immune... It's a win win for democraty.
I can no longer count Trump's Supreme Court to follow precedent, the rule of law or even basic common sense. God help us all!

Under Bush, Democrats refused to approve judges so Republican threatened to remove the long standing 60 vote requirement. Democrats whined and cried like children about it so naturally, Republicans backed down. Under Obama, Republicans refused to appoint judges...and Democrats DID remove the 60 vote requirement (aka "the Nuclear Option"). The pendulum swings and that decision is what allowed Republicans appoint the justices they did and why judges are now more polarized and less centrist. Good job. Wait until Democrats realize that THEIR candidate can...and hopefully will, be subjected to ridiculous local and state persecution for election interference and character assassination in partisan courts.

I think the not-so-supreme court is doing several things...
1. They are twisting themselves into knots to assist trump and STALL.
2. They are causing a delay such that some of trump's trials cannot/will not occur before the 2024 election.
3. By not handing down a decision before the prez election, they are rolling the dice to see which candidate wins.
4. If Biden wins, they will rule against immunity because they don't want anyone that is not trump to have immunity. They will TRY to pass this off as being non-partisan in an effort to regain some of the credibility they have lost (don't be fooled! It would be just a BS show, until the next R is elected).
5. If trump wins, only then will they grant prez immunity to forever protect their favored prez.
This tactic is a win-win for the scotus first and foremost, because unfortunately, that is ALL they care about first. Promoting/protecting/saving an R pres is secondary.
That's what a corrupt, immoral, unethical, biased, agenda-based, all-powerful body with seemingly unchecked power and lifetime appointments.

Federal ballot question: should SCOTUS be expanded for 1 SC Justice for each Feceral District. Make it harder for people like Trump to use it for his personal agenda. Doesn't mean loading it. Make them tell the truth. Or impeach Justices who lied at Congressional Hearings.
I am surprised that the SC did not ask; If a President did not like or agree with a ruling of the SC and decided to assassinate one or more SC Justices, would that be considered an Official Act and therefore be immune from prosecution? The idea that a President could eliminate the highest court of the land to elicit a preffered decision should have made then reject absolute immunity.
I am looking forward to having a female Chief Justice of the SCOTUS and her reaction when a chauvinistic male justice tries to interrupt her. That exchange is worth waiting to hear. This is a sad day for justice in the USA.
