  • MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell shares his own crisis of faith in the Supreme Court that he revered before the Roberts Court corrupted legal scholarship to the point where he believes the Republican justices are “just making it up” and, as Justice Elena Kagan expressed in her dissent, are violating the Constitution.

True, he used rules he made up to block Obama's nomination, but the true string pullers are Leonard Leo and the Federalist Society, backed by the BILLIONS of dark money anonymous donations allowed by the Roberts court ruling in Citizens United. Let us not forget that Neil Gorsuch's Mom is Anne Gorsuch. She was a Colorado state representative, and was part of a caucus known as the "House Crazies", because they wanted to fundamentally change government (into a far right-wing authoritarian regime). She was later the EPA administrator under Reagan, in the early 1980's, and she personally slashed that agency's budget by 22%. She also fired career employees (on her own whimsy) and hired industry puppets to cover those positions. And her legacy? Well, she became the FIRST cabinet member to ever be held in CONTEMPT of CONGRESS for illegal actions that benefited the owners of a $1.6 BILLION dollar Superfund site. Neil has an axe to grind ... and he's grinding it down to the handle ... taking it out on the citizens of the united States of America. Neil Gorsuch is not qualified to be a Supreme Court Justice. He was hand-picked by Mitch McConnell and the Federalist Society (who really aren't very 'federalist', at all) to lay waste to the U.S. justice system. He's the quintessential bull in the china shop. Or chimp with a loaded gun ... or grenade.

On my first day in Constitutional Law as a second year law student, my professor, a judge, asked the class, “What is the Constitution?” There were so many excellent answers, but each was met with a “No.” After so many good answers, the class sat baffled. Our professor finally said, “The constitution is whatever 5 out of the 9 justices say it is.” Um what? During that year, he also kept drilling us to pay attention to who made up the court at the time a decision was made. That would usually predict the outcome. And here we are with a 6-3 Court that was Frankensteined together by the Federalist Society just doing their thing.

I'll never forget the prof redefining liberal and conservative as they were in regard to legal opinions, and in studying them it became obvious the intellectual prowess of that debate. The problem with most voters... and another accomplishment of the Republican Party.... is education; to keep the public illiterate and uninformed. 20 years ago the average American read at a 9th grade level and today the average American reads the 5th grade level. A 5th grader is not going to be able to dissect a Supreme Court decision... and therein... is why I drink.

It is a gross failure on their part that they didn’t bother to check the facts being put forth by the opposition. I would think that is a basic responsibility of any lawyer. As for those that presented the bogus facts there should be consequences; although let’s face it, there rarely are.

Very moving monologue tonight, and as true as can be. Lawrence O’Donnell, you are a national treasure. Much gratitude and many blessings to you. 🙏🏼

Not as miving as Edgar Bergans new project Kevin McCarthy...this is a moving experience like Kevin buying the Ginzu knife and making sushi for Trumps stunt double the Flex seal guy who doesn't look an awful lot like Trump but has never met the My Pillow guy

Kevin is living proof that Charlie McCarthy us Trumps alter ego the Good Trump and of course Alfred E Newman his bad Trump alter ego...

"As true as can be?" Wow|! You're hopelessly lost. You allow O'Donnell lie to your face, and then congratulate him. You're why we're stuck with those two morons in the White House (Biden and Harris).

It is then up to the American public to show it supports Justice Kagan, and all who value democracy. Vote blue.

Thank you for this 'confession', Lawrence. That kind of vulnerability creates space for the rest of us to find our own courage to admit to ourselves such disturbing truths.

Thank you so much for making me realize why I have been SO upset the last six years-I've lost my faith. I've lost my faith in America and every "system" we have, thanks to the crooks .

Ikr? Keep trying to figure if there's anything we can do. So far nada. Don't like gloom and doom, but hope some scholar can do SOMETHING!

america has to be willing to right this wrong. unfortunately, history has shown she's not very willing to fix her mistakes.

Lawrence, your sincerity, passion and painful insight deeply touched me. You have my deepest respect. I am not an American! I am watching from South Africa, and am deeply disturbed about the situation in the USA. It has dire implications for the whole world!
