Very good video. Thank you for sharing this video with us. I think this is fascinating to learn about these classic shows. Thank you for a great video and keep up the great work.
Check out "The Purple Room", an episode of the Boris Karloff anthology series, "Thriller" that aired October 25, 1960. The "Psycho" house is prominently featured (and only five months after the movie was released!)
It's certainly not beyond show producers to put little jokes and tributes in episodes. I remember a Criminal Minds episode where they are bribing a homeless guy for information with a Nutter Butter. of course after they give it to him he asks," do you have another?" Which recalls the old advert for the Nutter butter cookies. I don't know how ole you have to be to catch that one, but I am sure that there are a gazillion little things that I don't catch. Thanks for another fun video.
I've got another one (or more, really). In Murder She Wrote, there are a couple of episodes where she has Hurd Hatfield, who had starred with her in "The Picture of Dorian Gray" back in the 1940's. In another episode, Angela Lansbury plays the additional role as Jessica's cousin in London. The character is a show girl and sings a song in the episode. It's the same song that she sang in the Dorian Gray film some 40 years earlier.
🦅👁Rick strikes again! I used to watch this show with my family back in the day. We watched all of the greats - Adam 12, Medical Center, Ironside, etc...
The "Psycho" house has actually been in many movies and TV productions from "Diff'rent Strokes" to "Murder, She Wrote." Many film crews have tried to modify it over the years in an attempt to keep audiences from instantly recognizing it, but it's way too iconic. It's had a big, wrap-around porch added, it's been painted pink, it's had other buildings constructed all around it. And there are more than a few productions that foolishly thought if they merely filmed it from another direction, people might not notice. You're the perfect example of how well that worked out for them. Ha!
I didn't even know it was on until I turned it on over there and looking for something to watch. I saw them go by and pick up Dixie to assist them. This was when it first came on. I didn't have a tv guide so I had to search programs.

It must have been a challenge to write this show. Granted, lots of firefighters, wanting to get close to Hollywood, providing their input, but then you have locations and the bean counters had something to say about that. And then, you have location fees, which is why you would shoot on the lot, as opposed to somewhere else. Even more intriguing to me is going lights/siren down a public street. Having done that, it's a lot trickier than you think, which is why there was an actual firefighter (Mike Stoker) on the cast to drive the truck.
That's great! I actually dug deeper to see if there was any connection and all I could come up with is the writer of this episode wrote for Alfred Hitchcock Presents but not the episodes she was in. Maybe the writer wanted to pay homage to Hitchcock and he was friends with her and thought it would be a nice thing to do. That's funny how that house shows up in other Universal shows. but Psycho was made by Paramount firstly. they transfer the right to the film to Universal. to me i think it is just a duplicate for future projects of the series.
I think it's a total stretch on your part, seeing things and reading into it more than you should. It's like reading Nostradamus and thinking "Hister" must be Hitler or Paul not wearing shoes on the cover of Abbey Road is a clue that he died.
@@ricknineg What's always been strange to me about Emergency is how Gage is watching Adam-12 on TV in one episode. Then in another episode, officers Reed and Malloy appear in uniform as officers Reed and Malloy. Now that's psycho! LOL

I’m so old,I remember when Emergency aired. Unfortunately I was usually on TV restriction,& I don’t think my Dad & Step mom liked the show. We didn’t get to see a lot of TV when I was with my Dad…..The injured person being out in the top of the Truck, must’ve how they did thugs way back when ppl did many things, that today, don’t make any sense as to ‘why’.
I remember Emergency but never a big Emergency watcher. But this certainly is interesting! I am definitely a trivia buff. Mind-boggling! Certainly not coincidence, old school Easter egg, I would say. Congrats on this great discovery, Rick!
You are in goldmine then with all the trivia I have posted here 😃
I loved this show, but it traumatized me a little! I think that was on purpose of her looking like Mrs Bates.
Absolutely! Oooh Mother!
I think it was planned.😏🤔
but Psycho was made by Paramount firstly. they transfer the right to the film to Universal. to me i think it is just a duplicate for future projects of the series.
No, I don't. When this episode comes on I will be watching.
I think the word you are looking for, Rich, is *purposely* , not "purposedly" as that is not a real word.
I think it's a total stretch on your part, seeing things and reading into it more than you should. It's like reading Nostradamus and thinking "Hister" must be Hitler or Paul not wearing shoes on the cover of Abbey Road is a clue that he died.
Bit of a stretch.
Stretching is good for the mind
The house, okay. The rest is reaching. She's playing an old woman. I see an old woman playing an old woman. That's all.
She was also nuts. The way she talked to the firefighters 🚒
@@ricknineg Old people often lose their minds to dementia.
@@ricknineg What's always been strange to me about Emergency is how Gage is watching Adam-12 on TV in one episode. Then in another episode, officers Reed and Malloy appear in uniform as officers Reed and Malloy. Now that's psycho! LOL
Haha it’s sure is a bit of complexity when one thinks about the universe of the show and so forth. Awesome chatting together, thanks for supporting
There's no "reaching" at all! I would sure want you on my jury. "Well, she was found in the room with a knife and blood on her clothes...but I'm sure it was a coincidence"
Hay Rick, I'm old also, it comes on back to back Monday - Friday and I watch it every day 🤣😂
