    Wow, you have done a beautiful job. Wish you lived closer to SK. I am going to make one for my daughter for her wedding. I would appreciate seeing you make a few of the things up close on camera. Thanks.

    It's stunning now what are the decorations made out of? Is it a fondant?

      Thank you! No, they are made out of unleavened dough (flour, water, a bit of shortening).

    absolutely gorgeous! how did you learn how to do this?

      Thank you! It took a lot of research and I consulted veteran korovai bakers. Also lots of trial and error and I've learned a lot from experiences.

    Beautiful! My question? If this flowers are made from dough It need to bake first and then put those over the cake.
    Please tell if I'm wrong

      Hi, thank you for your kind comments. Yes, some of the dough decorations on toothpicks are pre-dried (such as the roses), but others that are draped over the korovai are dried on the korovai itself (such as the cascading wheat stalks).

      What do you mean by they dry, how many days do you just leave it to dry?

    • @ludalussier3975
      @ludalussier3975  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, they are either air dried for a few days or the process is sped up in a warm oven (about 180-200 degrees F) for a few hours.

    Hello. What do you make decorations on bread from? is it just flour and water?

      Hi! They are made from flour, water, shortening (or other baking fat) and a bit of corn starch. The recipe can be viewed on my blog at modernyjkorovai.wordpress.com. Thanks for watching!

    Do you have any tips for stacking? Also what are you using to stick the decorations on with?

    • @ludalussier3975
      @ludalussier3975  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for watching! I insert bamboo skewers vertically in between the layers to hold everything together. I used to use a papier maché type glue before (egg white, water and flour) but I now find it easier (and more secure) to put have everything hold with toothpicks.

      @@ludalussier3975 That's great, I'll just go ahead and stack like a cake then 😂
      What are you using to stick the raw dough on?
      Thanks so much x

      @@rebeccabaird2700 it’s all baked. I drape the raw dough decorations over the bread (make them hold with toothpick) dab a bit of the flour « glue » under and then put the korovai with the light dough decorations back in the oven to dry out.

    do you bake it after decorating?

    • @ludalussier3975
      @ludalussier3975  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the korovayi that will not be eaten, yes: first I bake the bread portion, then I put all the decorations on, and then bake everything again to dry out the decorations on the bread.
