Inside Niger: 'France is taking us for idiots' - BBC Africa

  • In Niger, after a two month stand-off between the junta and France, the French ambassador has left the country and French troops are getting ready to pull out. Emmanuel Macron said he’d taken the decision to leave the country because Niger was no longer interested in fighting terrorism.
In late July, Niger became the fourth former French colony in the Sahel to go through a coup in just three years. The political upheaval threatens to destabilise a region already struggling to contain groups linked to ISIS and Al Qaeda.
Mayeni Jones gained rare access to Niger and sent this report.

Sovereignty has its ups and downs. But, colonialism can only be its worst alternative. Let Nigeriens be free. Let them enjoy their sovereignty... land, resources, culture, nature, and the common ancestral bond. Let them make mistakes and learn from them. No country is perfect. The colonialists aren't perfect in their countries.
If we were to learn from history, then we would understand that each civilization has had its low and dark moments... and its high and bright moments. It may be low and dark in Niger now, but it is a turning point... a moment of ascendancy. The future is bright if Nigeriens keep their sovereign dreams alive. They must remain vigilant and watch out for sellouts under the colonial tutelage who may creep back and steal their sovereignty.
The colonialists have not withdrawn but just gone back to the drawing board. These incorrigible colonial parasites die hard. If Africans have to regain their sovereignty, they must remain eternally vigilant against these diabolic colonial parasites and their disguises.

Certain things that others put a lot of value into, Africans didn't put value into those things in the same manner.

The State has the ultimate power in a country, to vitiate a contract for being unconscionable, unfair, below market value or contrary to public policy, or for the benefit of public interest. So, Niger has to cancel those unfair, corrupt contracts signed by corrupt leaders. The government can also nationalize the uranium mines as a matter of state security. Considering the French policy of colonial tax, interest charges for printing Franc-afriq currency, interest from compulsory foreign reserves in French central bank, it is , it is only reasonable that Niger nationalizes all its natural resources, and invite companies worldwide to bid for infrastructure development and resources development contracts under the nationalized system.

You keep thinking that French are the British. British has colonies that was to make them money. French had colonies because the British had colonies. French don't give a damn about the uranium. The French don't have colonies because they have commercials interests. Don't confuse them with the British.

If you have been to any francophone African nation you will know the level of plundering that France has managed to sustain for almost a century. It is normal for them to be dependent on their neighbors for a while till they find their balance. Absolutely normal. Ukraine will depend on the EU and US for the next half century after this war is over. Africa has not benefitted anything tangible directly from the west. It's all media hogwash. Despite China's antics and shortcomings, it has benefitted Africa in 2 short decades more than 100 years of western influence.
