I lost my Zelda last week. I am still kind of lost..their lifespan isn't long enough...I'm too soft for that...I get so attached, I loved shopping for her veggies...She was 2.75 years old.
They're different from baby guinea pigs. Baby guinea pigs take more time to be born, but they're already good to go from day one, completely furred, eating grass and popcorning. It's amazing.
Her dragging them everywhere has me dying. I am just hearing this whole dialogue in my head, "I've told you to get back in here! -drag-" She just grabs wtfever she can get ahold of. 😂

The baby hamster are so CUTE I love them I wish I had one myself! Even though I've had bad experience with hamsters the same fur color as Paprika I still think they are so CUTE!
Its nice to see a mom hamster raise and protect her baby's instead of just eating them like mine always did when I was a child. I'm aware stress to the mother is a huge factor, which I'm sure we could have mitigated better. But yeah, was a pretty gnarly life lesson to a 7 y/o.

I once had a hamster named Tubby and I always tell this story, even though nobody gives a damn, because I'm so proud of it: I bought him a mansion of a cage with all kinds of tunnels and extensions, gave him the best food (actual fruits and stuff, not that cheap hamster food). I even left one of his tunnels open so he could climb out and explore my bedroom every night while I slept. It made me happy to hear his little noises. I treated him so well, that even when he escaped a few times, he always returned 2-3 days later, in the hallway for me to pick him up and lead him back to his cage. RIP Tubby

Exactly. It amazes me how all of us just started out as these tiny, emorphous little things.
You should see pigeons grow-it’s like 14 days from egg to flight, and they change so much from morning to night of one day
