It's incredibly important to mention that the ULT button settings are ALL USER DEFINED. Nobody should make the mistake of assuming that "ULT2 is really overwhelming bass!" It's actually... whatever you set ULT2 to be. By default, yes, out of the box, it is Clear Bass +10. But if you want it to be +6, it can be. If you want it to be +4, it can be. If you want it to be +1, it can be. The button is essentially a physical way of toggling between the Off/ULT1/ULT2 three customizable presets, without needing to always go into the app to change it. You're not stuck with ULT1 and ULT2 as two fixed bass boost options, with ULT2 being overly excessive. That's not accurate (but it's how virtually every review I've seen on TH-cam tends to describe it). You can customize each of them, and it's probably the most important feature of this Sony model. Anyone thinking of getting these, understand how customizable the bass presets for the ULT button are. You'd have to always be going into the app on XM4 or XM5 to adjust the bass.
@@HowardKat If I customize it first, then I plug it in another device without the app, does it retain all the customization and I can use it as set up? Meaning, does it have a memory module in there or it only works fine where the app is installed?

My favorite song is Axol x Alex Skrindo - You [Extreme Decaf + Slowed], which has a lot of bass, so I will have to try the headphones out with this song and switch between the ULT modes.
How does the ANC stack up to the Beats Studio Pro? I’ve heard people say that the Studio Pro’s are on par with the AirPods Max, but I thought I’d ask because I am considering the ULT’s, but my local Best Buy doesn’t have a pair to try out
Hi, Thank you for the review, I use xb900n headphones which are still good for me, but I'm looking at these new bass headphones from Sony. Please tell me if the equalizer works in the Sony app in this model of headphones when using the "LDAC" codec, since the xb900n equalizer only works when the AAC and SBS codec are enabled. This information is very important for me, because if the equalizer is still unavailable in the new headphones in the "ldaс" codec, then I don't see any point in changing my XB900n headphones to this new model
hello, I am debating between these headset and the sony WH1000XM4 or any other sony, i usually l do listen bass related songs, but i also listen to rock and metal , which one would be better?
Sony ult wear vs jbl tour m2 which ones do u think is better choice and why. I am really confused between the 2 plz clarify. + Should i save money and get jbl live 770 ? What r ur thoughts.
tour m2 is more comparable to the mx4. ult wear is good but the mids are very muddled for how bassy they are, you can equalize it and fix it. id go with the sonys cuz they just naturally better sound quality. better ANC, padding, long time wearability...
100% yes. I have both. Earbuds can never sound as good as big headphones. The sound quality, instrument separation, bass, vocals, clarity, will always be much better on big headphones. I got the ULT for £129 on sale ($166).
Is there any way to have a call via discord while listening to music on spotify or games, while still listening in stereo and not mono (pretty bad) audio? Thanks!
If you gonna expect something really much better than any $50 headphones, you'll be really disappointed. I just got mines and now i regret not getting the skullcandy anc crushers 2
I have both and the XM5s sound wayyyyyy better because of the better soundstage and instrument separation. Also, you need to EQ the Ult wear to sound good else its not a match for the XM5
@@namikazeminato7782 With noise cancellation they’re almost the same but XM5 has the slight edge. I had to try them multiple times to notice that difference. In terms of transparency the XM5s are noticeably better. I hear myself a lot better with the XM5s. You can make the Ult Wear sound better than it already does but I personally have not been able to tweak the EQ to sound as good or on par with the XM5s. The XM5s sound wider and crisper, and the vocals are able to cut through the instruments a lot better. It makes the Ult wear sound compressed. Also the Ult wear has more bass but I prefer the bass on the XM5 more. This is the EQ I’m currently using. 400- +2, 1k- +3, 2.5k- +4, 6.3k- +10, 16k- 0 (ULT 1- 0). I usually find myself changing the Eq every time I pickup the headphones.
Anc is very close, xm5 have clearer sound for mid and high, but ult wears have super fun boomy bass. I bought ult wears even though i could get xm5s for slightly more. Tried both in store.
a little out of topic, but check out the new Marshall minor IV, for some reason it's just recently launched but went under the radar especially with the Nothing ear being introduced on the same week
I am an audiophile and member of the Audio Engineering Society. My children thought my BeyerDynamics pro headphones were getting old and so bought me these Sony ULT's. OMG! The bass is ridiculous. I installed the app on my iphone and found that even with ULT off there was preset 10dB bass lift! I set it flat and listened to a decent range of music. These headphones do not justify the price. There are better headphones for less money (especially if corded which removes the 300ms delay when listening to video.). Unfortunately I cant take them back for a refund. They are for sale if anyone wants them.
Here’s the translation: “Oh no, I just ordered them! I listen to a lot of techno, hip-hop, and instrumental music. What type of headphones would you recommend?
i think so. i tried it in person in a shop and compared diff headphones. safe to say, ult wear had no noise in the songs i was hearing, plenty of volume, and good bass once you press ult once but head rattling bass once you press it one more time. better than xm4 definitely in terms of sound and better than the entirety of skull candy in terms of bass and overall enjoyablity.
are they trying to be the Next Skullcandy? I hope everyone tries the monstrosity, the Skull candy Crushers were - they literally had separate powered drivers to only and only produce bass, and they would vibrate on your head. They took extra bass and turned it up to an 11. Now my audio preference is dead flat with my Hifiman headphones but the skullcandys were something else
Am I the only one experiencing sound bleeding, got them today and it’s currently off my ears and I can hear the music like it’s not connected to my phone. Everyone can hear what I’m listening to
I own senheiser momentun 4 and in my case they sound better when wireless where you can use the equalizer. When used with cable they sound too flat and a bit harsh in general
Should I buy these headphones if I hate bass? I love the design of these headphones, they are fordable and have much better ANC than wh-ch720 but will I be able to turn all the bass off? I can't affort xm4 or xm5 and don't like 720 that much either...
!!highly recommend not buying these!! they work great, but ive had two of these now, and theyve both broken the same way after similar time(about less than 2 months). it is tapeable, and was still within warranty. but it seems to be a common problem with the headset. seems to be a oversight to use plastic connected to the part that flexes the most/needs to move the most for going on your head.
You should’ve seen the old sony XB950B1 & XB950N1, they had way more bass than the ULT. I just recently upgraded from the 950B1 to the ULT, and the bass is nowhere near as strong
I just bought them and returned them.. all these reviews make it seem like they have big deep bass.. but.. it’s more like middleweight bass rather than heavyweight.. sad to say but my crusher evos had better bass.. and went louder
Let me ask yall this. I have crusher evos but I want bass on a similar level without shakers and a bit more audio clarity. I can’t decide if I should try these or the crusher anc 2. Or if there’s a better option for bass and LOUD. I hate how quiet all of these BT headphones are.
@@MotoFreak37 There are no headphones with similar bass to the anc crushers while also maintaining audio clarity. That's because the crushers use trickery like haptic feedback to increase the sense of bass. Other headphones do not do this. Personally I bought the ULTs a month ago and while not as bass heavy as the anc crushers (because they have fake bass) they are definitely a step up from the flagship XM3 headphones from Sony that I own and also carry a lot more detail in the sound compared to the anc crushers. With some EQ tuning you can make it sound somewhat close to the audio profile of the flagship XM3/4. And I'm not even mentioning the fact that the ANC on Sony headphones is a lot better than that of the anc crushers. Sony has always been the best when it comes to ANC.
I actually bought both lol. Evos and Ults. This is accurate. But I love both. And use both. And i will say the Evos respond better to a dac amp. Makes them seem high end.
I have tried both and senheiser is on a different league. Sony ult has insane bass almost to level which you don't actually need but at the cost of some sound quality. Even the songs with bass falls flat when it comes to the feel. Senheiser has insane audio quality. For transparency and anc Sony edges by a little.
I'd be curious how they compare with the wh-1000xm4. I had compared the mx4 and mx5 and didn't notice a significant difference so I never upgraded. I do love bass though but feel like the 1000xm models already have great bass.
Great BASS in XM4/5 really ??? Wait until you experience BASS from ULT WEAR and thanks to XM series microprocessor it can also be tuned to sound exactly like XM4/5
I've been using my Crusher Evo for the past 3.5 years. It still works fine. All good with a new ear pad. The battery is magnificent. The simulated bass of Crusher is too much. Hence I'm using my own EQ curve in Poweramp EQ, further with keeping the Crusher bass slider at 15%. And I hate the sound staging of Crusher Evo. I don't feel the staging is decent in Crusher. But recently I started noticing this ULT, XM4 and XM5. Now I'm curious to know the bass difference between both. I actually don't know if I'm missing out any overall better sounding headphones with decent bass as I haven't looked for an alternative all these 3.5 years with my Crusher Evo.
I have these. My Soundcore Life Q10 by Anker, yes, ANKER the battery bank brand, have more bass than these headphones when you press the "Bass Up" button (like the ULT button here). They even look and feel better. And I got them for $30 on Amazon about 5 years ago when they were on sale. For reference, I own Sony MX5s, Bose QCs, Sennheisers, the notorious Skullcandy crushers, Beats by Dre, Harmon Kardon, etc. Other great brands I love include Audio Technica and Bang and Olufsen. So I've hear a lot of different headphones with EQ settings and those meant for bass. The $30 Soundcore's have more bass than these $200 headphones.
Don't lie. I had the q10 and now i have the ults. I hated the q10 because of very low volume. They have bass, yes, but even the xb910 had more bass, so claiming that the q10 have more bass that the sony ults is laughable. Besides, the sony have a more refined sound, ldac and noise cancellation. Q10 only have aac and sbc
@@petermurage8685 nope not lying at all. Q10s have absolutely more bass than these pieces of junk. Is the sound quality as good? Of course not ..maybe you had a defective pair.
Well your certainly entitled to your opinion & I don't think you're lying but I absolutely do not agree with you on this, I would venture to say you're in the minority on this one..... the bass is very clean & well done, and the sound, comfort & look are much closer to the XM4s than the price difference. Soundcore is fine & all but they are not Sony by any stretch...
@@JConner1864 yup I’m only going off of my experience. Maybe I got a defective Ult Wear even. Hi, i think it would be interesting to compare this ULT wear with Skullcandy crusher 2 anc, i've got both and they are very pleasant for watch movies and listen sort of music...thanks for your test 🙏
My favorite song is Axol x Alex Skrindo - You [Extreme Decaf + Slowed], which has a lot of bass, so I will have to try the headphones out with this song and switch between the ULT modes.
Can you use the ANC with a wire without turning on the Bluetooth connection?
yes
Looking forward to the $200 review - can you add JBL 770NC to that list Mike?
Just ignored them and bought these yesterday. Arriving tomorrow.. I'll let you know then 😅
I listened to Tyla's Water on dem in BestBuy and was sold when the bass dropped!!!
How does the ANC stack up to the Beats Studio Pro? I’ve heard people say that the Studio Pro’s are on par with the AirPods Max, but I thought I’d ask because I am considering the ULT’s, but my local Best Buy doesn’t have a pair to try out
I don't know how they pair up to beats studio pros, but they're VERY similar to the Sony XM5s ANC
Planning to buy new headphones soon. Should I got for this or XM4??

Compare it to the Bose QC45 as there are similarly priced in general!!
Can someone tell me in detail how good these headphones are in high notes? Like guitar or some singing? How do they compare to galaxy byds 2 pro ?
Great review! Am about to buy a pair of these
These or the xm4’s?
hello, I am debating between these headset and the sony WH1000XM4 or any other sony, i usually l do listen bass related songs, but i also listen to rock and metal , which one would be better?
Sony ult wear vs jbl tour m2 which ones do u think is better choice and why. I am really confused between the 2 plz clarify.
+ Should i save money and get jbl live 770 ? What r ur thoughts.
tour m2 is more comparable to the mx4. ult wear is good but the mids are very muddled for how bassy they are, you can equalize it and fix it. id go with the sonys cuz they just naturally better sound quality. better ANC, padding, long time wearability...
Should I buy Ult rather than xm4
Can anyone tell me if these would be a good upgrade from the first gen AirPod Pros?
100% yes. I have both. Earbuds can never sound as good as big headphones. The sound quality, instrument separation, bass, vocals, clarity, will always be much better on big headphones. I got the ULT for £129 on sale ($166).

Would they be safe to workout in? Im looking for workout headphones
I like bass but i also care about the rest of sound quality.
Do y'all think ill be satisfied with the mids and highs?
Is there is any difference in inside components between ult and xm5 ??
Yeah
I’m definitely getting a ULT bc I really like bass
If you gonna expect something really much better than any $50 headphones, you'll be really disappointed. I just got mines and now i regret not getting the skullcandy anc crushers 2
Is there a way to make them sound normal with the app?
Is it simultaneous dual audio or only quick switch when it comes to simultaneous devices??
Can handle 2 sources at once. I have it paired with both iPhone and MacBook.
I got this one for 139. It was on sale. Did I get a good deal? Because the price was so low, I added in a theft insurance.
Wich sound better, these or the XM5?
i dont have the xm5 but i do have the ULT wears and they sound amazing! pretty sure there are other comparison vids out there that you can watch.
I have both and the XM5s sound wayyyyyy better because of the better soundstage and instrument separation. Also, you need to EQ the Ult wear to sound good else its not a match for the XM5
Hi @@troysteelroofing. Could you give a comparison on the ANC? And can we EQ the Ult to be as good as the XM5?
What has better bass? The Sony ult or the Sennheiser momentum 4?
Do these have more bass than the skull candy anc 2?
No but the sony's give real bass. The anc 2's give you fake bass.

Awesome review! Just got these today, excited to try it out
Does the sound of the headphones leak?
I am an audiophile and member of the Audio Engineering Society. My children thought my BeyerDynamics pro headphones were getting old and so bought me these Sony ULT's. OMG! The bass is ridiculous. I installed the app on my iphone and found that even with ULT off there was preset 10dB bass lift! I set it flat and listened to a decent range of music. These headphones do not justify the price. There are better headphones for less money (especially if corded which removes the 300ms delay when listening to video.). Unfortunately I cant take them back for a refund. They are for sale if anyone wants them.
Here’s the translation:
“Oh no, I just ordered them! I listen to a lot of techno, hip-hop, and instrumental music. What type of headphones would you recommend?
How much?
I am intrested in buying it from u !
Hw can i reach out ?
Are these ult wear worth the extra money compared to the soundcore Q45 headphones?
i think so. i tried it in person in a shop and compared diff headphones. safe to say, ult wear had no noise in the songs i was hearing, plenty of volume, and good bass once you press ult once but head rattling bass once you press it one more time. better than xm4 definitely in terms of sound and better than the entirety of skull candy in terms of bass and overall enjoyablity.
@@ashique8282I had an xm4, but I'm giving it to a friend. Would these be a solid choice? The 5s are just too expensive for now.
@@ashique8282 These are better than xm4s, hands down?
U tried the Ults in store and they sounded magnificent
A simple question: Do I get sweaty if I wear these headphones for too long?
Not very much. Depends on the weather too haha..
are they trying to be the Next Skullcandy? I hope everyone tries the monstrosity, the Skull candy Crushers were - they literally had separate powered drivers to only and only produce bass, and they would vibrate on your head. They took extra bass and turned it up to an 11. Now my audio preference is dead flat with my Hifiman headphones but the skullcandys were something else
not everyone wanna have a vibrator on their head
Would these be good for the gym?
Am I the only one experiencing sound bleeding, got them today and it’s currently off my ears and I can hear the music like it’s not connected to my phone. Everyone can hear what I’m listening to
Solid review mike. Could you also review wired headphones? I think more people are coming back to those
I own senheiser momentun 4 and in my case they sound better when wireless where you can use the equalizer. When used with cable they sound too flat and a bit harsh in general
How is waterproof? I used it in the rainfall for a while, so I am worried:(
Your cooked
Mine blew up in rain while they were on my ears. Now i have no headphones and no ears, so no more headphones ever again i guess..

Should I buy these headphones if I hate bass? I love the design of these headphones, they are fordable and have much better ANC than wh-ch720 but will I be able to turn all the bass off? I can't affort xm4 or xm5 and don't like 720 that much either...
I'd suggest the Sennheiser Accentum if you hate bass. 🫡
You need some JBL or Bose
You can lower the bass to your liking but if you're not a fan of bass at all even a bit then don't get these they have pretty hefty bass even low
Maybe buy soundcore q45s instead.
What do you give on a 10 point system1/10?
Just got these. Maybe I’m late but they’re so good and discounted now. 150 now… I recommend.
How is the sound quality?
!!highly recommend not buying these!! they work great, but ive had two of these now, and theyve both broken the same way after similar time(about less than 2 months). it is tapeable, and was still within warranty. but it seems to be a common problem with the headset. seems to be a oversight to use plastic connected to the part that flexes the most/needs to move the most for going on your head.
So, which sony’s headphone that we should buy? XM5?
You should’ve seen the old sony XB950B1 & XB950N1, they had way more bass than the ULT. I just recently upgraded from the 950B1 to the ULT, and the bass is nowhere near as strong
no ult have more bass than 950
Can u compare these to the Beats Studio pro
Are the earpads removable?
Is it good for video editors?
I just bought them and returned them.. all these reviews make it seem like they have big deep bass.. but.. it’s more like middleweight bass rather than heavyweight.. sad to say but my crusher evos had better bass.. and went louder
Crushers have fake bass. These do not. But yeah crushers have more bass for sure.
Crusher Evos are good but downside is not comfortable at all and certainly heavy…
And certainly not clear with microphones specially public places.
I actually bought both lol. Evos and Ults. This is accurate. But I love both. And use both. And i will say the Evos respond better to a dac amp. Makes them seem high end.
The hear through is amazing
Are they better than XM4?
Yes
Great video. Yess, i would like to see it compared to the Sennheiser Momentum 4. Which one has a better bass, transparancy and ANC?
diffrent price tag
I have tried both and senheiser is on a different league. Sony ult has insane bass almost to level which you don't actually need but at the cost of some sound quality. Even the songs with bass falls flat when it comes to the feel. Senheiser has insane audio quality. For transparency and anc Sony edges by a little.
Gosh it totally looks neutral gray to me, I need my eyes checked >___< I wonder whether it looks more green to other's eyes..

Where's the volume rocker?
The microphone was great in my idea
@@RGrant2504 i had the q10i
Well your certainly entitled to your opinion & I don't think you're lying but I absolutely do not agree with you on this, I would venture to say you're in the minority on this one..... the bass is very clean & well done, and the sound, comfort & look are much closer to the XM4s than the price difference. Soundcore is fine & all but they are not Sony by any stretch...
@@JConner1864 yup I’m only going off of my experience. Maybe I got a defective Ult Wear even. I prefer my skullcrushers the most with the sensory bass, followed by Sennheisers followed by Ankers followed by the Ult Wear. Sound quality is a whole ‘nother story but just going off bass alone thats my opinion
