I own one of these and had put about 1500 rounds through it before I broke the cylinder hand spring, I called the company to order a new one and they asked me a few questions said that was not up to their standards and sent it to me for free, shipping included.
@timmybmn Yeah, Bud's sells it for under $120 now. I think this might be my first gun. I'm on a tight budget and want something reasonably well made a reliable for practice.
You got the unicorn! Because I tried calling to repair mine and was told I had to mail them the gun at my expense and pay for the repairs. And that was after only 8 rounds!
The Unbeliever Cause he is relaxing to listen to, there always seems to be a new episode that you haven’t seen before, he is a master of his art, and I often fall into a relaxing nap watching him. Bob Ross of Firearms makes perfect sense if you have ever watched Bob Ross.
In a world flooded with high tech semi autos, it is a pure pleasure to hold and fire one of these. And they are affordable to just about everyone. Good job Heritage.
It's 2023 and I noticed that in my area, RK Guns sells them for less than $100. I think the one I saw was $81 and some change. I about bought it right then and there.
@ClergetMusic yeah the sale prices are cheaper than the sale prices from a yr or 2 ago, $99 for the cheap 22lr at sportsman's right now, it's hard not to just buy a shopping cart full of em at that price.
My papa passed a few months back and you sound just like him and even have a similar demeanor. Really brings me peace watching your videos, makes me feel like he’s showing me how to shoot like when I was little. Thank you sir
My Dad had one of these revolvers when I was a teenager and it was pretty solid shooter, he was able to hit with it and I couldn’t because I was still learning to shoot. Roughly over two decades later I bought myself one of these as a birthday present (paid $139 for it) and the sights are dead on out of the box. These revolvers are high quality shooters for a dirt cheap price and very fun to plink with (plus they’re great for teaching new shooters how to shoot).
Thats exactly what my goal is, I’m a new shooter and I thought this would be a perfect gun to learn with. Single action makes it even more simple and the added safety is a nice touch. Since its a 22 the recoil shouldn’t be terrible either
@@potatodonkey1856it's a great gun to learn with. Not only is it inexpensive but you can shoot any 22 round made if you buy the package with the Magnum cylinder. The single action makes you slow down and think about your shots your breathing etc because you have to cock the gun. And it's just a hell of a lot of fun. No big deal if you drop it or scratch it or whatever. It will keep shooting. And if worse came to worse you could defend yourself with it.
You Sir, are an irreplaceable asset to the responsible firearm owning community. I would like you to know that you have a lot of fans down here in the border regions. From South Texas, wishing you and yours all of the best and a heart felt "Thank You" for all that you do.
Love from VA! Been watching your videos since I could sneak on the family desktop when I was 12! Now I’m 22 and love to shoot. Hickok I hope you realize your positive impact on so many!
@@willpittman7593 Really smart at 12 years old, smart at 22 years old too, I learned at age 10 that gun control was a crock, I found a Stackpole book, 'Gun Control' in the family library, and it opened my eyes, sadly I did not have Internet, nobody had Internet back then, or Hickock .45 😥
This gun is an incredible value. First handgun for my kids and we’ve put at least a few thousand rounds through it, 500 in just one day once. Single action, gate loading, and 6 round capacity may seem tedious to experienced shooters, but I feel it teaches many things to a new shooter. Because you have limited capacity and a lengthy reload time, you get to understand the mechanics and you make every shot count. The safety on the gun also teaches good firearm safety handling protocol. The fact that it is reliable, sturdy, and fun to shoot is icing on the cake.
A few months ago on the range a family was shooting beside us...well, the guys were shooting, and they kept asking the gals if they wanted to shoot, and the girls kept declining...I asked if they wanted to try my RR and after the 1st guy tried it, he told his daughter she could do it...the 1st 6 rds she shot were a little shaky, but by the end of the 2nd 6 she was getting into it...I hope I helped create another shooter that day...
Agreed. Also, like Hickok45, I hadn’t been interested in the RR, thinking it was cheap, must be low quality. But today, a guy was shooting one in the bay next to me. He asked me if I wanted to shoot it and I gladly, though somewhat skeptically accepted. 6 rounds later I wanted one. Very solid, good feel and very smooth.
I bought one 3 years ago and have never had any malfunctions. I was skeptical on buying this firearm. But I tell you what it has proven 100% reliable with 22 long and 22 mag. $120 out the door. Great buy and quality work.
@@guardian2598 ive run thousands of rounds through mine. Youll be happy for years. My only gripe is the ejection rod screw tends to loosen. I used some loctite thread adhesive and can still remove it if need be. The 22 wmr gets rifle velocity in a handgun.
I've had one for maybe 15 years. Still happy with it, still fun to shoot. One of my favorites for new shooters, too. They start with this, then the Ruger 22/45.
Been listening to this man for years and just wanted to say thanks. You have taught me so much. Marine Corps taught me how to shoot and you have taught me what to shoot. Semper Fi
I bought one of these years ago for my kids. My thought was exactly what he said slow them down so they don't burn up so much ammo. Now the grandkids use it. Great little gun.
My first pistol. I absolutely love it. It's been more reliable than my Hi-Point and both are around the same price. Passed my carry permit test with it scoring 100% on the shooting portion.
Steve, it is NOT a pistol. It is a REVOLVER. A revolver is NOT a type of pistol, they are different types of handguns. The main difference is that a pistol only has one chamber per barrel, whereas a revolver may have multiple chambers per barrel. It's amazing that so many firearms "experts" talk as if they don't know this.
@@arrlmember 1 year ago and you're wrong as hell, a pistol is a small firearm, a revolver counts as a pistol. So much for knowing your firearms I hope you've learned words can mean many things since this comment.
@@generichaukins plus just colloquial usage. Regardless of technicalities, usage determines what's correct and the vast majority of people would have no issue referring to a revolver as a pistol
@@joshuasjigs well sir it was the colt single action army revolver that was chambered in 45 colt that was best know as the gun that won the west. Also nobody was talking about 45's or what gun won the west he was talking about a .22 that looks and feels like an old West gun.
My dad bought me one of these when I was a teenager...always will hold a special place in my heart and ima pass it down when the time is right. Love this revolver and runs better and more reliable than anything I've owned.
Unfortunately for me I just found how much I like single action purchasing a Rugar Wrangler but now the Trudeau has banned the sale or transfer of handguns in Canada I will never get the chance to explore more single action pistols for the remainder of my retirement. I’m over 60 never been in trouble with the law but I’m treated like a criminal in Canada because I enjoy firearms. Never give up you’re rights to the government in power because you will never get them back. Stay strong for the rest of us that don’t have the right to have firearms 👏🍻
Great pistol, well made, price is affordable. My 22 version shoots spot on at 25 yards. Nicely balanced, and a perfect target and learning pistol. Because it’s single action, it forces you to place your shots, and not burn through ammo.
Always seem to have different grips on them! Got one for my son a few years ago at rural king for 130. Bought the 22 wmr cylinder. He loves it! Carried it camping by himself the first time last week. Every kid should start on a single action pistol!
I'm a big fan of 22 mag for smallgame hunting and this pistol is why. I had one for years with just the 22lr cylinder, then finally upgraded to the longer barrel with the additional 22mag cylinder. Between that $150 pistol and a Remington spartan(12 gauge coachgun) there's been a LOT of meat put on the table! And like many have said, they're great for taking kids shooting. Makes them slow down👍
Thank you for this video. When I purchased my Rough Rider, I asked the salesman to show me how to remove the cylinder, etc. he acted like I was really putting him out and wasting his time (Bass Pro shops in Palm Bay, FL!). I did not know about half-cocking to remove or rotate the cylinder, the safety or other features. You got me ready for the pistol range.
That’s a crappy salesman. It’s the responsibility of the vendor to answer any questions you have, especially if you say you’re unfamiliar with how to handle the gun.
@@tlwilkinson he should have called for a supervisor or manager. Any salesman worth his salt should be willing, and able, to explain and demonstrate the operation and features of every firearm they sell.
That’s my average experience at damn near any gun store. Bunch of self ritchous pricks who think they are better than everyone and can’t be bothered by anyone to do their job. I’ve been to plenty of gun shops in my life and their attitude never changes it gets tiring as fuck. Once I grew out my handle bar and started talking down to them really bad and acting like a hard ass I never got better service in my life. Like I had just tipped them $100. Point and case is treat gun show employees like dog shit and they’ll treat you how you normally should be treated. Be honest and kind with them and they will steam roll you.
I like the safety on the pistol for those that are irresponsible and leave it out for kids to have access to the firearm it gives less chance of someone getting shot.
I get it. The safety is odd and not like the old school 45. The single six is much more elegant but, the single six price tag is not elegant. There is nothing wrong with the safety on this gun other than it is the ugliest thing on earth. From a practice point of view its perfect. Load 6 put it on and the hammer is blocked. There is just no way a rational person can complain about a simple .22 fun shooting SAA that costs 175 bucks. I have a rough rider and an old single six without the transfer bar safety. There is no point in comparing them.
@@pcmountaindog 1851, 1860, 1861 and many other Colt cap & ball revolvers had bumps sticking out the back of the cylinders between the nipples. The hammer had a notch in it, which was designed to fit over one of those bumps, preventing the cylinder from being rotated. In a similar manner, you can place the hammer all the way down on a 1873 Colt SAA, with the firing pin resting BETWEEN two loaded rounds. In either case (cap and ball or cartridge) the gun can be placed in action by simply cocking the hammer. While further research may be needed on this, it may be just as safe to place the firing pin all the way down between two rimfire cases. Do not attempt this unless you really understand what you are doing.
Mine was 200.00, I love it. Changing chambers is easy, safety is great and on target. You do need to clean the chambers and barrel as well as wipe down the outside with light oil after a day of firing. Very easy to handle.
Something not brought up enough is the fact revolvers are absolutely easy and fast to clean...We don't race, but my wife had two cleaned yesterday while I was still messing with the automatic...
I got a .22 LR Rough Rider last year as my first gun after I turned 21 and was very pleased with the purchase, it's good to have home security peace if ever needed
Any home intruder that sticks around after even finding out your home probably isn’t there for your stuff. Couple loud pops with a .22mag they’d be running, one to the dome? Mag or LR, don’t matter, game over. .22 May lack the knock down power of all the other calibers, but it’s the cheapest to get deadly accurate with and it’s all about placement
You sir are a true icon , been watching you for years , I have 2 heritage rough riders , good guns ! Love the old gun stories , keep up the good work !
I just got one yesterday, for $145 I am blown away with how nice it is, it feels and shoots just like my uncle's much nicer and more expensive Ruger single action .22 revolver that he bought 40+ years ago, _and_ it has a safety unlike the Ruger. You really can't go wrong with these little guys, especially if you're on a budget. Plus Heritage has incredible customer service from what I've read, it seems like smaller gun companies really care about their customers, kind of like Hipoint, you may not care much for their guns but they'll take care of you if anything happens. I was disassembling my hipoint after I just got it, and a part went flying into the abyss of my shop when my hands slipped, I called up hipoint and they said "ohh that's a bummer, happens all the time, what part was it? We'll send you one free". I'm pretty sure Heritage is the same way from all the people I've heard from. Either way I'm sold on Heritage guns.
I was actually looking at getting the more expensive Ruger today, but the sales guy said that the cheaper Heritage is far superior, so I got the Rough Rider instead.
@@DeWin157 A safe bet. I only have one gripe about it and that's the rear sight, mine shoots pretty high and its not adjustable, but aside from that I love the thing. Good thing I'm a machinist, milling a dovetail for an adjustable sight will be easy lol. Hope you enjoy once your ten days is over!👍
+inamadworld I kind of did that in reverse. Bought one for my step dad when he was 70 on spur of the moment to make up for a "mishap" I had with his pickup almost thirty years ago. He was good about it then, but appreciated the thought ;)
Yet another fantastic video! The Heritage Rough Riders are a fun, reliable and cost effective revolver. I first got my 6.5" Rough Rider about 5 years ago for $150 USD. It didn't come with the magnum cylinder, so I bought one from Heritage. The standard cylinder will shoot .22 Short, .22 Long and .22 LR. The magnum cyl. of course shoots .22 WMR. Aside from having fun at the range, I also use it for training new club members for the single action revolver segment of the course, so it gets a lot of rounds put through it. The key to this revolver is, keep it clean and keep it oiled. I liked it so much, I bought the Long Fella (16" barrel). It is available with both traditional sites and fiber optic front with adjustable rear.....and I opted for those with that barrel length. Of course, I just had to get the Rough Rider Rancher. 16" S/A revolver carbine. The magnum cylinder (not fluted like the regular cylinder) fits and functions in all three Rough Riders (all six shot). Again, great video and keep 'em coming!!
@@royjaber571 yep. I'm also thinking this is a great first gun for a little one. Very hands-on experience, not intimidating, and teaches the fundamentals. And the nostalgia! Good wall art, that just happens to actually work. 👍
I wish I had one of these. The heritage Rough rider is perfect fiddle shooting and trick shots. The parts are in it are cheap (which is good because the internal parts don't have much mass) so dry firing this specific gun doesn't damage the hammer or a oylther inter al parts
Thank you my husband passed away and left me one. No instructions, I have shot before but never this gun. I now feel confident to take to to the range.
I don't like the unloading thing on it though. Loading it that way is cool but I want to be able to pop the cylinder and kick out all the rounds at once.
Just picked one up for $119.99 it’s my fifth gun and I was wanting a revolver but didn’t want to pay a lot. I’ve shot about 100 rounds through it with no issues.
I own three of these I have done several hunts with them I've taught quite a few people for their first time shooting a firearm on these three firearms I own one that was handed down to me from my uncle when I hadn't turned 16 years old and it's a great little fox gun when you're out the woods and you're running with dogs I bought two more since haven't had a lot of issues with them they're fairly accurate you do have to do a little bit of adjustment to the site but all-around just an amazing little firearm my wife loves shooting these things they don't have a lot of recoil they kind of teach you to slow down take your time and get an accurate shot 22 magnum run find through them 22 long rifle runs fine through my shoot 22 shorts Durham every once in awhile I dispatched quite a few small game with them from possums raccoons fox it's a great starting revolver because it's inexpensive and it happens to work really well
Just got one last week at a garage sale💵 $175 got me the 6.5" camo laminate grips with the 22 lr and 22 mag cylinders, gun belt with 20 spots for shells and 92 rounds of 22 mag.
You and I are close in age. ( I suspect I'm a bit older) I grew up with guns and was even the captain of my high school Smallbore rifle team. In my senior year, we won the City championship and placed # 2 in the Utah State match. I was drafted into the Army out of High School. My assigned weapon for my first 10 years was an M16A1. I have spent time on the range with an M14 and have sent many 30 cal rounds downrange through the M1 Garand! After I was commissioned, my assigned weapon was a mix of M16A1 and M1911A1. I commanded a detachment of maintenance soldiers during operation Urgent Fury in Grenada. My weapon there was an M1911A1. I retired after 23 years of service Over my years of being shipped all over the world I sold and/or gave away all but one of my guns. It's a Remington 552 Speed Master with the longest barrel they offered. There are some very lucky soldiers out there! I retired from the Army and settled in East Tennessee ( Elizabethton!) I love it here! I know most of my neighbors are armed and many have Tennessee carry permits. That makes us all safer! Two years ago my 87-year-Old mother in law who lived a few miles from us was targeted by a drug-addicted monster. We assume he was looking for prescription drugs but DNA and other evidence indicate he beat and raped her before fleeing. His trial for her murder starts next month! Feb 2021. If you have made it this far in my comment :) thank you! Not a minute in my life passes since that day without regret that I didn't buy Mary, my mother, in-law a gun and teach her how to use it. I bought a Springfield M1911A1 Mil-Spec for home protection not long after that. I got my Tennessee, Enhanced, carry permit last month. My wife knows nothing about the gun and little about my training for the permit. For most of our 26 years of marriage, she has hated hunting and guns. My 552 was kept in my dusty closet where she never saw it. I have occasion to travel overnight for my retirement gig consulting business. A few weeks ago my wife said "I'd like a gun for the nights you're not here". That broke my heart and I've been here every night since. She shot a gun once and it scared the hell out of her. That was likely her brothers or male friends looking for laughs. I'm shopping for her gun! I can't spend another night away from home until I know she has it and can use it effectively if necessary. Low recoil and less bang preferred. I have fired millions of 22LR I don't recall a single misfire. Most were match grade but many were off the shelf. I'm leaning toward a 22 gun but 380 is my next choice. I can't spend another night on the road until she is armed and I am confident she will pull the trigger if and when necessary. Life can sometimes be dangerous, scary, and fatal. My wife spent the last three nights of her mother's life listening to screams for help and there was nothing she could do. My bad! I have the skills necessary to teach her how to defend herself and I didn't! The Monster defendant our judicial system forces May's family to face in court over the next few months should be where she is and we should be loving Mary and consoling her for the brave action she had to take! I love police officers and nurses! They are my heroes! Police do an amazing job keeping monsters off the streets but they are underfunded and can't be every place they are needed all of the time. Most police officers I know agree, armed citizens, trained and comfortable using a gun is our best defense. I love English Teachers too! :) Feel free to dash and slash my comment with red ink! I'm 68 years old and always learning!
Someone will find this range in hundreds of years from now with a metal detector, and they will think a major battle was fought there. I am sure there are thousands of casings.
My 4.5" barrel version is a fun shooter for $160. Thanks for reviewing Hickock45. Mine shot low and left so slighty bent front sight and filed it down (then reblued with cold blue) so now dead on target. Out of box had many light strikes due to main spring issue. Company sent shipping tag and replaced spring for free. No issues since, couple thousand rounds later.
Got one of these for my Son years ago. Drilled the top strap for a scope rail, and added a red dot scope for varmint killing. I've seen other comments regarding accuracy, but I can tell you with the 22 mags, the thing was a tack driver.
Love watching all your videos! I've learned a lot from you, and I actually bought this gun the other day... the .22lr/.22mag combo. Spent an hour and 100 rounds at the shooting range having a blast. I watched this particular video of yours probably 2 dozen times leading up to buying it. I'm new to guns and wanted something with low recoil, something that wouldn't jam up on me, and was affordable. This met all the criteria. I eventually want to get my hands on a S&W Model 10...may have to get one from Bud's when I get the money saved up. Thanks again for sharing all your knowledge with all of us, especially us newbies.
I Finally shot my 22 Mag this past weekend. And REALLY Enjoyed shooting it. Thanks for getting me interested enough in this gun, that I went and bought one. Looking forward to enjoying more time behind the trigger with it.
I learned to shoot with an Arminius HW7 revolver. It has never failed me. 9 shot and no safety!! I went and bought me a Heritage arms and it’s a sweet little revolver but that dad gum safety has killed me!! Lol just like that!! Lol It’s amazing that people doesn’t think it’s a 22. It’s a lot louder that my Heritage!! I love the ease of loading and unloading of the old styles. Thank you for sharing your videos!
I have become addicted to your reviews. Love your comments and honesty. Due to you great feedback on guns, I have purchased a Heritage Rough Rider from Buds' as well as some ammo. Thanks a million sir!
I purchased one of these to teach my girlfriend how to shoot and was very impressed. With a little work on the sights it's a great pistol and a great price. I would highly recommend it
Yup,after the 1st round women know this pistol doesn't hurt to shoot...won't be long before you make her buy her own ammo...and the revolver to go with it...😀
Great video sir!! Those are sweet little guns like the pearl grips.I have a 4 3/4 I've had for about 10 years love It found a 357/38 it's now my carry gun. Bought a Ruger Wrangler took it today where I bought it traded it back in got another longer barrel rough rider 22 just really enjoy these guns. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun.
I have one of these. It’s my favorite gun. Over the years I have sold off a S&W Bodyguard, a Ruger LCP II, a Keltec P17, and a Colt 1911 80 series 45, but still have this one. Was always my best shooting/accurate gun, and something about it just always resonated with me. With both the 22LR and 22WMR barrels, I never really feel under armed. Such a cool gun.
The henry 22 and the rough rider were how I taught my son to shoot. dont have to worry about accidental discharge, and it's a huge confidence booster being able to hit targets with no recoil before moving on to something bigger
1-Do not dry fire this gun. 2-Make sure you pull the hammer back all the way so the cylinder lines up with barrel. 3-Loctite all the bolts you can find on it. 4-Have fun!
Never locktite anything on a gun. As for dry firing, with the safety setup on this gun, it is perfectly fine to dry fire. I have one and have no issues with screws coming loose. As with any gun, it is a good idea to check screws to make sure some did not come loose.
I love the single action heritage rough rider. Just got one. It looks great, and it is good quality for a .22. It comes with two cylinders for LR and Magnum. Easy to use. I like the safety feature block. Pretty accurate. I wish I had a better looking grip though.
You can order them from heritage's official website! I ordered a wood/pearl finish grip with texture for 35 bucks from them (the top half's wood and lower half's pearl.) and a 22 mag cylinder with oak leaves engravings. There REALLY easy to change also. Just a screw and pin
I picked up the .22LR Heritage Rough Rider at the local gun show in Roanoke recently for $130 and Taurus generously gave me a 1 year membership renewal of my existing NRA membership which would have cost me $30. So basically I gave $100 for this gun. I am happy to report I have put 500 rounds through it without a problem. It is very accurate and will be my backup squirrel gun during the upcoming firearms deer season. Enjoyed the review.
"Shot their foots" ha, ha. "45" is a treasure to our shooting world. Firearms knowledge, accuracy, ethics, a laid back no malice in the heart enjoyment of guns and shooting, and last but by no means least- a smile bringing sense of humor. Hickok45 is the best man on the range.
I just ordered the magnum cylinder for my 22 rough rider! I'm very excited to shoot it! It seems that the 22WMR rounds are a little easier to find right now. I greatly appreciate your videos and enjoy your expertise. Take care and shoot straight!!
I still have the Ruger Single Six with the .22 Magnum cylinder I got in 1976. I was 12 and Dad thought I was mature enough to have a pistol of my own. Beautiful piece.
My Grandpa has one like this, a .22 single action. I don't know if it's a Heritage, but it did hold 9 shots of .22 LR. Some of my best memories were going out to shoot with him. On my 21st birthday, instead of going out to drink, I bought my first gun. It was a Heritage Rough Rider in .22LR and just like the one in the video, mine was a 6 shot. I also bought my second gun that same day, a Smith and Wesson SD9VE for home/personal defense. I still have them both and I'll never get rid of that .22
2 years it took me to finally find the one I wanted. I’m pretty sure this video was the reason I wanted one and you are the reason I fell in love with the Remington fieldmaster. I also have one of those now as well.
just came back from the LGS where they had a used 6.5 inch Satin Black .22LR Rough Rider on sale for only $99.00. I jumped on it within seconds of seeing it. It has the beautiful cocobola exotic wood grips, and came with the magnum cylinder (which had never been taken out of the original plastic bag it came in) . Ran it over to the range and it shot perfectly. Sometimes the Gods smile on you favorably.
Wow, $100 and it came with the magnum cylinder too.. good deal..there was a rebate recently for $50 off... Damn.. I should have bought a short barkeep model or a bird's head version. The cocobolo grips on these are nice.
@@timd729 you can always put the birdshead grip on. They sell them separately. I took off the cocobolo standard grips and put on a black and pearl birdshead grip on mine. Put a gold trigger and hammer in while I was at it. Fun little project. Made me have a better understanding of internal worings of a revolver. As it is my first one Looks great now and fits my wife's small hands better. I don't know about the barkeep. I think I'd loose the little ice pick you need to eject the spent casings.
@@michaelsherfield3749 Might buy a set of birdhead grips.. Hold on to the regular plow handle cocobolos because people tell me it's going to stop being imported soon as it's becoming an endangered wood, in my opinion some of the best wood grips can be made from... Totally forgot the barkeep doesn't have an ejector in it... You are right about sticking with the original. I think I'll just look for a rough rider with adjustable sights, grab the magnum cylinder and one of those fancy 22lr ones with the engraving and call it a day.
The Rough Riders are enough fun for me to have two of the, one with w 4.75" barrel and one with the 6" barrel. Don't forget, you can also shoot 22 Long and 22 Shorts.
Do you have the LR chamber? The LR chamber 100% fires mag rounds i personally have done it , i PROMISE you.but i also do know the mag chamber does NOT fire LR. This a was a great video, but that gun firing LR is DEADLIER than . 38 special... For 1 if you aim at there left eye, they will atleast no longer have. There left eye... I trust that gun with my life. Just make sure you got some fresh rounds in it if your life in any way will ever depend on it lol.
With the cost of popular (bigger cal) ammo, I've been a lot more conservative at the range with my bigger guns. I've been having so much fun with my wife's 1950s J.C. Higgins .22 nine shot and my Henry Golden Boy, that I ordered the Barkeep last night.
Bought one of these last year for $115.00 . Very fun to take to the range. Few hundred rounds through it and it’s been flawless. Awesome for anyone to enjoy but also a good entry level firearm for someone looking to start light when getting into the firearm hobby.
Just picked up one of these today brand new in the box for 99 bucks. local gun store was having a 4 of July sale. Gonna use it to teach my kids how to shoot. can't wait to get it to the range and see how it shoots. Thanks for the video, informative and entertaining, as always.
Love your vids, and your personal range. Got a 6.5 as a present from the missus, and was absolutely blown away, pun intended, with quality and accuracy. Literally the cheapest I own, and accuracy is better than any other pistol. Thanks for the review, looking forward to more.
I absolutely LOVE these guns. The first holster I ever made was for these. Still my best selling holsters. Alot of folks use these. Great for trapping.
The cylinder hand returning spring broke on mine. After about 300rounds. And the ejector rod got loose. Cost about 60$ at the gun smith... but I still love the thing lol
George Bush I recommend removing the screws one at a time and coating with 400 degree loctite then tightening really tight and allowing to sit overnight atleast. That’s one of the only real issues
I don't believe I'd ever pay over half what the guns worth to get it repaired. In real life I don't like to pay over 1/2 price for anything used except guns, which I will go a little higher but I'd rather shucked out that the extra $40 and just replaced it. And then you could have always use that one for spare parts if you needed it.
As an NRA instructor, I bought one to use as a prop to demonstrate to my students what "single action" meant. Was I surprised at the quality of this firearm. You could see the lights go on in the eyes of my students as they loaded and unloaded the dummy rounds, worked the hammer to half cocked and full cocked positions, etc. it was the star of the show.
I bought one a couple years ago with the two cylinders both 22 long rifle and Magnum. Both cylinders hold 9 rounds each. Plus mine came with rear sights, beautiful gun shoots fantastic, I really like the safety feature you can load all nine bullets at one time and not worry.

'Gun Control' in the family library, and it opened my eyes, sadly I did not have Internet, nobody had Internet back then, or Hickock .45 😥
My brothers and I subscribed. We love your channel. You’ve got friends from East Texas, sir.

Gas Mask guys Pensacola Florida? If so, Heritage is from Florida, so that should definitely cut down prices.
The primary safety is between your ears! I preach the same thing! I wish the world would catch on.
I like the safety on the pistol for those that are irresponsible and leave it out for kids to have access to the firearm it gives less chance of someone getting shot.
@@apocalypse4720 i like the safety so i can load six and not worry about the firing pin resting on the primer.
@@Billy28376 yes that is another great reason to have it

@Ryan John trust me bro, a 22 to the dome and you are lights out.

I Finally shot my 22 Mag this past weekend. And REALLY Enjoyed shooting it. Thanks for getting me interested enough in this gun, that I went and bought one. Looking forward to enjoying more time behind the trigger with it.
d graham do you need a separate cylinder for the 22 wmr
Franklin Hicks yes they come with 2 cylinders
Too bad 22 mags are more expensive than 9mm last time I looked.
Preston Orrick kot by much. 11.27 for 50 maxi mags. 9.99 for a 50 of Winchester white box. Not enough to break the bank

This guys a hell a of a good shot.
You know of course that he is the guy who Dirty Harry was modeled after... No kidding.
The man can probably curve a bullet up over a hill and a mile out
that's an understatement, he would've been a helluva bounty hunter back in the wild west.
This dude is the Marley of real life
I learned to shoot with an Arminius HW7 revolver.
My Heritage.22 Magnum is nice. Wish they were built better
I have become addicted to your reviews. Love your comments and honesty. Due to you great feedback on guns, I have purchased a Heritage Rough Rider from Buds' as well as some ammo. Thanks a million sir!
Hickok 45 is my go-to guy for gun
info! Great videos from a true professional! Thank you!
My son and I purchased ourselves this very weapon and for two weeks
Been having a ball
I love living in the country
God Bless
Thanks for explaining why you should load only five shells in old west revolvers
I thought everybody knew that, sorry it was presumptuous for me to think that.
I purchased one of these to teach my girlfriend how to shoot and was very impressed. With a little work on the sights it's a great pistol and a great price. I would highly recommend it
Yup,after the 1st round women know this pistol doesn't hurt to shoot...won't be long before you make her buy her own ammo...and the revolver to go with it...😀
She has a glock 9 now
Great video sir!!
I've had one about 2 years and Love it, I find it useful, for checking traps.
@@Forrestarabian no.
4-Have fun!
TheCatsa I wouldn't loctite it because you need to take it apart at some point and the loctite will add annoyance to that process
Medium-strenght locktite (blue) is effective, and requires no special procedures when removing hardware.
The safety prevents the hammer from hitting the cylinder. If you dry fire it with the safety on it should be just fine.
Never locktite anything on a gun. As for dry firing, with the safety setup
on this gun, it is perfectly fine to dry fire. I have one and have
no issues with screws coming loose. As with any gun, it is a good idea to check
screws to make sure some did not come loose.
y tf would u dry fire any gun?
Hickok has been my firearms teacher since he started. Great guy.
I've owned the Heritage 22 LR /22 mag for many, many years but the one I own has a 9" barrel. It's a very good shooting little pistol.
I know it's an old comment but do you like the 9inch? do you have the 6.5inch too?
My Dad bought a nice High Standard 9 shot when I was 13. It was stolen later. It was a nice piece but never got to shoot it.
I still have them both and I'll never get rid of that .22
I have one. I love it. Perfect lil snake popper.Came w magnum and lr cylinder.
Your videos are just amazing quality. Exactly whats wanted for gun reviews.
2 years it took me to finally find the one I wanted. I’m pretty sure this video was the reason I wanted one and you are the reason I fell in love with the Remington fieldmaster. I also have one of those now as well.
Just got one myself. Before I even touched the thing, I made sure to watch this video one more time. Keep up the fantastic work!
Hickock is excellent. I just bought one of these .22’s and love it. Great review
"I just got killed in the streets of Laredo", 16:36 haha.
My wife got me this one for Christmas two years ago. It was 220.00. Love it very much, shoots great
On sale today $107 after tax in Pennsylvania at Dunhams sports.
I absolutely dread the day that hickok decides to retire from youtube :-( :-( :-(
+okey dokey at least we will always have videos to remember him:)
+okey dokey He loves making videos i dont think he wants to stop!
Its for people like us who really appriciate his content he makes it for.
we will definitely have plenty of vids to watch still but same
Weve got hickockandson to carry on the legacy.
and then his kids if he got some
just came back from the LGS where they had a used 6.5 inch Satin Black .22LR Rough Rider on sale for only $99.00.
I have one with fancy grips and I got the rig with it! I am glad I did ! Thanks for all your and your sons great videos!
Higgins .22 nine shot and my Henry Golden Boy, that I ordered the Barkeep last night.
got mine used for $99.... It's my go to .22 and i LOVE it! Makes me feel like Paladin xD
Found it for $99 right now online for new.
Sloth Gaming nice! Guess prices have improved after 5 years
Also, first gun my girlfriend ever fired and she loved it. Awesome with the Magnum ammo
Bought one of these last year for $115.00 . Very fun to take to the range. Few hundred rounds through it and it’s been flawless. Awesome for anyone to enjoy but also a good entry level firearm for someone looking to start light when getting into the firearm hobby.
I have one of these and I highly recommend it. Nice gun and a nice price.
Just picked up one of these today brand new in the box for 99 bucks. local gun store was having a 4 of July sale. Gonna use it to teach my kids how to shoot. can't wait to get it to the range and see how it shoots. Thanks for the video, informative and entertaining, as always.
got one Used for $70 like new...
how is the trigger? Thinking about buying one for a kid to learn on too
It's a Single Action.. So Not that bad..
Love your vids, and your personal range. Got a 6.5 as a present from the missus, and was absolutely blown away, pun intended, with quality and accuracy. Literally the cheapest I own, and accuracy is better than any other pistol. Thanks for the review, looking forward to more.
I've been thinking about picking one of these up for the tackle box, seems like a good little rig thanks Hickock I'm gonna pick one up for plinking.
I absolutely LOVE these guns. The first holster I ever made was for these.
Still my best selling holsters. Alot of folks use these. Great for trapping.
I have owned two Heritage .22 revolvers. Lost one in a move but still have one. Love them.
Do you think the movers stole it?
@@TheRetiredVeteran I'm sure one of them took it. My wife had put it in the closet next to the front door. When I checked it the gun was gone.
@@genewoody7187 I know how you feel. I am retired military and my wife and I have moved over ten times and we always had stuff missing.
I love the "read manual before using" imprinted onto the side of the gun
Yeah if I seen that on a expensive S&W or something I wouldn't buy it.
Me too !
I bought one a couple years ago with the two cylinders both 22 long rifle and Magnum. Both cylinders hold 9 rounds each. Plus mine came with rear sights, beautiful gun shoots fantastic, I really like the safety feature you can load all nine bullets at one time and not worry. Also a great warranty, they honor their guns even after warranty time oh, I think that is unbelievable, shows they stand behind their products. The quality is outstanding, I own a Ruger as well there's no comparison Heritage by far much better pistol.
Is it a 9 shot heritage rough rider? Or is it the Herrington and Richardson? (H&R) a bit nicer of a pistol.
@@KurtOnoIR it's a Heritage Rough Rider. For the price you're absolutely cannot beat it. Plus I bought a display box, on top of the box it says We the People, and it holds both cylinders, I believe the box was about 16 maybe $18, put the box is very well made. I display the box so people can see it open it naturally it's unloaded, but a great conversation piece, especially when I mention the price they all say I want one.
@@americanspirit8932 awesome, mine only holds six.
And I dont have the rear sights, that would have been nice.
