    Hi!! I just found you yesterday, so I am a new subscriber, but I had a question about the freezer paper transfers. First of all, wow, you make some pretty awesome thrift flips! Secondly, is wax paper or parchment paper the same as freezer paper? Those are the only two items that I have. If not, I will head out and purchase some.I’m excited to try this method out. I will be binge watching the rest of your videos soon, lol!

      Hi Marie! Thank you & Welcome! Freezer paper is thicker (of course certain brands may vary) I found parchment paper doesn't have the heavy wax coating the others do. My next video will show how they look in color (along with 4 other inkjet transfer methods) ♥️ -Kim

      Thanks, Yvonne! I didn't attempt wax paper cause it seemed kinda flimsy but just may vary in brands. If you do try I would recommend taping it to a sheet of cardstock so it doesn't get stuck in your printer ❤️ Let me know how it turns out if you try it

    Wow, what a great idea using freezer paper for transfer's. Too many trash to treasure tutorials on YT feature IOD Stamps & Transfer's, which can be quite an investment. I've done many projects where I printed out graphics on tissue paper, so luckily I know how to feed the paper into the printer. Many thanks for showing this technique and for the images on your website! I've liked, shared, commented and subscribed to your channel to show appreciation for your knowledge and talent!

      Hello! I've learned to get crisper lines by applying paint with a sponge OR using a paint brush and spray bottle.
      These projects I noticed had "brush strokes" which created blurry transfers.
      Also a newer ink cartridge helps create darker images.
      I hope this helps! & thank you for watching ❤️

      Maria I use Canva.com. They do offer a free version. I create a standard page 8.5x11" or 11x8.5". Then upload the graphic and size to what you want. Then hit the "FLIP" option.
      I will be making tutorials soon to show more on how to create with Canva because it's very user friendly.
      I hope that helps ❤️❤️

    When inserting the paper into the printer, is the freezer paper side on top or underneath?

    • @CreativeDIYPurpose
      @CreativeDIYPurpose  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For my printer the shiny side is face down however some printers may be face up. You can take a piece of printer paper and write an x on the side you place down in the tray. Then run it through the printer to see if it comes out face up, as well. If not then you would place yours face up in the tray. Hope that makes sense ❤️😊

    • @CreativeDIYPurpose
      @CreativeDIYPurpose  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rustoleum sealer, two very light coats spraying from a good distance away. Drying the piece overnight & then in between each coat. I recommend testing a small section first or a sample piece with the same surface. Those steps help so the ink doesn't reactivate & smear. ❤️

    I have a print of my late husbands work. Would like to transfer it to a large piece for a light installation. Where could I get a large copy, 2 1/2' X 3'. Any idea where I can get a print that large on wax paper? Or a company that would do it? Liked your tutorial by the way. But the size I'm looking at, glass would be too heavy, can it transfer be done on plexiglass sheet?

    • @CreativeDIYPurpose
      @CreativeDIYPurpose  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a beautiful idea, Barbara❤️ I wonder if you have a local print shop that would do it for you. Could you paint the surface w chalkpaint or do you need it transparent?

    • @barbarapendergrass5098
      @barbarapendergrass5098 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CreativeDIYPurpose The only print shops in our area only go so large. And not transfers. They did wonderful work making prints of my husband's art, but nothing as large as I'm wanting. I've thought of contacting Kinko's. Would be willing to do something using a paint on application where the paper gets washed away. Don't know if the chemicals would mar the surface of the plexiglass sheet. It's a consideration about rubbing IOD transfer. Want to give it as a gift to our son at Christmas. The one I saw that I'm trying to duplicate was backlit in a deep frame and hung on the wall as a mood light. Have considered the printed shower curtains. Concerned about the crispness of the print. My husband did magnificently intricate work with a wood burner. I wouldn't want to lose any detail.

    • @CreativeDIYPurpose
      @CreativeDIYPurpose  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@barbarapendergrass5098 it's worth a call to Kinkos for sure. He sounds like he was an incredible artist. What a blessing you are to share his creations. Your gift idea sounds beautiful.
      Yes I agree the shower curtain might blur and wear off after awhile. I will look on Pinterest and let you know if I come across anything that may help.
      Pls touch base and let me know what you figure out because once you do I'm sure others would appreciate the advisement ❤️

    • @barbarapendergrass5098
      @barbarapendergrass5098 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CreativeDIYPurpose The local print shop, and might I say some great people only prints so large. The nearest kinkos is an hour away one way. But we did use them for some family photos once and they were fine prints.
      To get the light to come through the print properly an opaque paint wouldn't be right. I was reading about ModPodge. The article advised gloss medium for transparent glass. Still scarry. The cost of a sheet of plexiglass that large is quite expensive. Have several poster frames around with a cheap thin plastic cover. Maybe I'll experiment with one of those.
      My son lives in a man cave and having his Dad's work being a mood light I think would be special to him. Don't mean to blow my husband's horn. But he was an excellent artist. And this steam punk abstract is one of his finest and last pieces. Really want to honor him and do it up right.

      @@barbarapendergrass5098 wow I would love to see a picture of this piece. 😍 let me know how it goes w the poster thin sheet. It may work out better than the plexiglass. What size are you looking for in plexiglass?
