      Yes, nice balance. I really like your tutorial style even though I'm not big on low-poly stuff or sculpting. I love a good Ian Hubert or Blender Binge "bus catching" tutorial but those are hard to keep up with. On the other hand It's tough to stay focused making a donut for 4 hours with "other" tutorials ;) But I've always thought you've found the perfect balance: not running for the bus, but not wandering down alleys and into thrift shops and stopping for lunch (or a donut?) either. Thanks.

    Select all vertices.
    Right-click and select “Merge Vertices”. From the new options displayed, click “by distance”.

      Don't add new shapes while in edit mode. Instead go to Object mode ---> Add ---> Mesh
      --->Cube or Circle or whatever. Then we will get separate objects. But when we do it in edit mode, it whole body acts as a single object, so you can't select the hand individually.

    • @LemonGrinder
      @LemonGrinder 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I had that issue too, since I originally made my character as one object. Luckily you can solve this by separating your original character into individual objects by selecting the vertices and turning them into their own objects!

    Man, I can't thank you enough for this amazing tutorial for a complete noob like me. I spun my wheels going nowhere with the Automatic Weights. Your approach is much simpler, and I can control which mesh is a child of which bone. Automatic Weights drove me nuts and I had to continuously adjust the weight painting. This tutorial put a smile back on my face and get my blood pressure in normal range 🙂. I will check your Udemy courses.

    In the past, I made several attempts to warm up to Blender, just didn´t work out in spite of YT Videos, books and DVD´s. When 2.8 came out I thought I give it another try and luckily came across your channel. And all of a sudden I find myself having hours and hours of fun modelling sea shacks, chess pieces, elephants, ray guns and now low poly (it´s probably "polygonically challenged") people , all thanks to you. You are really an exceptional teacher. Thanks a ton, Grant, I really appreciate the enormous amount of effort and time you put into these tutorials. I have no clue what this dreadful "weight painting" is that all the more proficient guys are talking about in the comments, but with you on our side I´m absolutely confident that we as your faithful followers will master even this without lasting detriments to our mental health...

I'm looking forward to your videos, while learning from the past tutorials! :) Just started my studies in university of applied sciences last fall, and found my calling on 3D-side. Games, props, character designing.. Just dont know yet which of these paths I'll follow, gotta start from basics and see where that leads. Have a nice day!

Here, though, you actually like, speak at a normal pace and EXPLAIN things, which is infinitely more helpful and actually teaches me how to do shit instead of just "copy along and do what I do exactly as I speed through this 'tutorial'"
