    At 3:00 is where he passes the right way in. He didn't "go the wrong way" last time, he just didn't use the correct lane: the separated far one, behind the barriers. After the checkpoint, go between the barriers (before the gaps close up) and it's one clear lane all the way to the front, never a line. It's supposed to be an 'emergency access' lane (that's why the checkpoint) so, technically illegal, but so is splitting lanes in Mexico. Tons of bikes use it all day and I've never seen any pulled over.
    FYI at 4:44, that barrier on the left is no longer there, and that's a better way to go.
    Anyways this guy is showing you the way you might do it if you're coming from Zona Rio. Coming from the downtown side it doesn't make sense to go this way.

    Stay in the middle lane when you turn at the Costco, and stay right where the ramp turns uphill. After the medical shack on the left, you can jump into that lane if the traffic is backed up, and ride straight to the line. No need to loop around. Also, you pushed up pretty far in the sentri lane. There's a marked opening for motos a little before where you tried to get through the barrier. Pretty sure you can't pull off what you did anymore. I love riding in Mexico. Great vid.

      I actually just went two weeks ago and was still successful. I’m always up to learning a new route. I have an idea what you are suggesting, but I’m wondering if you split lanes at all with your route?

    • @normgorton
      @normgorton ปีที่แล้ว

      @@teacherontwowheels the only time you need to pass between cars on the rout I gave, is after you come to the top of the ramp, try to be on the right side, and there's a wide enough lane there to get you past the medical shack on the left. Sometimes it's wide enough to go all the way to the booths, but usually it pays to cross through the traffic and the medical lane barrier on the left side and ride unmolested to the border. I usually jump back over to the right side at the big crosswalk. You can shoot straight across to the ready lanes through the barriers. I've followed plenty of baggers this way. I commute every day, and I can't find a more consistent route. To answer your question, hell yes I lane split! Ride it like you stole it, baby! I have a place in Santa Fe, and I start splitting as soon as I hit the 1 in the morning. Theres really no other way to cross daily. I ride in all the weather, cause crossing in a car is insane. But, I promise, I'm giving you a route that your fat ass can fit through. lol.
      Riding through TJ every day has made me a way better rider. It's pretty crazy and dangerous here. Off the subject, do you know any good bike shops on the mexican side? One with a dyno machine?

    Thank you for the tips. I've been wanting to know how to ride motorcycles cross the border. What's the laws in Tijuana for Riding your motorcycle 🏍️ any clues? Is it okay to wear a tinted visor with your helmet?

    • @teacherontwowheels
      @teacherontwowheels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some of the parts of Mexico I have been to do not require you to wear a helmet. Rosarito being one of them, but I would just wear it. Obey the speed limits and pay attention to stop signs. Some of them are hard to see, so be vigilant.

    • @teacherontwowheels
      @teacherontwowheels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Great question. I have a modular helmet, so I just lift mine up. I would suggest you take your helmet off because they do verify your person by looking at your Id. Also, if you ride with a friend, make sure you approach the booth 1 person at a time. Additionally, I have my ID or passport ready for them as well.
