I bought tickets to see China Crisis on their last world tour gig in Edinburgh 2023........my son was having to take me, much to his dismay. He though they'd be rubbish! We BOTH thoroughly enjoyed the concert immensely.......and now he's a big fan 😁
Saw them here in Melbourne Australia and it was only a small venue but it was one of the best live concerts that I have ever been too and the guys were so engaging, funny and extremely talented.
Knew these guys many years ago... Kirkbys finest along with many other footballers. Boxers. And actors that are from this little town... P. S I still live here I'm 64..
Never understood why they are soooo underrated? Not with me though, one of my all time favourite bands.......:) Thank you China Crisis for your fabulous music over the last 40 years.
@@andrewhulson4000 I do. That's all people ever DO! Underrate everything worth it. Kim Wilde, Alphaville, Sandra, Crowded House (certainly in the 80s), Jennifer Rush, Sheena Easton, Breathe ,Talk Talk, Sparks, Lene Lovich, Natashe England, Kirsty MacColl, A Flock Of Seagulls, Blancmange, Berlin, Jane Wiedlin: you name it, the masses will underrated it. So naturally they OVERRATE pretty much everything you shouldn't. Even ABBA's excellent 80s material is underrated-was at the time and still is now. Duran Duran, too, who are a much better band than people pretend, and it's their post-1984 stuff onwards that's all underrated. And I so agree with you, China Crisis is high among this last as vastly and criminally underrated. People are thick and they, DJs, critics and the rest all lived by their static and shit rules back then. Build someone up then knock 'em down but keep sucking up to the ones the press ALWAYS deem worthy, who never are!
Well...quality is not really appreciated so.. Remembering reading the sleeve notes. Gazza: fretless bass. Had no idea what that was but it sounded pretty cool. Still is.
Amusing. Hadn't heard this song for nearly 40 years. They used to play this on 96fm in Perth, Australia - they'd never play songs with profanities, but they either didn't read the lyrics or let it go, the f word being almost unintelligible. Indeed, I've only just read the lyrics and found this out. 😂
And this fresh and original kind of music was made by guys in their very early twenties. Yes, producer may deserve some credit as well but... Such gifted musicians, true genius.
Hello China Crisis, I am so happy you finally have an official video to this song. One of my longtime favourite songs ever. I still listen to it, and thanks for uploading it =)))
Fantastic music❤ great to see finally have a chance to see them live last night in the far south south west at the Acorn Theatre Penzance 😀🙏 you all sounded absolutely awesome 🎶🎹❤
I searched for the opening spoken Russian words for literal decades before someone online figured it out. Russian speakers please feel free to correct me, but he's roughly saying "rabochiye so stal'yu so skova", which roughly translates to "workers with steel from a forge", which is more or less the song title.
as an 80's DJ this was one of those tracks i loved to play at the alternative clubs... Black Man Ray is a superb track too... i loved to slip in Town called Malice by The Jam, maybe OMD Enola Gay as well.... such an excellent time for music with so much evolving... then 89/90 that crap acid house infected nightclubs.
Must B 1 of the most recognizeable synth intro's EVER. 0:05 to 0:10 So what is the man in the intro actually shouting? Something with Rabot or Robot (working) in a Zavod? (Soviet factory) Very fitting.
From Discogs: ''Voice [Russian Dialect] by Graeme Levy''. He says something like ''Rabotchka s ognyom s stal'yava'' which means more or less ''Work with fire and steel'', although in Russian it should be - Russian folks may correct me - ''Rabotat' s ognyem i stal'yu''.

La buena música nunca pasa de moda. Me recuerda mis tiempos de estudios...
Saw them recently at Let’s rock Southampton. They were absolutely brilliant. 👍
I first heard this fantastic tune in the autumn of 1983. Personally one of my favourite tunes from that year.

So glad to see this. A favorite, and reasonable sonics for YT. Thank you!!
Mais algum brasileiro ouvindo essa pérola em 2021?. Adquiri o "Working With Fire And Steel" em vinil ontem - a sensação é das melhores, um clássico!
