It amazes me how many times we've games getting remakes that are so unnecessary that the devs have to give us a side by side image to see the differences...
You can tell Falcon doesn't watch that many horror movies. I've seen TONS of great horror movies that had amazing storylines. Also, this may be an unpopular opinion, but I almost feel like I enjoyed playing through The Quarry more than I did Until Dawn. Both fantastic games, but there's just something about TQ that made me enjoy it a little more. I'd really like to play Until Dawn again, but I'll wait until it drops to $20-30.
I think you were very fair in this review. Just as far as your tone. I haven’t played or viewed the remake but I really feel like you’ve helped us have fair expectations. Good job 👍🏾
The changes they made to the lighting in the *Until Dawn* remake have completely shifted the tone and atmosphere of the game. Originally, the introduction had this eerie, unsettling vibe, like something bad was lurking just around the corner. And when things did go wrong, the darkness and that haunting blue moonlight filtering through the trees created such a creepy, tense mood. But now, they've replaced it with this sunny dusk setting, and honestly, I’m over it. I don’t need that in a game like this. The original *Until Dawn* was perfectly fine as it was, but they've literally changed the entire atmosphere. And for me, that’s what made the game so compelling in the first place. When you take that away and replace it with something lighter, it just doesn’t work for me. No thanks.
Until Dawn takes inspiration from the original Alan Wake and as a long time fan of Alan Wake it’s very noticeable and I think that’s why this game is there best one.
@@Joe-ti7qd 70 bucks or 90 here in canada well 100 after tax is fine for pc and ps5 for those who don't own the old version but they should make it so those who do already own the old game can just upgrade for like ten or 20 bucks though to be fair it's not like this game is really a upgrade everything still looks the same as far as i can tell, this is like the first time the last of us got remaster where it still held up at the time of the remaster and honestly still holds up to day even with it being a ps3 game
I think no remake/remaster should be above 40$. Maybe 50 if it's really something extra. But the big part of development, the creative process, the design, the writing, all of that has been done before. Asking full price for something lacking those is audacious.
@@CartoonHangoutThe PS3 was designed with a really weird architecture that makes it hard to emulate (that's why PS3 emulation still has a long way to be called perfect), so Sony opted not to do it. On the other hand, Xbox 360 was made with an architecture way easier so that's why Xbox One and Xbox series has backwards compatibility. I think that Sony would do a lot better remaking games like Infamous 1 and 2 that are locked on PS3 instead of remastering games that, to be fair, still look pretty good today
I'm hyped to see it on PC, I'm gonna keep my eye out in the next 2-3 years for a sale or price drop since I can't really justify rebuying the game at full price but I remember really enjoying it on the PS4 way back when.
I honestly think the high price is there to play with the demand there has been for years for a PC port (which doesn’t make it right btw). I played this game on a friends PS4 and ever since then I have been playing the dark anthology games and saying to myself “god I wish I could just get UNTIL Dawn’s experience again” and I really think they are playing with that feeling. Really happy there is a PC port but will be really happy to buy it next Halloween for like 20-30$.
Been playing video games since 1983 and I feel that we have arrived at the worst time for video games ever. The 80s, 90s and 2000s were so good and it seems to have gotten worse since then. Sad times for big nerds like me
Yeah, I've been playing for about the same length of time and they're making a lot of lame decisions these days. I can still find pretty cool indie and AA games at least but the AAA companies are like Hollywood in that they're afraid to take any risks now so it's just remake after remake and a lot of them are censored.
I've been interested in checking this out for some time now as I've heard lots of good things about the story, so I'm glad to see it on PC. Moreover, it's rumored to work with UEVR, so that's a bonus.
@Amins88 Wym "zero replayability," the game has 256 variations of multiple choices that can't be achieved in a first playthrough, so players must play different playthroughs if they want to see different outcomes in the characters... Plus there's the collectibles that not everyone will obtain during their first playthrough.
@@Burstify that's like playing GTA5 for 1000 hours just so you can scour the game for every line of dialogue. Sure, that's a lot of voice lines, but why would any normal person go through that? All you have to do is look at a greatest horror movies of all time list to get slapped with reality. Maybe people just like young adult films or hundreds of straight to DVD action films.
As a remake this is pretty great (for the most part), strong visuals, some actual (but not too major) additions to the story, and quite a bit more accessibility. Not to mention it finally coming to PC. If only it didn't cost so damn much.
and if Sony wasn't dumb and region locked it like they did with Ghost of Tsushima and Helldrivers 2. I swear Sony is like Canada's "mentally challenged" cousin, they make one step forward, two steps backwards.
“horror movies are not good films” is the dumbest thing i have ever heard on this channel
Thank you! Made me not like falcon even more

Yeah very weird for Falcon to take this one over Jake with that mindset in place. Unless Jake hates horror movies even more.

As a PC gamer only, when I played The Quarry I found it amazing so I was looking forward to play Until Dawn for the first time and it did not disappointed me at all, totally worth in my opinion!
Good for you, mate. I play on console and on PC, and I've got to say, it is a step up from the original since you haven't played it yet. You'll have a good time.
thats becuz until dawn is peak supermassive games, so yeah
Going from Until Dawn to The Quarry was such a laughable downgrade. I regret supporting it.
@@Dousch The game itself was fine. The characters except for Laura were garbage IMO. At least the Until Dawn cast sort of redeemed themselves throughout the game, Quarry characters just got more annoying throughout the game
im someone that owns the original on ps4 and i have a pc too, but i cant lie the price of it is pretty steep for people that already have a copy. For those like pc only players then by all means have fun, but for those who alr have one maybe not, The privilege of pc tho is that you can have the beauty of piracy (like i did)
I mean, the remake was made to accommodate the PC release. Releasing it on PS5 makes sense after that.
The Actors are unchanged but the Sound effects for the guns, Wendigo, are different.
Wow sounds like a pretty significant upgrade 🤡
Of course not, then they'd have to pay Rami Malek, Hayden Panettiere, and the rest of the cast to come in and do re-recordings. Fuck that, what will the shareholders say?!
No excuse to charge premium for a remake, especially if you have the last gen version it’s a disgraceful cash grab
Don't worry. They'll remove last gen version. Like they did to Horizon ZD
I felt a significant amount of pain when you kicked the wolf.
It blows my mind how nobody knows about Song of Horror. I’m baffled by this. Song of horror is similar to until Dawn, but with an inventory system great puzzles, multiple characters that you can play as it’s on another level. It didn’t have the budget until dawn has but it still has good graphics and manages to be one of the greatest hidden gems of all time. It is available on consoles and pc
I'd never heard of it until now. Did a little digging around and saw a lot of positive opinions. It's on my list now! Thanks!

If this can get a rebuild for current gen then SURELY Metal Gear: Rising Revengeance deserves on😭
I don’t know if you hear this allot but I appreciate your honesty when reviewing this games.

I think no remake/remaster should be above 40$. Maybe 50 if it's really something extra. But the big part of development, the creative process, the design, the writing, all of that has been done before. Asking full price for something lacking those is audacious.
5:50 it doesn’t matter who you choose. Chris still stays with Ashley
Sorry if that’s spoilers, it’s a 9 year old game and i don’t think a lot of choices matter in this game
Just glad it hasn't been 'improved' for 'modern audiences'.
Remake something that's still stuck on old consoles, like final fantasy 13, been over 10 years and would love an updated version of that
No one likes FF13 everyone complained the story and characters were awful I would know I felt like the only person that enjoyed the game
@@JoeMama-tl4tr I know people complained about the linearity of the game, but tons of FF games are linear just hidden in by how open the map LOOKS
Wait, that's not playable beyond PS3/360? I thought it was backwards compatible on like the Xbox.
@@CartoonHangout I'm PlayStation, it's the only final fantasy game square Inex hasn't remastered basically
I like to think of this as an alternate "evil Freddy Mercury" universe (who's also a coding genius).

What are you talking about? Pretty positive that it can play on ps4 and ps5
Yes, every single person on the planet owns one of every console. Lmao
What game did you play where the models were bad?! That game is still to this day better looking than most REMAKES.
Been playing video games since 1983 and I feel that we have arrived at the worst time for video games ever. The 80s, 90s and 2000s were so good and it seems to have gotten worse since then. Sad times for big nerds like me
Because all these companies are just trying to make the most $$$ instead of the best quality game. It's sad really.
Yeah, I've been playing for about the same length of time and they're making a lot of lame decisions these days. I can still find pretty cool indie and AA games at least but the AAA companies are like Hollywood in that they're afraid to take any risks now so it's just remake after remake and a lot of them are censored.

No reason to charge 60 dollars for a 9 year old game with no zero replayability
@Amins88 Wym "zero replayability," the game has 256 variations of multiple choices that can't be achieved in a first playthrough, so players must play different playthroughs if they want to see different outcomes in the characters...
Plus there's the collectibles that not everyone will obtain during their first playthrough.
@@Burstify that's like playing GTA5 for 1000 hours just so you can scour the game for every line of dialogue. Sure, that's a lot of voice lines, but why would any normal person go through that? I really wish Until Dawn had continued as an anthology. The story was complete and fully satisfying so I didn't need a sequel (plus, depending on your ending, there really, *couldn't* be one that wasn't a rehash), but the name is perfect for an ongoing series and I just haven't been feeling the Dark Pictures Anthology. Put a similar group of talent behind the money Sony was providing and this could've been a match made in heaven.
Maybe this'll help remind people of how good Until Dawn really was... if the price doesn't scare them away.
