Good Canadian blended whiskies have strong rye notes. Not surprised that this was mistaken for a Canadian whisky.

About 6 yrs ago I bought my first bottle of rye...James E Pepper 1776. Love at first sip! The spicy, peppery nature with herbals all combined for an amazing drink. And Keith...no way do you look old enough for Pong!

I did a blind taste of the1776, knob creek, wild Turkey 81 and bulleit ryes. I776 won hands down.

Bulleit Rye was being sourced from MGP as well for awhile, but was lower in proof, so makes sense.

Will have to try this. Never heard of it, but I am not a big rye guy. Here in Virginia, they have it at our state stores for $30. As Keith notes, nice bottle appeal.
